Aww, don’t go dissin’ on Pauler- compared to Kara she was brilliant!

My faves from this week are Hispanic Gangsta Kid with Neck Tat and Foster Kid, both from Tuesday’s show. I didn’t think Humongous Black Guy with Short Tie was all that. (Did you know that ties are making a fashion comeback? And that the kids still have their pants on the ground, but now they’re skinny jeans? Fashion news from my 25-yr-old son.) I didn’t like Leukemia Girl much. Barney Girl made my son start singing all kinds of “I Hate You” Barney songs from when he was a kid. He cracked me up!

I agree, she was simply great, and the only reason I could come up with why Simon would say no was because NPH was so quick to say yes.

I was annoyed that Big Black Dock Worker made it. Apparently fat is okay for some performers; others are sneered at for being “no American Idol”. And he wasn’t even very good!

Yes, fat is okay for only some performers.

Just a general comment: I am sick of hearing people who have picked up all these bad habits and mannerisms. First they gasp in air, then they groan like deep emotions are being dragged from the very depths of their souls by a fishhook, then they wail as if they’re dying of melisma… I don’t want to hear someone who makes singing sound hard, I want to hear someone who makes it sound easy.

Yes, that was the same girl. I’m surprised they didn’t make more of it.

Am I remembering correctly that she was the child of some Hollywood-bigwig-type, and that’s why she was in the audience that close to the stage? If so, AI editors may not have wanted to stir up the inevitable ire over Simon tearing her a new one.

So what’s the age limit? When General Larry Platt said he was 62, Simon explained that the age limit is 28. Big black guy with short tie said he was 29.

I think it’s 30, actually. IIRC, Taylor Hicks had his 30th birthday during the show’s run.
