American Idol 4/15 and 4/16

I guess it isn’t all that nice but what the hell…
WHOO-HOO!!!

Agreed. Afterall, that woman brought Lee Greenwood into my home.

Okay, I really liked the way

Kristy sat there and sang the first part of her sing-out to Simon, embarrassing the hell out of him. Even dark as it was, you could tell he was actually blushing!

I had to run to the neighbors for a minute. When I left David A hadn’t been assigned anywhere. When I returned, Kristie and Brooke were standing there.
Please tell me what happened in between.

She should have forced Simon to go on stage with her at the end.

Yay.

Now things will get really boring. No one to hate and no one to love. I wish Chikeze was still around. Or Gay Danny.

David A. was declared safe, and Ryan asked him which group he thought he should join. So he sat down on the stage. Ryan told him he’d have to move closer to the David C/Carly/Jason group, but apparently he didn’t hear him, so Ryan had that group come over, and David C and Jason both sat down on the stage, too. Carly, being in a short dress and heels, couldn’t, but Ryan finally got them all up.

In other words, the usual stupid “pick a group” games.

ETA: That was in answer to slanted zipper’s question.

What the…

This is the week? That KLC? Gets booted? THIS week??

Is this show trying to make me look like the biggest moron on the planet or something?

Seriously, it was a good choice, and I’m glad as anyone that Castro didn’t get screwed by Screaming Eagle Night after all. But this is like Bob Knight indulging in every abuse of power imaginable and turning a university’s basketball program into a nightmare, then getting canned for snapping at some stupid brat on the street. It’s just off, y’know?

When I returned, Kristie and Brooke were standing there.
Please tell me what happened in between.

The usual week 6 stuff. They had two groups of three and they told David A he was safe and should join the safe group, but not which group it was. He sat in the middle, unwilling to make the call. Oh, and Ryan made Jason and Syesha trade places first. They’d swapped them around to make people a little less sure what they were doing.

Didn’t he make David C change with Syesha? Jason stayed put, I thought.

Not that it much mattered because we knew they’d both be safe.

Moving David Cook was essentially screwing with Kristy Lee and Brooke just like he screwed with Michael Johns last week. You could tell they were thinking, “hey, I’m in the group with David Cook! I’m safe this week!”. Then when Ryan switched him with Syesha, they all immediately knew the cold truth.

I’m guessing the show does this intentionally to try to rack up the emotions and get them crying and all that. It’s probably good for ratings.

Yeah, I couldn’t remember who switched.

She should have been gone quite some time ago.

Still, I’m a bit surprised it wasn’t Brooke - I thought she was worse this particular week.

Just finished watching it, and I think that David A did hear him, but didn’t want to have to by his actions say who was the “loser” group, and so decided not to do it.

Isn’t that what the chooser does pretty much every other year? Stays put and then gets to look like the nice guy? Such a cheesy stunt, and the audience just eats it up. Maybe once I saw the chooser actually join a group, but I don’t remember who it was. Blake, maybe?

Hot DAMN!

I think they are getting picked off more for their overall standing in the pack rather than their performance in any particular week. For instance, I thought Michael Johns did okay last week - and so did the judges - but he had played out his hand. Everyone could tell by that point he wasn’t going to do anything other than what he had always done, and it was time for him to go. The deadwood is getting picked off until we get to the top four or five and individual performances will really start to matter.

At this moment, I think it will go down like so:

Syesha, Brooke, Jason, Carly, David A - David C. wins

I had a lot of trouble deciding places 3 and 4 but at some point I think versatility and range trumps charm. However, a truly mind-blowing, spectacular, world-changing performance or a complete and utter meltdown on stage could switch some of these places around as they start doing multiple songs and tensions run high.

We could still get a big ‘shocker’ moment, who knows?

Yeah, I pretty much agree with that order. Though I wish Brooke would go a little higher, and David A. a little lower. But she appears to have hit her limit. I’d love it if she came out next week and turned in one of those killer performances that push also-rans into the front - Jordan Sparks had one of those last year. But I just don’t know if she’s got it in her. If not, she’s done pretty soon.

Carly is really hard to peg. She gets more criticism than almost anyone, and she has pretty uneven performances. Yet, she seems to have a real fan base, and you just know she’s still got one of those killer performances somewhere that she could trot out and change the game. So she’s a real wildcard.

Of the guys, the current standings are certainly Jason, David A, and David Cooke, from 3rd to 1st. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jason squeak past David - Jason’s another one that can turn in a killer performance, and I’m not sure we’ll see another one from David A.

I came in mid-way and saw David Cook standing with Brook and Kristy Lee - my stomach sank. I really have to prepare myself for a horrible turn of events and him getting kicked off prematurely.

Did I hear right - Andrew Lloyd Weber night next week? I hate musicals so I don’t know many of his songs, but I think that could give the real singers something to sink their teeth into next week.

I expect to see a Carrie Underwood, Kelly Pickler and Kristy Lee Cook All-Country American Idol Revue some time soon. Well, I won’t be seeing it except at gunpoint, but I expect to hear about its existence.

Season 4, Bo stood in the middle. Season 5, Taylor walked to one group and shook hands with them, then retreated to the other group just as Ryan was starting to correct him. Season 6, Melinda sat in the middle.

Season 3, though, was cruel. That was the first time they did this, and the chooser was George Huff, who was not automatically safe. Ryan told him to choose the top group, so he started towards the three divas. Ryan said, “Watch this, America…No no, George, I said the top group!” Pandemonium.

I am just now finishing watching this on tape since getting in from work. Yes. You heard correctly. Andrew Lloyd Weber will be the “mentor” next week. I could see that going really well for those who make the right choices and disasterously for those who don’t make smart choices. I’m intrigued what David Cook could do that would suit his style. Something from *Jesus Christ Superstar * or Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat? Who will do “Memories” from Cats? Archuleta? Will Syesha have the nerve to pull off “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”? And Jason Castro? I am at a complete loss.

The mind reels.
