American Dad 9/18

“I’ve had a hobby since I was your age and not once have I ever played a solo on the devil’s clarinet.”

I liked the educational film.

**’**Bates Motel. Very subtle.

Not as subtle as W-ANG TV.

IMHO, American Dad wins the evening amongst the Big Three.

I don’t think I could ‘apply lotion’ if Little Guey had just gotten burned.

Bad enough with a burnt hand.

Second, behind FG.

Thirded here.

This was my first experience with this show and I’m hooked. I’m not even really that into animated television shows, but wow! I was laying there in bed, sick with a headcold, and this show came on. I would normally change it but I was too weak to hunt down the remote. So I watched Family Guy, which was enjoyable enough compared to the same old Simpsons gags.

I am so glad I caught it*! I could not stop laughing!

*the show, not the cold :stuck_out_tongue:

Um…yeah nevermind my “thirded”. I misread.
I blame it on the headcold.

I finally figured it out. I knew there must be a reason for the apostrophe, but duh, I didn’t get it. Great show.

Also, I love how he jumps straight into his slippers in the opening credits. That’s enough to get me to watch the show.

American Dad has really improved from when it started. I wish more shows were given a chance to find their feet like this; it’s gone from feeling like a ripoff of Family Guy (which in turn started off feeling like a ripoff of the Simpsons) to being very funny in its own right.

Could it be that Fox has actually learned something about cancelling shows too soon?

Regardless, I agree it’s gotten much better. The main plot was a riot and I enjoyed the side business with Haley and Roger (and his pancreas).

Once again a good episode. AD is not a classic series, but a fine Sunday Night companion.

I like Roger and I wondered for those that say he is pointless: did you find him funny this episode?

I will admit, the bar tender thing was kind of like Stewie’s Amway company on FG.

But I love that they have him doing odd things as a shut-in.

Uh…big three? I don’t even know what the other two in the big three could be, but I would hardly call American Dad “big”.

I turned the TV off after Family Guy, but one of my friends encouraged me to watch after she found out what the subject matter was. I wasn’t impressed

so why do they censor American Dad’s ass but not Peter’s?

Sometimes censoring is funny.

The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad are the “big three” we end up discussing here every week. King of the Hill doesn’t seem to be anyone’s cup of tea.

I’d watch King of the Hill if it were on later. They seem to have stuck it into Football Pre-emption Timeslot of Death, otherwise known as the Futurama Slot.

The only KOTH I liked was the one where Hank tried to get Connie to join his bluegrass band. And then only to hear Boomhauer go from speaking his unintelligible gibberish to singing a completely legible “Blue Moon of Kentucky”.

I thought Roger was put to relatively good use in this episode. In other episodes he’s been interacting with the rest of the family out in the real world as a sane person. Here, he kinda moves into his own little universe and makes up the rules. Kinda reminded me of Snoopy and all the ridiculous, complex, imaginary plots he would come up with in Peanuts.

If they gotta have Roger, I think that’s a good way to use him. Don’t treat him like just another character who happens to be an alien; make him half-crazy with an over-active imagination.

And pair him with Klaus more often. The existence of neither one makes any sense at all, so they go well together. I liked them in the bar scene in this episode (even though they brought back the “Klaus has the hots for Francine” gag).

Maybe I’m easily amused, but I love that stuff. “Do you think she vould let me svim in her mouth?”

Was it FG or AD that had the quote:

“It felt like God kissed me with a moutfull of Scotch…”

Which ever show it was, that one had me going Big time…
