I got my last pre-lockdown haircut on March 7, and my wife and son got theirs cut pretty close to that time.
The same woman is the hairstylist for all three of us, so we bribed her to come over to our house one morning in mid-July, and give haircuts to all three of us, out on our back deck, with masks. So we were able to get semi-recent haircuts with minimal risk.
Haven’t had a haircut since. Normally I’d get a haircut every five or six weeks, but after having gone more than four months between haircuts, it doesn’t feel all that long yet.
Luckily (unluckily?), I had one on March 11th prior to my grandmother’s funeral. 6 days later everything shut down. At the time I thought the funeral quite surreal with no hugging, just elbow bumps and lots of hand sanitizer, but I was grateful later that we were able to have the funeral and a nice lunch afterwards. That being said, I’m awful shaggy now and only able to trim around the ears with my Norelco. I may break down and get the real deal sometime in the near future, but I have no immediate plans.
I haven’t gotten a haircut yet. Went from military-length buzz cut to shaggy hippie in 6 months. I’d buzz it myself with my trimmer, but for some reason my wife likes the shagginess.
I wear my hear short, like military regs short. I’ve had two at home haircuts that my wife did for me using beard trimmers and scissors. First one was pretty good all things considering. The second one very quickly involved the words “Whoops! I think I just goofed up!” and ended with the decision to shave all the rest of my hair off to match the big bald spot.
I have had one haircut with my usual barber. He was supposed to come to me vs. me going to his shop. I ended up having to go to him and I was a nervous wreck the whole time. I’m now due for another cut and trying to decide if I schedule with him or allow my wife to trim me up again.
I hadn’t gotten a haircut since before February. I remember specifically that my girlfriend and I were still together, because I asked the barber not to take too much off, because my girlfriend liked running her fingers through my hair. We broke up before Valentine’s Day. I was going to get my hair cut shortly before Sports Clips and all them were forced to shut down, but I missed it.
Yesterday was my first hair cut since the pandemic started, and since before then. Probably January. I got it cut really short so I don’t have to screw with it anytime soon.
Finally got mine cut yesterday. Didn’t have to wait outside. They jacked up the price by 50%, not that I blamed them. That plus large tip made it the most expensive haircut I’ve ever had, but it was worth it.
Still no haircut, and up until a couple of days ago it was supplemented by a growth of beard that was becoming quite substantial. I finally attacked the beard a couple of days ago using a beard trimmer making multiple passes on different settings and finally have it down to a fashionably scruffy look that could be shaved clean should I wish to, which I don’t.
I’ve had one haircut since all this craziness started, on Aug. 10 if my calendar is to be believed. It was by far the most expensive haircut I’ve ever had. A simple men’s haircut (and my hair is rapidly thinning so it doesn’t take the stylist long to mow it) usually ran about $15, but the salon was tacking on some ridiculous “cleaning and sanitizing” charge of $10, plus they had increased the charge of the post-cut shampoo, plus I added a $10 tip because I know the stylist was out of work for a while as was her husband. So 10 minutes in the chair cost me almost $50. Grumble. I might just start buzzing the whole damn thing with a #2 trimmer. Balding sucks.
I trimmed my beard once since March, which I regret. It’s now nearing 3 inches on the chin. When I wear a mask, according to my wife, my face looks like the nether regions of a 70’s swimsuit model. I haven’t had to report to work since March 18 and there are no beard / hair grooming policies to adhere to anyway, so I decided to just let the damn thing grow. I would like to go full Billy Gibbons but I’m afraid that my wife would make me sleep on the couch if I did so. She likes the Justin Trudeau / Prince Harry look instead. I’m very tentatively scheduled to go back to F2F teaching in late October / early November, so I might break out the clippers then. I did have to get a new faculty ID card a week or so ago, and my new picture shows me in all my balding, wild hermit wannabe glory.
The day after kaylasmom passed, my sister flew out from Grand Rapids to help me and Kayla get a service thrown together. When she got to the apartment, the first thing she did was drag me to a Supercuts and told them to make me look less like Saddam Hussein emerging from his spider hole and more like the Most Interesting Man in the World. So, February 6 was my most recent encounter with professionally-wielded scissors.
I’m contemplating getting the beard waxed, so I can fashion it into a swallowtail.
I haven’t had a haircut since October last year. The past few years I’d get it cut by my mom’s hair dresser when I went out to visit my parents. I took to referring to it as my “yearly shearing”. But dad died in January, and we have COVID these days and the senior community my mom lives in isn’t allowing visitors, so I’m thinking I’ll miss it this year. Lucky for me, my hair is fine and straight and all one length, so other than some frizzing at the ends looks about the same, just longer.
I haven’t had one since before June '19 and I hate it. It contributes heavily to my feeling frumpy post-partum blues. I could so use a makeover but that isn’t happening any time soon.
My husband finally broke down and had his done on Thursday. He has curly Italian fro hair and it was pretty out of control. He and the salon staff wore masks but he was still uncomfortable with the whole thing. He had them cut it really short so he can get away with another three to six months.
I’ve been snipping the ends off my own hair since Covid and gave myself some pandemic bangs. It works well enough on straight hair.
The real surprise is my spouse who is very lazy about haircuts and beard trimming. Ok so the hair is in a ponytail now but the facial hair he trims often only because it’s hard to wear a mask with a bushy beard. Thank god for that
