Yeah, I know, it’s a day early, but I’ll be leaving to go on vacation in a few hours.
So, betonsports.com has finally gotten around to updating their AI odds. Here’s what we’ve got:
Carrie Underwood: -140 ($140 bet gets you $100 profit) Bo Bice: +110 ($100 bet gets you $110 profit) Vonzell Solomon: +400 ($100 bet gets you $400 profit)
No real surprises, but if they had given Bo something like a 2:1 odds, I’d be sorely tempted to lay down a few bucks on him.
Oh, and don’t forget – bonus show this week. Some sort of Worst Auditions or something on Thursday (although somehow, I have a feeling Ryan may give this a passing mention or two during the regular shows  ).
Ok, carry on with the general Idol chatter…
…while I do my best to spend the week at a resort without finding out who gets the boot until I get home and watch it.
I don’t get why Carrie is favored to win. Is it because she’s blonde?
I’m hoping it will end up Bo and Vonzell, but I fear that it will be Bo and Carrie. As long as Bo wins, I’ll be satisfied. If Carrie wins, I’m not watching next season.
Inygrrl, I feel your pain … of course, I said the same thing the week Carmen-the-Goat-Girl did not get sent home (because Craggle Clark was send packing). “I’m furious and I will never watch again!” And yet, the show continues to suck me in, week after gosh darn week. I’m pathetic, really. But then I consider my CD collection and realize: I only own one album from an Idol contestant, and it’s Kim Locke, so probably I will buy Bo’s record if he doesn’t win.
This information will not help you, of course, but I thought I’d share.
I heard that it will be three songs each, one chosen by judges, one by the performer, and one by a guest judge. There’s a rumour that Bo’s judge-selected song will be “Satisfaction.”
Thank goodness for American Idol. It’s giving me something to look forward to on today, the most crappiest of days I’ve had in a long time. And if shadowfax’s spoiler is correct, I’m going to be a very happy girl in just a few hours. Thanks for that!
More spoilers…
According to the AP, NEW YORK May 13, 2005 — Record mogul Clive Davis is returning to “American Idol” to give his expert opinion on this year’s remaining finalists.
From a post on the spoilers thread over at TWoP,
Judge’s Choice

Vonzell - On the Radio (Donna Summer - chosen by Simon)
Clive Davis’ Choice
Bo - Sweet Home Alabama (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
Carrie - Crying (Roy Orbison)
Vonzell - Power Of Love (Celine Dion)
I have no idea whether or not the spoiler from TWoP is accurate, so I’d take it with several grains of salt. Maybe even a handful.
We knew this season couldn’t end without hearing Bo do Sweet Home Alabama, either that or Drift Away, and we’ve still got next week to hope for that.
rockle given our taste similarities so far, would it surprise you at all to know the only AI disc I’ve ever bought was Kim Locke’s too? Ok, I own Season 2’s holiday schmaltz CD but I didn’t buy it, so that one doesn’t count.
I disagree, RickJay. As she proved with Alone, she can belt out the high notes with beautiful tone, and Orbison gives her the opportunity to do exactly that.
I gotta say, if that’s what he’s going to sing, Bo’s tunes are pretty boring. More overplayed classic rock. I love classic rock, but I really don’t need to hear those tunes again and highly doubt he’ll do anything interesting or new with them. However, I know tons of people (especially Bo’s base) will love to hear them, so it’s great for him in context of the competition.
Hmm … so far the spoilers are wrong, because I didn’t see this song on any of the lists. I kind of feel bad for Vonzell, because she isn’t doing very well. Not awful, but not as well as she could do. Flat up until the key change, and still not quite on pitch after, except for the big notes. And her diction … does it sound to anyone else like she is singing “hode on”?
