Amazing Race 7/13

That is the single most bizarre threat I’ve ever gotten.

And sooo annoying. They seemed to feel the need to mention that they were gay in every segment they appeared in last season.

One thing I’m interested in is the promotional trailer.

It flashes the Sphinx and what looks like that umpty-ump star hotel (the one that looks like a huge sail) that’s in Dubai.

It implies (at least to me) that TAR is going to take these people into the Middle East…a hot spot area that I thought they were supposed to avoid!

Not a threat Number Six. If you want information, go here http://www.fact-index.com/t/th/the_prisoner.html

Sure it was, a tongue-in-cheek threat in the form of an reference to my username, which, by the way, has nothing to do with The Prisoner.

I think Mirna is a total doofus and I find myself strongly attracted to her.

I think Chip was in the wrong during the taxi stand-off. The twin definitely got there first. And I suspect that many of you saying “He did the right thing–it’s a race for a million dollars” would not have felt that way if Chip had gotten to the cab first and then one of the twins jumped in.

The Pizza Guy’s remark about “useless foreigners” seemed to me to be a tongue-in-cheek throwaway line. You can argue that it wasn’t all that funny, but I don’t think he meant it as literally as some of you are taking it.

She got in the cab first, he talked to the driver first. Short of some sort of ground rules set up by the two teams prior to a cab arriving, each has an equally defensible claim at that point.

This is called the Amazing Race, not the Amazing Be Nice to Other People in a Potentially Edgy Moral Situation and Let Them Go Ahead of You and Potentially Eliminate You. That really would be tough to remember.

Why? It would be the exact same situation.

Both teams thought they were battling for last place. In the immediately previous leg, Dennis & Erika were eliminated because they gave up a taxi. As far as either team was concerned, if they let the other get the taxi then they were out of the Race. So, why would it be different for one team than another?

Why? Because so many people posting here seem to hate the twins, and a lot of posters are rooting for Chip and his wife. So I think Chip and Kim are going to get cut a lot more slack in a situation like this where, at least superficially, it looked like the twin had the claim on the taxi. (And in response to Mullinator, I’ve got the episode taped and Chip doesn’t look like he “talked to the driver.” It looks like he slowed down to nudge the driver out of the way so he could open the door.) If the tables were turned and Chip had gotten in first and then the twin had jumped in and refused to budge, the twin-haters would be going f***ing nuts.

And there really should be some rule for the show about who gets claim to a taxi, since they are used so often. In this particular situation, the twin was clearly heading toward the taxi in question before Chip and Kim even realized it was there. Then he saw it and started running and the twin, alerted by her sister that he was coming, sprinted on ahead and got there first.

Neither of them are teams I’m rooting for anyway (Go Jim & Marsha! Yay Colin & Christie!). It’s fun to have teams to root against as well as teams to root for. With the bickering couples gone, I guess it’s up to the brothers and the twins to be the “bad guys.”

Nonsense. No such rule exists in life, why should it on this show?

Besides, TV producers love bickering and backbiting. Don’t hold your breath for such a rul to emerge.
