When I moved to Dallas in the 1980’s I remember hating KVIL because their morning show was 99% talk and 1% music. I also recall not liking Ron Chapman although those memories faded after all these years. Now that Dallas radio has been pretty much been totally ruined by the big corporate radio buyouts, I find myself sometimes listening to the Oldies station, KLUV.
So now I have to listen to Ron Chapman who I guess finally left KVIL for KLUV.
Is it just me, or is any one else irritated by the way he draws out random words?
“On Tuuuuuuesday, we will haaaaaaave a special show. It will be wooooooonderful.”
I don’t know. I quit listening to KVIL for the same reasons you cite, and Ron Chapman irritates me so much I refuse to listen to KLUV. He sounds like a dj version of a southern preacher, y’know? (not what he says, just how he says it!)
If I have to have the radio on in the early morning (I get to work between 6:30 and 6:45), I’ll listen to KDMX (102.9). They have a lot of talk, but they do play a reasonable amount of music.
Of course, some mornings I’m perfectly happy just singing to myself. That way I don’t get obnoxious songs like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” running around in my head for 3 days!
