To be fair, it’s most likely the producers telling Seacrest to say that.
I actually liked Haley this time, but then, she picked a great song.
I found Stefano and Lauren rather dull this time but enjoyed the others. I love it that James did a Muse song. I would like to see Scotty go non-country.
Who else wants to bet that Jacob will be little more than a puddle on the floor when he gets the boot?
Yay! Now there are four of us! (I kid. Someone’s gotta like them if they get air time.)
I like them too, when Adam Levine threatens violence.
(There’s something very wrong with me.)
He told Casey that he “is just so fucking good”.
He said something else that got bleeped a moment later, but they had the camera on Casey so there was no way to lip-read that one.
He did one a few weeks back. As much as I don’t care for him, he did a really good job with it.
I have to assume that little kiss was planned, right?
ETA, it looks like I must have been thinking of That’s Alright Mama for Scotty’s Non Country Song, and while that’s still a very country-ish song, it’s was (IMO) out of his comfort zone and I think he did a good job with it. Of course, it was still pretty well tailored for his voice.
Dude, check out Assassin by Muse. It’s my favorite song of theirs and it’s on Guitar Hero World Tour.
Anyway, James was good. I actually liked Haley. Casey was OK. Jacob and Scotty both annoy me a great deal. Lauren and Stefano are wallpaper.
I’m guessing Jacob is shown the door.
Scotty has to be careful what he is doing to that microphone on stage - it is starting to look like Gay porn.
To be honest, none of them are “wow” at this point, although most are good enough to listen to and be slightly entertained. I think James and Casey have the strongest talent, but both have a niche that might not allow them to actually win.
Scotty will probably win. America likes the safest, blandest, most stupid thing.
I don’t like metal and I don’t particularly like James, but I think he did a great job. The show is getting hard to watch, though. I don’t see anyone as all that interesting. I think Paul had the most interesting voice, but he kept choosing songs where you couldn’t hear it—too rocky. I would have liked to hear him sing something that highlighted the tone of his voice, something like Elton John’s Your Song, a James Taylor song, something by Dylan, or Nick Cave’s Into Your Arms. But no, “I’m a fun rocker and I want to stay true to who I am and have a good time.” Good for you. Guess your goal was to spectate. At this point I’d like James to sing something beautiful, without all the costuming and affectation. Like
Jacob: Great voice, but I can’t watch him fuck up every song he sings by “making it his own”. Everything is so cloying.
Stephano: Please. Not every word of every song is packed with emotion that tears your heart out. I’d like to see him sing Happy Birthday and see if he can stop from clutching his chest with his fists in angst.
Scotty: Nice voice for country. I’d love to hear him do something way out of his wheelhouse. But he doesn’t have the voice chops to stray much, if at all. PLus I just don’t like his head being sideways 30% of each song. and the thing with the mic, dude, you really may want to rethink that as your signature unless you’re playing at a birthday party for Cowboy Curtis. ( from The Pee Wee Herman Show.)
Casey: I really like him when he does the jazzy thing. Otherwise, he reminds me of Stephano trying to sing like James. I appreciate that he’s so willing to try so many things, but rock is not one of them. I do think he’s a real artist and a great musician.
Lauren: I didn’t care for her performance much and I think the judges gave her some good advice. I think I “like” her the best out of everyone. But she needs to bring it now. I’d love to hear her sing Baby It’s You, as A Band Called Smith did it many years ago. (The version Quentin T. used in that Roadhouse movie.)
Haley: I think she should stick to the type of song she did last night. But I think she’s quite full of herself. Almost pretty, but in a weird way
And judges, grow some friggin balls, will ya. Stephen Tyler, you’re SUPPOSED to be criticizing the singers. It’s a competition and they could really use your help. Supposedly you know something about singing, so can we put an end to the “It was beautiful, man. Just beautiful. And I’m surprised because you’re such a beautiful person.” simon could be a dick at times, but he was right most of it. And HELPFUL!
That is all…
I’m concerned that Durbin’s production values are carrying the weight of his performances.
His screamy signature reminds me of Siobhan from last year. I’d say it’s Lauren’s to lose at this point, she’s really starting to sell it. Clever girl. But with the present voting system it’s anybody’s guess. I guess.
Stefano and Jacob in the bottom three…I’m happy with that. I know a lot of people like them, and I understand that, I really do. But Stefano, well, we’ve discussed him and as for Jacob, I’ve never liked that Neville Brother’s sound, no matter who’s face it comes out of and I just don’t like his voice on top of it.
But Casey and Haley are here for another week, so I’m happy.
Durbin nearly tackling Stefano at the end of his sing-out was pretty adorable. It’s clear those two were very close. Stefano was incredibly classy.
Just realized that I had no idea what Stefano’s last name was until Ryan said it at the closing. Wow, I’m usually so into everyone’s little story and I never once have even wondered about his name.
Still wishing Jacob would GO!
Bye, Baby Joey. You know, of all the contestants that are left, he’s the one that I don’t think has a chance of a career past this. Well, maybe as an entertainer on a cruise ship.
(Anybody going to bookmark this post to throw in my face in two years? )
There have been 7 eliminations thus far, and Scotty, James, and Lauren have yet to be in the bottom 3. I can understand Scotty having his following and I think James is bringing it every week, but how in the heck has Lauren not been in the bottom 3?
IMO, she has not anything memorable.
The same reason Kelly Pickler hung around so long. America loves a cute blond with a southern accent.
I thought Lauren was one of the best in the early rounds, and I think that’s carrying her popularity in these rounds. But, she hasn’t done anything memorable since the concerts started. I don’t think she really believes she’s as good as the other singers in the now top 6 and it’s hurting her live performances.
No surprise. Jacob can go next, though.
