She never looks like she’s having fun.
Did they announce the theme for next week?
Dialidol.com predicted Katharine as being the most likely to go. I didn’t believe it, but they were close.
I figured he’d do NIN’s version of Johnny Cash’s version of Hurt by NIN.
P.S. Why do I always feel invisible in these threads? I’m not interesting enough to “ignore”. Anyone wanna answer my question in post 193? Kthxbye.
I think their soundstage is sorely lacking, myself. I couldn’t hear half of Shakira, either.
I only watched a few seconds of Shakira. She epitomizes goat singing to me. That said, the guy who was singing was really, really loud. I could hear her but didn’t want to.
She was singing? Sorry, I was sort of, um… I remember looking at the TV, but I don’t remember much of the audio.
Bingo, and then the judges would praise his innovating arrangement ;).
YEEEAH, Country next week :D. I know a lot of you fellas don’t like country, but as last year’s competition showed (and the success of Bucky and Kelly this year), there are far more country fans in the US than you guys think (I seem to remember someone last year saying Bo would win because there weren’t that many country fans out there to beat a rock guy :D).
I’d listen to Chris could do a Steve Earle song. Or Bucky.
Taylor might do okay with Charlie Rich, but maybe I’m thinking of the gray hair more than the voice.
I agree with whoever it was who was yelling for Mandisa to stop wearing jeans. She looks awful in them. She’s much more attractive in dresses.
I will not stop yelling until she gets back into a dress or leaves the show.
Katharine’s too sophisticated for most of the voting audience. Remember, these are people who kept Bucky and Kellie out of the bottom three this week.
It’s sad to see the great Wyclef Jean reduced to playing a pop tart’s organ monkey.
I don’t mind having Shakira on this show, even if it was just for a crass plug (like that’s anything new), but she should’ve sung 1. in her native tongue 2. alone. I hate her English singing (compare Suerte and Whenever Wherever, it isn’t even close), and Nelly or whoever he was almost completely upstaged her. Having star power is good, but you gotta know how to use it, knowhutImean?
Godspeed, Lisa Tucker. Take pride in making it this far, and good luck on the tour.
Next week should be fun to watch. Ace is having an absolutely unbelievable run, Katherine just got a huge scare, Paris seemingly can’t stop blowing hot and cold, and Taylor is as unpredictable as Hawaii winter weather. This could be make-or-break time for Chris and Mandisa, and Kellie, for the love of cornpone, has a chance to light it up and make a run.
Hold on a sec…I actually said American Idol should be fun to watch? I…I’m just doing it for the discussions! You gotta believe me!
I’m such a sap. I started tearing up a little when I saw Paris crying. Katherine sure didn’t expect to be in the bottom 3 after the judges praised her screeching on Tuesday.
Please, no cowboy hats next week- Mandisa, Paris, Katherine, Ace, Elliot, Chris and Taylor.
Really sick of Fox promoting Ice Age II.
I had a dream that Lisa is Bette Midler’s daughter.
I wasn’t crazy about Katharine’s song choice, but she hardly screeched. She sang the song well and in tune.
Word.
Country next week? Oh Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
P.S. Papsett, I just wanted to let you know you’re not the only one enjoying the view.
Holy shit. I agree with lissener on something. Somebody write this down!
I don’t think country week should be too bad. I’m not a huge country fan, but there are a handful of artists I enjoy. Also, just because the original is twangy, doesn’t mean the AI contestants need to sing it that way. This might be a chance for some of them to really put an original spin on a song instead of just singing it exactly the way the original artist did. Also, there’s a pretty broad range of country. These days there are quite a few country crossover artists as the lines are becoming blurred between country and pop. As long as nobody sings Toby Keith, I’ll be happy.
Btw, does anyone think if Chris tries to “Creed Up” a country song, he’ll easily fall into the bottom 3? I think a lot of people are getting sick of him basically singing the same song over and over again.
Yes, Chris should be OK with one of the Nashville Musik Mafia songs. They kind of rock out but wouldn’t “cross the line”.
I think a “Big and Rich” song would be perfect for him, but I wonder if their company has agreed to let American Idol use their songs? Or does that not matter?
No, no! I’m totally with you. I always got the impression that Simon (or someone) told Randy at some point that he needed to come up with something constructive and specific rather than just whether it was “hot” or “just ai’ight,” so he came up with “pitchy.” (I haven’t watched regularly since season 1, so I’m not sure when Randy started using this term).
I’m no singer. I don’t know the difference between sharp and flat or whatever. I just know when it seems off to me and when it doesn’t, so I’m never sure if Randy is actually correct when he uses the term. It always sounds like a cop-out to me.
I met Shakira last year and I wasn’t a fan of her music (never heard any of it, actually) but she was one of the sweetest, lovliest celebs I’ve ever met. Very friendly and signed every single autograph that anyone asked of her. To this day I’ve barely heard any of her music, but what a nice girl.[/hijack]
I can still say I haven’t heard her music, since I missed all but the last 5 minutes of Wednesday’s show (I’m blocking out the time I flipped over from “Lost” and caught part of the horrifying car commercial/prancing-down-the-street ‘music video.’ My eyes, my eyes!)
