Not good night last night. Sweetie’s drugs stopped working 6 hours before he was due for another dose and 4 hours before the pharmacy opened. I gave him 600 mg of ibuprofen and it must have helped a tad because he was able to doze on the couch for about an hour. He woke me up at 9 to go to the pharmacy for him. The pharmacist said they were going to set up a bed for me in the back because I’m there so often these days. Luckily the drugs are starting to kick in and the pharmacist said he can actually take up to twice as much Sudafed as was prescribed because they only told him to take half the max daily dose. I’m still wondering why they even wrote a prescription for an OTC drug.
Making Sweetie’s mommy a set of grandchildren/grandpuppies ornaments. They’re clay and shaped like christmas balls and have the kid’s/dog’s name and the current year in puff paint. Pictures of the kid/dog will go in the middle with some sparklie card stock on the back.
I made it while it’s still Monday Morning!! And it’s not because I slept in - I actually forced myself out of bed around 7 and hit the shower. So far this morning, I’ve re-bandaged my sweetie after his shower, tended to the critters, emptied the dishwasher, baked a double batch of oatmeal cookies (some with raisins most without), ate some pizza for breakfast, and maybe that’s all. So far. I need to run the vacuum and bring some firewood into the garage, since it’s supposed to rain tonight. I’ve also got to clean the fireplace.
Last night, I mostly finished the scraps afghan I was making. I still need to weave in all the loose ends where the assorted scraps were tied together. And I *WILL *finish my daughter’s sweater today, dammit!!
Temps are supposed to be mild this week - up to 60 on Weds! Unfortunately, FCD’s local doc won’t remove his surgical staples, so we’ve got to drive back to Baltimore on Firday. I don’t think we *have *to but *someone *refused to make a few phone calls to find someone local to do it, and I’m not starting a fight over it, even tho I am pretty pissed off. Oh well, I can go by the clay place for a few things I need and forgot to get last week.
Nothing exciting planned this week other than that. And I like it that way!
Happy Monday!
Afternoon.
I don’t know what temperature it is here- cold, nasty and wet will do. I’m too cheap to put the heating on- I’m just wearing more clothes, but have chilly fingers.
Looks like the seed swap I’ve been trying to get sorted is going ahead, just not where I originally planned- in a bigger, more fun, and considerably more random venue. Am supposed to be designing a poster for it. Currently, I’m in the thinking stage. It’s not til february, so I have a little while.
This week, I will mostly be doing nothing much. Got the dentist on wednesday (just a checkup), and I still need to buy one (1) bottle of booze for the Great Uncle, and something for the Aunt/Uncle combo. Never know what to get them, we don’t have any interests in common, and she don’t drink, plus he’s diabetic and doesn’t like chocolate. They won’t really care, they’d be more bothered that I get summat nice for the grandbaby (which I have); but as they’re hosting the party (even if my Uncle will be at the footy for half of it), 'tis but common manners to give them something.
Most exciting thing this week will be the trip up to visit the folks, which shall take place on Christmas Eve. I’ve got a 5-7 hour drive, depending on traffic, bringing the housemate (her folks live quite near mine), 3 mice and a live fish in a bag. Oh, and I have no car stereo, though I do have a kazoo.
Blurf.
One week before I’m unemployed. I’m kind of looking forward to it. I wrapped all but one of my presents yesterday.
Nuts should one kazoo and drive?
I’m hongry but can’t go get sump’n eat just yet. No one here but me right now. Life is unfair.
Afternoon all. I figured out how to crochet in a circle and I made three cat toys.
The fireplace is clean, the main areas are vacuumed, the cookie sheets are clean, dry, and put away. I’ve got a fire started, but it’s not too enthusiastic - I need to encourage it. Next big chore is hauling a couple of wagon loads of firewood from the pile to the garage. I should take tylenol first. And find gloves - it’s mid-40s and windy, and being such the delicate flower that I am…
Well, we are getting snow but not the blizzard that you’ve probably seen on the national weather. There are, however, parts of New Mexico that are getting a blizzard, unfortunately. Just not in Albuquerque, whew! It’s been cold, but not as cold as it was earlier in the month when we had the first big snowstorm. ::knocks on wood three times::
Today I’m waiting for a store back in Virginia to call me back with shipping rates - I’m ordering some sliced country ham! I haven’t had any in a few years and probably shouldn’t be eating it, but I’m gonna have some anyway. LOL That’s why I’m just ordering a bit instead of getting a half ham or something like that. It’ll be enough to satisfy my “taste,” hopefully.
Things are really gearing up for the holidays, I always enjoy this time of year. I’ve already listened to parts of Handel’s Messiah on youtube.com. Now I need to find a version of Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Hope everyone has a great day today.
 and :smack:
my back is full of ow today.
Cat - The Other White Meat.
VWife just called to say her echocardiogram was done. Okay… I knew she was having it and all, but why the call?
Turns out the echo patient just before her had a coronary on the table while the tech was taking the pictures, and they were running late.
Tonight is men’s night at the church house. I have steaks marinatin’ and beer chillin’. NUM! Just thought I’d share.
Well, I’m not chilly any longer. I just brought in the last of the wood from the uncovered stack. There’s slightly more than half a cord piled up under plastic next to the garage - I shouldn’t have to touch that till January, I hope.
I uncovered a little nest while removing the logs, then I uncovered a little gray mouse. Sorry mousie, but the needs of humans outweigh the needs of the rodentia.
**FCD **is snoozing. Taz is eating his foot - or licking it - I can’t tell from this distance. Ziva is eating kibble - I can hear her 2 rooms away - such a dainty little thing she is.
Still haven’t finished the sweater, but I will. Really. I will!
Work here has ceased for now. My grandparents needed to go to the store and since I’m the designated driver, off we went. They only needed one thing at the store, cereal. When they came out they had 10-12 items, none of which were… you guessed it, cereal!
We also went to lunch and ran a few other errands. While I was in the pet supply store some woman got caught shoplifting. They were calling the police on her when I left.
Now, it’s just about time for a nap and then maybe some more work after that.
:grumble: too early, etc…
(Seriously. I just woke up from a nap and my brain remains on half-power)
The weather, well… I dunno if I should bitch or be hopping a jig. Here in western Oregon, its been dry… very very dry. Usually its raining this time of year, and won’t let up until April. This year, its been dry. In fact, the mighty Umpqua, which flows basically through my backyard (literally), is running about 1600 cfm. Or, it at a low summer level. On the other hand, I’ve been in this house when the river came up high enough that we were on an island. Glad that isn’t happening.
So. Cold, fog, and no rain. Perfect incubator for depression.
But damn, it feels good to be able to take a nap!
Fat free Ranch dressing sucks. It has a taste vaguely related to vomit. Oh god, it was sooooo bad. I thought my nebulous memories of its suckitude was an overestimation but it may be worse than I imagined.
I’m inclined to think all fat-free dressing are disgusting. Same with fat-free cheese, fat free sour cream (WTF??), and fat free butter substitutes. gah
A couple of states have decided to require prescriptions for pseudoephedrine in a ham-handed attempt to further The War On Drugs. On the plus side, if you have a “flexible spending” account for medical expenses, you can use the FSA to buy it as the IRS decided to require a prescription to buy most OTC meds with FSA dollars.
Was fun at the post office - I breezed in with a stack of boxes, sat them on the counter and breezed out, past a line of probably 25 people who weren’t clever enough to figure out buying and printing postage at home. It probably took longer to navigate the double-doors to get in, than it did to go past the line and drop 'em off.
the only exception to the “all fat-free dressings taste like crap” that I’ve found is raspberry vinegrette. But that’s too sweet for my salads.
Been there, done that.
So my wrist is screwed up, got a splint and an Rx for 20mg Prednisone. Doc wanted to give me 60mg.
