American Idol 3/28, Songs of the 21st Century

Or if you prefer, The Week Ace Goes Home. Let’s all have a good time and be excellent to each other.

Don’t be so sure. He wasn’t in the bottom 3 last week, was he?

Bucky, perhaps.

[totally not on topic]
I wrote this in the wedding card for my sister and brother-in-law. It was the best piece of advice that anybody gave us when we got married, and I wanted to share. So, thanks for a hppy memory!
[/off topic]

I have no idea who’s going to sing what this week, but if Mandisa has the nerve to sing “My Milkshake” she’ll be my new hero. And I’m hoping for Pickler to go home, but Ace is my second choice, so.

Party on, rockle!

The only reason I want Kellie to stick around is so I can hear her try to top her own stupidity every week.

Actually now that I think it over, it might be Lisa on the chopping block, and that’s fine by me.

There’s no way Mandisa is going to sing “Milkshake.” It has very little melody. (It’s a horrible song, too. Blech.) I think she could do much better.

I’d like to see Kellie go home this week, but I’m pretty much counting on saying buh-bye to Bucky. I think this might be an interesting week for some contestants who have up to this point stuck to the classics, so to speak. Also, the show is cut down to an hour this week, so we won’t have to sit through quite so many commercials. Yay!

All things being equal and without any major blowouts by the contestants, Bucky is my choice as well. He’s not particularly terrible. He’s just the least talented of the bunch.

Who knows. Lisa was in the bottom three last week and I think she’s one weak performance away from leaving. However talented Elliot may be, he hasn’t put together a really strong showing. I’d dearly love to see Ace get bounced.

At least we can be pretty sure that Chris won’t face criticism for stealing someone else’s remake idea this week.

I don’t want The Pickler to go home. I love to hate her. Ace, on the other hand, sucks so hard he makes my TV screen go concave.

Am I the only one who read this and heard a shrill guitar cord?

I hope not.

OK, how 'bout a guitar chord?

Eye spel reel gud!

My only prediction, in an emendment of last week’s post, will be Bucky sings Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying”.

“All…we…are…is…dust…in…the…wind.”

That was, in fact, the P.S. to the wedding card. Seriously, it’s the best advice you can give to people who are clearly made for each other, you know?

I was kidding about “Milkshake.” I don’t think that Mandisa would do it, plus I don’t think it would clear the censors anyway. It will be an interesting week, though. I am not familiar with a lot of “new” music because I am an old fart whose last 30 iTunes purchases included Donna Summer, the Outfield, Def Leppard, and random assorted hits of Duran Duran. So.

We should get together and compare old fart music. I lean a little towards R&B and classic rock. Also, forgive me '80s music gods, I don’t like Duran Duran. Other than that, me 'n you are likethis.

Oh, and I’ve got a really, really tasteless joke I’d like to share about one of those there groups rockle downloaded. But I don’t want people to get all bent out of shape over it. Hmmmmm. Better to say I have a tasteless joke and not post it and have everybody wondering about it than to post it and have people at each other’s throats.

I bet it’s Def Leppard.

I kept telling myself that, but thank you for reassuring me. I think waaaaayyy too highly of you for it to have been true. (Though I was willing to give you a pass based on past experience.) And yeah, it would never make it past the censors. That’s one naughty song!

I’m having a difficult time trying to think what people could sing tonight. For some reason, I have the “Wayne’s World” theme stuck in my head. Scha-wing!

You are correct!

Wait … these things about Def Leppard … should I already know them? You can email me at my profile address if you want. You can probably guess that I love a good tasteless joke. Or a bad one, even.

And believe me, it’s OK if you don’t like Duran Duran. I think of them as the Brussels sprouts of 80’s music: some people love them, some people hate them, nobody really just “likes” them.

The only thing is, if you ever diss on Lisa Lisa (either with or without Cult Jam and/or Full Force), we’re gonna have words.

You should be singing Wyld Stallyon, because we’re all referencing “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.” I think. I know I am.

What did it to me was the “Party on, rockle,” which is definitely “Wayne’s World.” You know, “Party on, Wayne.” “Party on, Garth.”

Let me guess, does the Def Leppard joke have something to do with a one-armed drummer? Why don’t you just put it in spoiler tags and let those of us who are already going to hell take a look at it.
