Personally, post party threads are < yawn > worthless.
Pretty soon some of us that have been around will have to give up some of our precious posts when they scale back the boards. You know it’s gonna happen folks some of the real old-timers have lost posts in some trimming a while ago.

I don’t usually post to them, but since I have twice now, it may depend on WHO you want to celebrate their having been here long enough to have however many posts.

No, the post parties are nice for the youngsters, those who are still insecure with their place here. Jaded oldtimers like me (a whole five months!) yawn and continue typing. I’ve stopped posting my congrats, since it’s more indicative of how they are letting the rest of their lives slide to spend more time here. If they’re anything like me, that is!

I usually don’t post, depends on how busy I am that day and what kind of mood I’m in. I used to be really impressed by post counts when I first came to the board. But lately when you see someone with a high post count and short time on the board, you really wonder if these people talk as much IRL as they do on the boards. Then again I think maybe they don’t get to talk at all IRL and that’s why they have such a high count cause on the board they can talk all they want.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this board and I think all the people here are terrific. But sometimes I sit back and read and I think, now isn’t this just like the second grade where you send the little notes that say ‘I love you, do you love me’ check yes or no.
I also don’t post often to the ‘let’s give (insert name) a big hug and good vibs today’ kinda posts, or (insert name) is so special and such a great person. Everyone here brings something to the board that is great and special, why single someone out? Not that it does any harm, and I’m not complaining. Each to his own.
You are not the only one…I pop into the thread…to read what all the other post count party people have all ready posted a thousand times before.

This thread isn’t attacking post party threads - I was just wondering if I am the only one who doesn’t get the appeal of them. Considering that’s the title of the thread, it’s kind of difficult to miss, isn’t it?
I started to count the post parties I posted to instead of the posts themselves.
I will never have a post party and at the rate I post I will never need one. On the other hand by time I reach a thousand posts (somewhere in the year 2045 I guess that will be something worth celebrating!
