Between those two girls, I definitely think they made the right choice.
One of the pluses of spending time on this portion of the show is that there’s no cannon fodder. We’ve met and seen every last one of the finalists.
Unfortunately!
I hope Jaycee comes back too.
The best thing Jacee could have gotten from this show at this point in time in his life was probably that hug from J-Lo.
That might have triggered his puberty right there.
He came out of that singing like Scotty McCreery.
Casey and Paul are my early picks to take it all. Love them both.
The women are so weak this year. They could have gotten rid of half of them and included 6 more guys (including Jacee)
Sort of pulling for the bass player at this point. Nice to see somebody make it a glory instrument.
Ditto. I thought that was the plan – keep the best, rather than an even division between the men and women.
Much better crop than last season though.
The Bass player=Casey Abrams, right? Yeah, I really like that guy - he might not have the strongest voice, but he has touch, which is severely lacking every year on this show. Speaking of singers with no touch, Jacob Lusk is the poster boy for that - never met a note he couldn’t oversing, apparently.
Tim Halperin is interesting - I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do. I think he can sing; I think he’ll benefit massively from some coaching.
I like Casey best at this point. Jacob Lusk will be the most interesting one to watch - to find out if he’s got the control to be able to be effective on other song types, or whether he’ll just go bananas with everything like he did on ‘God Bless The Child’. That could get old fast.
There’s actually quite a bit of potential for some good performances this year, especially on the guy’s side. It looks to me like the girls are a little diva-heavy, with a lot of singers with great control and range but no real tone to speak of. They all sound the same. There are a couple of interesting ones, though.
Jacob needs to cut back on the caffeine. Randy has already primed me to dislike him despite his talent. ‘God Bless the Child’ was not the best performance on Idol ever.
I would have cut a couple of the male melismaniacs and taken all of the last three guys. Jacee’s Dock of the Bay beat anything obnoxious glasses dude ever did.
No idea if they are sticking to it, but I read that this year the final 12 does not have to be 6 males and 6 females. That would be when they allow it to be uneven, not at the 24 point.
I agree completely. Colton looked to have a lot of promise as well.
The problem with Jaycee is that they’re looking for an ‘Idol’, not just a good singer. It’s hard to see him as Idol material. It’s unfortunate that looks have to play a part in this, but they do. A kid as young as him would have to be a teen idol, and he’s just not going to get the tweeners screaming over him like Justin Bieber. Colton is much more likely to have that kind of career. Brett, I’m not so sure about. He needs to have those sunglasses surgically removed from his head.
But all three of them were definitely more interesting than a couple of other males they put through, so just for the sake of entertaining television, I would have put them all in.
I’m with you. Keeping the last 3 guys and jettisoning a couple others would have suited me just fine.
Casey Abrams was in the hospital since Wednesday, and was barely able to tape the show tonight. According to TMZ, he had severe stomach pains and had to receive a blood transfusion this morning. The taping should be going on right now, and he may end up having to return to the hospital afterwards.
Might I just note: “Boooo” to Fun Office Pools for not having a Top 24 option for their Idol pools this season.
I was wondering where your pool was.
Song spoilers for the Top 24 guys are up at mjsbigblog.com and elsewhere.
