While I don’t disagree with the choice tonight, I always liked
Ashthon (except for that stupid extra H).
She’s not the best singer (by far!), but there was something about her that I always thought was just really cool and fun. Some of the other people irritate me a lot more, even though they are better singers.
I think it’s hysterical that they don’t even bother to hide how little they care about their own competition. I mean, who needs to focus on the small-town amateurs when they could use that precious prime-time, 18-35 year-old focused hour to promote “Little Red Riding Hood”? What used to be an emotional, tension-filled night morphed into a showcase for OTHER artists, followed by a rushed, disjointed, “Oh yeah, the rest of you on the couch are safe, too.”
From this article about Casey missing last night due to being sick:
“not just because it would’ve been a hoot to see him try to lip-synch “Wanna Be Startin’ Something” during the finalists’ Michael Jackson-medley group number.”
Not that the author of this article necessarily knows anymore then any other random person watching the show of course, and personally, I wasn’t paying close enough attention to notice. I hate when they take great songs and Muzac them into light boring dreck.
Yeah, but he did the same thing throughout Maggie May, which I think is also not really a song-full-o-smiles, but that one sounded good enough it didn’t matter. I’m willing to give him another shot because I actually kind of like the uniqueness of his voice.
She’d already been saved by the judges once. To save such a marginal contestant twice would have been foolhardy. So I honestly don’t think it mattered what she sang; she was going home.
