American Idol 3/30-3/31

I’m so tired of “that big note at the end.” Not just with Didi or even just with this season.

Didi…eh.

No, Seacrest, it’s not “important for people to know why” about anything that’s ever happened on this show, or ever will happen. It’s a karaoke game show. It’s impossible for anything to be important about it.

Not just the prom dress, the hair, the makeup, Didi actually looks really gorgeous.

shudder Totally Paula moment there. Sorry.

That arrangement was purely awful, it sucked all the life and rhythm out of a catchy song. I don’t know how much of the arrangements are the singer and how much is in the hands of the band, and what communication breakdowns might happen between there, but just ack. It ruined any chance she coulda had with that.

The only thing I can say about Didi is, it wasn’t as horrible as I thought it would be based on the mentorship clip.

I don’t get why you’re floundering and you decide Anita Baker is the answer. I mean, when you’re a dude. The dude-doing-a-girl-song is almost always a bad decision.

I imagine she asked Ryan to say something and Ryan is good natured enough to say something.

I, for one, don’t care if a singer is having fun when they are butchering a song.

Man, this is like velveeta on cheddar. So much cheese.

Tim is putting me to sleep

I always think of “I just had fun with it” as the last defense available. What else can they say when they do everything they can think of to do and it just doesn’t work? Somehow the having fun with it thing became the meme.

Randy sang that better than the kid did.

Yeah, I guess I can see that. If you know you weren’t good and don’t want to be seen as a sore loser you don’t have much else to say but “I had fun.” OK, I’ll cut them some slack.

How is little whitey white bread Tim supposed to be helped by Randy saying “There was no swag. No vibe. Put a little grease on it.”

And are the judges just trying to make the kid cry? Nervous giggles, what a foreign concept!

Lol.
Ellen is funny.

Tim clearly knows he should have been gone weeks ago, is happy he made the tour, and from here on out is not gonna give a shit in the least. And oddly enough, I like him a lot better for it.

I have to admit, I was kind of entertained by Turban because it was so corny. It made me laugh. I’m sure his girlfriend loved it.

I’ve never liked the “I had fun” meme either. It’s a pretty common thing for a lot of performers to say. You hear it from actors a lot too. Like anyone cares if they had fun. Burt Reynolds and his posse looked like they were having a lot of fun on those Cannonball Run movies. They still sucked ass.

Usher seems to have pulled Andrew out of that eddy of suckitude he was swirling down.

A Chris Brown song? Why not just do an O.J. Simpson song? I’m sorry, but I just can’t respect anybody that would sing a Chris Brown song.

On the one hand, Dio is right–Chris Brown should be universally reviled. On the other hand, Andrew did really well with it.
