Good riddence on Sway though. He can go ahead and get to the auditions for The Engineer before it wraps its tour of Belgium, Finland and the Dutch Antilles. And David can stay home and star in the community theater’s production of Oklahoma.
I can’t speak for the cardboard cutout people you describe, but speaking for myself, I’m excited by his amazing talent based on everything I’ve seen of him so far from the auditions forward. He doesn’t yell. His voice has a raw coarseness at higher volumes. His pitch is perfect. He has never sung an off-key note. His voice is melodious, and its tone is beautiful. Frankly, the notion that people who like him are helpless victims of some mysterious quality of the show is rather condescending and insulting in its conception.
Does there exist any evidence whatsoever that she is a fraud?
I only said that people “spin,” and you hardly prove they don’t with this post.
I think a lot of people just think she acts a bit too Ellie Mae.
Just like Pauler can’t fake being coherent, I don’t think Kellie can fake being that Ellie May. Maybe we just happened to find the greatest undiscovered actress ever who can also kind of sing, or we found a girl from hillbilly town who is kind of a hillbilly. I think the second is a little more likely.
Nobody said she was a good actress.
Well, I don’t think there were any surprises last night. I thought the right ones were in the bottom three for both men and women, and the right people went home. Granted, this rarely happens. America and I must be on the same wavelength!
In all honesty, I think it’s time for Chicken Large to go home next week. He and either Will or Ace. I also think the Pickler and Kinnik are in danger next week. They’re just not up to the same caliber as the other performers.
I am a little shocked at Paula’s behavior last night. It’s not unusual for her to slur her words, of course, but she made a total ass of herself this time.
Calymary is octyapus!
I don’t think it’s a choice between good acting or stupidity. I think it’s a choice between BAD acting or stupidity. Either way, I find it hugely annoying.
Hey, is it just me, or was Heather the AI Stalker’s final sing-out the best she’s done on this stage? Maybe her problem was largely nerves.
Well, that & awful taste.
I am pleasantly surprised at how the voting went. I expected higher placement for the attitude of Brenna (who can’t stay in a key from one breath to the next) & for Bob the Quizno’s baby, I mean Squish, err… I mean the Owl, I mean Kevin Covais.
Good God, can someone different style Paris? She either looks 60, or just wrong. Bike shorts? what the hell??
And I’m fat too, and you won’t see me in a spaghetti strap shirt like Mandisa. More power to her, but I wouldn’t do it.
It seems like the loser’s sing-out is often their best performance for some reason. Saying that, though, Brenna’s sing-out was even more excruciating than her original performance.
I think he’s cute and a mature youngster, but I don’t see how he’s hung on this long. He did a cliched song and let’s face it, he has a speech impediment. I do respect the tone of his voice and it’s surprisingly good, but I thought he was more of a novelty act who will go home sooner rather than later.
No! It should have been Kinnik instead of you, my sweet Brenna. Next week we will getsss our revenge. Yessss.
Ditto. Personally, I don’t see how he made it past the auditions.
However, I get the feeling that his being in the bottom 3 last night will galvanize his supporters into a phone frenzy next week.
My top 4 guys at the moment are: Chris, Taylor, Elliot and Gedeon.
Top girls: Mandisa, Paris, Lisa, and surprising even to me, I’m starting to like the Pickler.
Actually, you said more than that. You contrasted excited people who spin things with yourself, ostensibly the epitome of rational calm. And then you said that he sang by yelling:
I don’t know what about this show excites people to put so much spin on their remarks, but I’m not quite ready to annoint Chris The Next Great Rocker because he did a competent mini-cover of a fairly forgettable 90’s song. You know, it’s not that hard to yell-sing the way Chris does.
I fired up iTunes and looked up the Fuel song Chris did on Wednesday. Yep, his version was better than the original.
Well, it’s not that hard to yell-sing the way Chris does. And I am baffled by the praise heaped on him. This was not a personal attack, so I’m sorry your offended.
In other words, there’s no evidence that she’s a fraud.
He doesn’t yell-sing; he sings melodiously. And I’m not offended; I’d have to care first.
I’m pleased with the cuts. Yes, I slightly preferred David to Kevin, but it was a tiny margin and I think Kevin will be out next week anyway.
Chris, Taylor, and Elliott are my favorites. Taylor’s got the voice I like best. Chris sings the songs I like best. Elliott has a great voice and I fear that he’s going to be overlooked, so go, Elliott, go!
