Simon is completely wrong and full of crap and doesn’t know what he’s talking about because he doesn’t actually know anything about music. All that he knows is that he doesn’t have the slightest idea how to market something like that, so it makes his mercenary little brain go haywire.

Adam did not perform in the spirit of country and western. He took a pass rather than try.
This is one of Scott’s better performances, but I still don’t think he’s a very intersting performer. He seems like a nice guy, but he bores me, and the patronizing comments get really annoying.

Dude was doing 140. If he lost control, it would’ve been an epic disaster - but he didn’t, and since he didn’t, it’s the opposite of that. That’s the riskiest thing we may see all season.
At the beginning of the season, I didn’t think he was going to be very good. I thought he had a decent natural gift, but it wouldn’t be enough to get him very far. I was wrong.
We see that all the time, though. Carrie Underwood ducked every theme too. And country sucks anyway, so it’s a good one to dodge.
Scott lacks range. He has a pleasant little voice and not much is memorable.
I loved Adam and I loved his refusal to pay homage to country music. I find him impossible to look at, but he is far better than anyone else this year. Its no surprise he comes from theater. I think he spends as much time figuring out where the cameras are placed as he does memorizing the words.
Valid point. I would be afraid that Adam doing country straight would come across as parody. I’d be a fine line to walk.

Why should someone sing in a C/W style when its not who they are? I (reluctantly) liked Adam’s performance more than Lil’s. She seemed to try to sing it as it was originally sung and he did something different with it.
I never liked “Jolene.”
It would still be more entertaining than Gokey – and not really much different.
