American Idol 4/12

Well, this is covering two nights. IIRC, during previous seasons we had one thread for the performance show and one for the results. So this thread is only as long as two such threads combined.

Has anyone here ever gotten through to cast a vote by phone? I’ve been trying but so far, no luck.

Just keep trying. The first ten minutes of the voting window are always the most trafficked.

Anthony doesn’t need a deal with the devil. I realize now (like in the last day) that while to people like me, he’s obviously outclassed, to people like me when I was teenager (especially female versions thereof), he’s the favorite. Anthony, like Constantine & Carrie, has never been in the bottom three after a Tuesday night vote since the finals started. The only time he’s been in the bottom three was after the do-over show, & that was unexpected & shown an hour later. I now suspect that Anthony may have gotten more votes over the course of the season than anyone. He’s the invisible front-runner who looks like the underdog (which is part of his appeal).

Anthony is the nice, clean-cut young man. Bo & Constantine are very masculine, but Anthony is a perfect teen sex symbol, in part because he’s so humble & decent. He’s the anti-Constantine; they’re the angel & the incubus. In a final between Anthony & Constantine, fan’s phones would suffer two month’s worth of wear in two hours, & phone lines might actually catch fire.

Of course, at this point, Constantine & Vonzell look like the leaders. The Constantine/Anthony match may never get to a Final Two head-to-head.

I still say Bo and Carrie.

Oh? I haven’t said that yet? Well I’m saying it now.
God please kill Scott and Anthony both.

I got the same impression. He went from rock opera to bluesy jazz, on the last 4 notes. Overall, he did a fine job. My new delight is watching the Connie haters get twisted out of shape having to say the guy has talent.

Bo’s version rocked. I know opinions are all over the board here, but he had very little time to cover a long song, with no build up and more of an orchestra than a band.

Nadia has a gorgeous voice, but both she and Bo are too damn cavalier in their music selections.

Anwar is powerful within an octave of the upper register, but is too much of a romantic for AI.

Interesting insights; didn’t see them in last post.

Vonzell is good, fun and has a hot bod, but I can’t see myself plopping down $18 for one of her CDs. She very good, but doesn’t have the 'it" factor, in my book. Ditto Carrie.

Looking at Bo, the first thing that sprang to mind was: He should be cast in “Jesus Christ, Superstar.”

I can also see Connie going the way of Broadway.

For me it’s just the opposite, the only ones I would plop down $12 bucks (They’re cheaper here) for a cd would be Vonzelle & Carrie. But I’ve yet to buy a AI cd and probably won’t anyway, there’s way too much good original music out there–except for William Hung for my neice as a joke.

As far as them not being as great performers as some of the others…I don’t have any desire to see any of these people in concert, so their stage presence doesn’t matter to me. When it’s in the cd player stage presence means nothing.
