Amazing Race 7/13

Phew! Thanks to the last place couple I can now feel comfortable about watching the rest of season 5!
As usual, a good episode. . . but it did seem a bit choppy and slammed together at the end.
All in all, excellent examples of wrong decisions:
Which cemetery?
Doggies or Tango?
Bus or taxi?
And we must remember: don’t waste time changing money!
And read the clue before you worry about where your hands must go vis a vis the cows!

From first to last. Yay!
It couldn’t have happened to a nicer team.

Funny how it doesn’t take long to develop a dislike for certain teams. The team eliminated tonight is a perfect example of that for me. And the ability to work as a team (or not) certainly had an effect tonight both in decision-making and in completing the tasks.

YES!!!

Did Donnie really say there at the end that he’s never hated anyone as much as Allison? I can’t believe how evil they were to each other - worse than my brother and I when we were kids! I’m glad they came in last.

I’m just glad that the wonders of producer-chosen contestants have given me at least two other teams to hate besides Alison…

“Useless foreigners”? Excuse me, Guido…what country were you in again? Who’s the foreigner here?

And the WHINING of the Twins! “And we played faaaiiirrrr!”

Who are the other producer chosen contestants besides Alison and Donny?

Favorite team: Jim and Marsha

Other so-far likeable team: Moms

Hated teams now, Twins, Brothers, Charla and Mirna.

Anyone else notice the “666” on the side of the taxi? I think it was on the one the guy with the bad knee got on?–Foreshadowing? I can’t wait to see that cocky guy in the lead get eliminated.

So Alison is a horrible person and Donny has no backbone. I’m glad they’re gone.

My favorite teams now are probably the father/daughter and the mothers. Bob and Joyce are okay too. The rest of the teams I pretty much dislike equally. I used to like the twins…and I still like one of them (not sure which one but there is definately a cuter, nicer one and that’s the one I like) but they were a little childish today.

Tonight’s alternate episode title: "Can You Stick Your Hand Up A Cow’s Ass?"

I’m actually sorry to see Alison & Donny leave. I wanted to see how far down into Megabitch Central she could go. Just for a couple more legs, of course…don’t want another Flo situation here.

Chip & Kim are my fave so far. Hell yeah, I wouldn’t have gotten out of the taxi, either! I really, really, really hate the twins. Watch out for those Indian trains, girls! Oh, and I hate Mario & Luiji, too. The bowling moms are cool, and a bit evil as well – is it true no teams bothered to exchange money before?

No Yield this leg? I still wanna see how that plays out.

I’m heartily sick of the midget’s partner, whatever her name is. If I have to listen to her attempt to slaughter the Spanish language one more time, I’m going to have to kill her. Not that what actually comes out of her mouth has all that much resemblance to Spanish.

They’re all producer-chosen. I meant the phrase in the sense of “deliberately chosen teams who will obviously be obnoxious and hated by the public”.

I died laughing after hearing that. Charla was winding Mirna up, totally on purpose. It’s nice to see her pushing Mirna’s buttons in an “I’m laughing with you” kind of way, particularly compared to the hateful Alison and Donny. Charla and Mirna seem to be having a lot of fun (when they’re not waxing histrionic), and I like that. I’m still a little annoyed by Charla and Mirna’s “we’re gonna show the world what little people can do” attitude when they also depend on getting help because Charla’s a dwarf, but this team is the most entertaining to watch, so I hope they’ll go far.

What exactly happened there? When I watched the episode, I thought that both teams had spotted the cab at the same time, and just claimed it together, with neither budging. However, from what the teams said in the later interviews, I infer that somehow it was the twins’s cab, and Chip just snuck into it the cab to slow them. Was that how it went down?

I wish we saw the money-exchange conversation between the Moms and Military Dad. We’ve only got his side of the story, and it struck me as out of character for the Moms to intentionally lie like that. I want my dastardly villians to be twirling moustaches, not making 7-10 splits.

And, finally, how hard is it to follow a map? Of the three teams that dog-walked, only one completed the route. Were there no street signs or something?

I am liking the bowling moms – too bad they’re not fit enough for when the challenges get more physical.

The midget’s cousin is incredibly annoying – and both of them are so effin’ smug. (“Ya gotta stop and have fun, 'cause otherwise it’s just really stressful.”)

Today’s the day I gotta pick my teams for the pool – I’ll have to do some research over at the website, since everyone we’ve seen a lot of is just getting their screen time on their way out.

I missed exactly what happened with Chip and the twin too - Cany anyone clarify?

My favorites are still Chip & Kim and Jim & Marsha - and I’m starting to like the moms as well. It does seem out of character for them to deliberately give J & M wrong information.

I really, really intensely disliked Allison and Donny but I’m also sorry to see them go so soon -just because of the entertainment value. Still, regardless of what Donny said, I bet they’re on (whatever talk show ousted contestants appear on) this morning and we’ll discover they are still together… Ugh.

From what I saw of the cab incident, both Chip and Twin saw it at the same time. Twin made it to the cab first and got in, then Chip got in the other side and refused to budge. Twin definitely got in first, but I’m still on Chip’s side because the Twins bug the hell out of me.

Allison and Donny have taken on train-wreck proportions in my mind–I can’t bear to watch them, but I can’t look away. I’m actually sorry to see them go, because I don’t think she fully explored the possibilities of her bitchiness, and I was really looking forward to the day Donny snapped and tore her head right off her neck. I like to think I’m all intelligent and sophisticated, but man oh man, I liked watching them yell at each other.

The moms are looking really promising now … I find it hard to believe they tripped Jim and Marsha up like that, just because … well, they’re moms! They’re supposed to be nice and bake cookies and stuff! (Not that my mom baked a lot, but she is nice and mom-like.) Jim’s now got a little secret military vendetta against them, but maybe they’ll have their showdown at the pit stop and move on with the game.

I don’t really know how I feel about Charla and Mirna at this point. Spanish speakers they are not, but hey, they’re doing the best they can. It occurred to me last night that at some point, there’s going to have to be a Road Block almost specifically designed for Charla–Mirna can’t do everything, and the producers know it.

I wasn’t too thrilled about Bob and Joyce last week, but I’ve decided I like 'em. Something about the way Bob handled the dogs just made him loveable, and Joyce wasn’t nearly as annoying as I thought she’d be.

Has anyone else noticed that Colin and Christie are getting virtually no screen time? I don’t know if it’s because they’re such a healthy, loving couple that no one will be interested, but I think they’re probably going to go close to all the way.

Here’s what the AMAZING RACE official website says about the taxi standoff in its recounting of what happened last night:

Which makes it look like that taxi was up for grabs and both teams simply laid claim to it. I think the twins are way off base and I hope their nastiness jumps up to bite them on their bottoms.

Unfortunately we had a big storm here last night and TAR was pre-empted by the weather with about 15 minutes left. I saw the Blue Lagoon couple and Charla and Mirna get to the mat, and just as Chip and the twins got to the cab we lost the show.

Glad to hear Allison and Donnie are gone, but I would have loved to see the rest of their self-destruction. :frowning:

Yay! Allison is gone!

Both of the teams that involved bitchy blonde women and nice brunette men are gone. I think the two guys should be a team and leave the two women to tear each other to pieces.

I still hate the twins. Mirna and Charla make me laugh, almost constantly. I love Jim. I love Chip and Kim and have a tough time seeing what the twins thought Chip was supposed to do for them. I’m a little surprised if the Moms actually deliberately misdirected Jim and Marsha.

The brothers made me laugh in a slap my hand over my mouth I cannot believe what that crass idiot just said.

Wow, this show moves quickly, doesn’t it?

I think it has more of a resemblance to Italian – “grazie” instead of “gracias”. “Possi-blay boat stop-o”… . And the dwarf (“midget” is disliked by the dwarf/little people community) was classic, with her here-let-me-help translation skills. Start with “amigo”, then speak really slowly in English, and they’ll understand.
