American Idol 2/25-26

Nick is Norman tonight.

Doing that Showgirls tune again. Singing isn’t perfect, but still the best of the night, which isn’t saying much.

I knew Simon would hate it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he got through anyway. The more Simon hates him, the more I like him.

Hee Hee! Norman continues to ridicule the whole American Idol phenomenon. I am going to vote my ass off for him.

And he just called Simon “Sassypants!” :smiley:

I find it odd that they’re giving him a hard time for doing Norman when they specifically said in previous shows that they wanted him to continue to do Norman.

Paula is tanked.

I can tell the judges are terrified that the voters are going to keep carrying Norman indefinitely and there’s nothing they can do about. He’s literally making a mockery of this show, and I think he’s a hero for it.

Norman. I like him.

But why couldn’t he have picked a song he could actually sing while hamming it up? Is funny and singing well so impossible?

ETA: Norman’s father looked mortified.

Has anyone, ever, done well on Idol singing Alone (or Heart at all)?

I like Alison’s shoes.

Allison;

She’s kicking ass, although a bit flat on the “How do I get you alone” part…

Still, best of the night so far

Allison Iraheta

Everything after Norman is going to seem kind of anticlimactic now.

She’s doing “Alone.” Sounds fine so far. Bit of a rasp to the voice. Actually sounds pretty good in the chorus. Kind of a played song choice, but she making it her own.

Not bad at all.

That was the perfect song, though. He really is making fun of AI and that song was of course the “showstopper” song performed by Jennifer Hudson in the Dreamgirls movie adaptation, and it has been butchered by many AI hopefuls in the last couple of years.

Alison: finally somebody who chooses a song to play to her strengths, then sings it well.

Sadly, her personality is exactly what one would expect of an extroverted 16 year old girl. Painful to watch.

That was pretty good, red hair girl!

Hmm…I guess Alison was pretty decent. (Still, no Wilson.) She had the personality and stage presense to deliver the song, which so many of them lack. But I just don’t think her reviews would have been so good if the three previous contestants hadn’t tanked so awfully.

Allison was good. She needs a stylist.

Someone I’ve never seen before – Chris something?

“Man in the Mirror.” Starting out kind of breathy and toolish. Chorus is in key, but nothing special. Not the worst of the night but pretty forgettable.

Kris: back to mediocre singing of perplexingly odd song choices. This dude’s gone.

Paula Abdul is weepy drunk.

Kris;

I find he did a real good job of this one.

Funny thing is, I heard this song on the radio this afternoon, and though, “if the guy who did the MJ song last week had done this one, he probably would have done quite well…”

Add “Man in the Mirror” to the list of songs I don’t want to hear again on AI.

Good lookin’ out, Kris.

I think Simon is hyping this dude a little just because he wants any guy at all to get voted in over Norman. He’s also obviously picked Gokey as his horse this year. That’s why it’s so important to vote for Gentle.
