American Horror Story --- WTF???

I was wondering that too…also the dif guy who slit Haydon’s throat ??

Remind me…why is it that Moira has aged… have any of the other ghosts?

I kind of liked how they moved forward three years as a tease re all the happennings that we’ll find out about in between. When Constance took ff her scarf in the salon they seemd to set it up as somethiong about to be revealed. I watched it a couple of times and couldn’t make anything out…hmm??

It does seem like kind of a waste (of plot) to have scared that family away so quickly and I too don’t want to see that over and over again.

Wasn’t that Connie’s dead boytoy?

None of the others seem to have. We haven’t gotten any explanation, but I’d fanwank something like the Matrix’s idea of “you look how you feel that you look.”

Just a bad hairdo, I think…

Oh by the way, another awesome quote for the “Connie’s casual racism” file, “the amount of money ‘those people’ spend on a thirteen-year-old…”

Not 100% positive, but I think it was one of the three people who invaded the home early on (they tied up Violet and her Mom, intent on re-enacting the murder of the nursing students until Tate intervened).

That was the guy from the home invasion.

I watched the whole season starting from the third or fourth episode, so maybe I don’t get it, but I thought that the maid “came with the house” which is why she was there for Ben and Vivian. But when the new family moved in last night there was no mention to them of the maid or that she was included with house ownership. And we never saw her working for them during their brief stint in the house. Am I wrong that the house was sold to Ben & Viv with the condition that the live-in maid stays on?

Yes you are. The realtor never mentioned the maid to the Harmons. Moira showed up, explained that she’d worked for the previous owners, and offered her services. I imagine she’d have done the same for the new family if they’d stayed.

Ah, ok thank you! I really need to go looking for the first 3 or 4 episodes that I missed. By the time I started catching up with the show with OnDemand they had already removed the first few episodes from the menu.

I think she chose to work for Ben and Viv.

Did anybody notice in the scene where she refuses to get Vivienne a tea, tells her “we’re equals now”, and says “I’d like that” to the invitation to call her by her first name, she still calls her “Mrs. Harmon” most of the time?

How did Ben realize Violet was dead? And what became of her body? (Det. Roc apparently doesn’t realize she’s dead.)

Well, she came out and told Ben that she was dead in last week’s episode. He probably didn’t know what to make of it at the time, but I’m guessing he put two and two together after the birth scene.

And, unless Constance decided to move it for whatever reason, I’m guessing her body is still there in the crawl space under the house. How long does the decomposition process take, when the body is exposed like that? Is it believeable that those new owners would not have noticed the smell?

I noticed that. I even corrected her once.

My guess is the same as gonzoron’s in terms of next season’s focus. Further,

Ben, Viv and Violet, together with the other good spirits in the house, will try to contain/stop the antichrist kid however they can. Which will be tricky since they can’t leave the house. Sure it sounds ‘jump-the-shark’-y, but this show is basically like buying tickets for a shark-jumping exhibition. It’s exempt from the rule.

Some interesting remarks from Ryan Murphy in this Entertainment Weekly article, including the fact this season’s storyline was planned beginning to end (as opposed to making it up as they went along). Not sure if it’s advanced (and canny) shilling for the eventual DVD release, but Murphy says, “I’m excited for people to see it on DVD, because now that they know how it ended, [they can] go back and see all of the little things, like people who have no reflections in mirrors. When you go back, you will see everything was set up.” Not a lot of clues as to what may be in store for the future, but Murphy does talk a bit about how this season’s arc wrapped up the story of the Harmons and gave Moira’s character a bit of a respite.

I think there’s a few different ways for the series to continue. We have one storyline with Constance and the demon-child, which seems to be separate from the Murder House itself at this point, and we have the good ghosts vs. bad ghosts now residing in the House. Even without new occupants, the ghosts’ individual storylines could be interesting to explore.

Apparently the next season won’t be set at the Murder House, it will be in a new setting. Which works for me. I really liked the season, but I thought it wrapped up everything pretty well. And someone said on a recap I read somewhere that the Ramos family moving in and moving out so quickly showed how we didn’t need to see more families cycling through the house because that would just get old. Or it showed that they were smart enough to get out of the house quickly, unlike white people who never leave haunted houses quickly enough.

Interesting! Works for me, too. I wonder if Constance and the demon-child will be part of a continuing thread, as Murphy does say he’d like to get Jessica Lange back.

The AV Club articletalks about it more, and it sounds like nothing character or storywise will carry over from season to season. Some of the actors might be back, but as totally new characters. I think I remember hearing that Heroes was going to try the same thing but that idea was scrapped when the show and the characters were so popular.

The weirdest part of that is Moira died what, 15 years ago? 20 at the most. So she’d only be in her mid 40s if Constance hadn’t shot her in the face.

Almost 30 years. She was killed in 1983. Frances Conroy (who played the older Moira) was born in '53, so she would have been 30 then and is almost 60 now. Alexandra Breckenridge (young Moira) was born in '82, so she’s almost 30 now. The ages match up, although they’ve made up older Moira to look much older than she really is.

Not really. She’s just “late 50s” in regular people years rather than Hollywood years (i.e. she hasn’t opted for all the plastic surgery) and the character is just made to be a bit dowdier than the real Frances Conroy. The wrinkles and the bad eye are actually her’s. (Recent “not in character” pic)

Really? That is a shame. Jessica Lange as Constance was the one thing I consistently enjoyed about the show, I don’t think I’ll bother if she’s not going to be back. Even the much anticipated (for me, anyway) demon-baby birth scene was kind of disappointing. I was really hoping for more of a clawing-out-of-the-uterus type thing, actually.

Not to mention the realtor’s comments about Spanish Hispanics being better than “ours”, and the Ramos’ being better able to endure the heat.

Heck, I kept thinking that the ghosts should pool their talents and just buy the house so they don’t need to worry about anyone moving in. The price of the house keeps dropping, so if they can find some way to make money they could probably afford it. I’m sure there are some antiques hidden away in the attic, Ben could continue his practice, etc. All they need is a contact outside the house- the Racist Realtor might do. I’m sure she’d be glad to be able to stop selling the house.
