I find it odd that they’re giving him a hard time for doing Norman when they specifically said in previous shows that they wanted him to continue to do Norman.
I can tell the judges are terrified that the voters are going to keep carrying Norman indefinitely and there’s nothing they can do about. He’s literally making a mockery of this show, and I think he’s a hero for it.
Everything after Norman is going to seem kind of anticlimactic now.
She’s doing “Alone.” Sounds fine so far. Bit of a rasp to the voice. Actually sounds pretty good in the chorus. Kind of a played song choice, but she making it her own.
That was the perfect song, though. He really is making fun of AI and that song was of course the “showstopper” song performed by Jennifer Hudson in the Dreamgirls movie adaptation, and it has been butchered by many AI hopefuls in the last couple of years.
Hmm…I guess Alison was pretty decent. (Still, no Wilson.) She had the personality and stage presense to deliver the song, which so many of them lack. But I just don’t think her reviews would have been so good if the three previous contestants hadn’t tanked so awfully.
“Man in the Mirror.” Starting out kind of breathy and toolish. Chorus is in key, but nothing special. Not the worst of the night but pretty forgettable.
Funny thing is, I heard this song on the radio this afternoon, and though, “if the guy who did the MJ song last week had done this one, he probably would have done quite well…”
I think Simon is hyping this dude a little just because he wants any guy at all to get voted in over Norman. He’s also obviously picked Gokey as his horse this year. That’s why it’s so important to vote for Gentle.
