Huh??? How did that happen??? Not that I care that much. Those Italian boys singing that old chestnut “O Solo Mio” were the most talent I’ve seen on this thing all season.
Surprised and not the result I was hoping for tonight, but I was pretty psyched by the Avett Brothers song playing over Scotty’s homecoming!
I fast forwarded through that, which AB song was it?
Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promise. I just started listening to AB recently, and have just fallen in love with their music, so it was really awesome to hear that!
Oh well - no big surprise there. Tuesdays nights are freed up again!
Yee haw, we got us a showdown with BOTH kinds of music - Country AND Western!
Wake me up when next season starts…
Haley looked pretty pissed about losing, then realized she had to put on a happy face and turned in a pretty good performance including some fun ad-libs at the end.
I can’t believe Lauren and Scotty are the two best performers this show could manage to drag to the finish line after auditioning hundreds of thousands of people. But that’s usually the way I feel at the end of a season of AI.
Yee haw indeed.
I was going to say maybe they could change the rules to get rid of country since it isn’t pop, but I think AI is pretty much done, so it’s moot.
I loved those guys!
Still hate country. Still think Scotty is the most adorable thing ever. Maybe even more so after watching his homecoming.
No question who the next Idol will be. And as I’ve said many times, I expect him to have a very long and successful career.
Two teenage country singers. Probably the most commercial potential of the top 5. 95 million supposed votes… Sort of makes you wonder…
A two hour results show next week?! Apparently it IS possible to drag things out more than they already have been. Thank god for DVR …
Not surprised by anything but how pissed Haley looked to lose. But she showed an appropriate amount of gratitude after she put on her happy face. And she rocked out to “Benny & the Jets” even though I wish she wouldn’t growl so much. It’s going to ruin her throat.
Ah well. I suppose I’ll tune in to the last 5 minutes to see who wins, but now way am I watching 1 hour 55 minutes of filler.
Well slap me silly. This is a great idea!
Yeah, I’m usually interested enough to watch the ultimate show in its entirety, but I think I’ll be fast-forwarding through most of this year’s [del]Nashville Star[/del] American Idol finale.
It took me all this time to figure out who Haley reminded me of. I kept thinking she looked like someone else, someone older, but it wasn’t until her singout that I realized it: River Song. Seriously.
Lauren could win, but I don’t see it going as well for her afterwards as it would for Scotty. There’s never been a male country winner before. It seems like there always is one in the finals, and some of them come close, but they never get to the final 2. So Scotty would be a novelty, which this show kinda needs. Whereas I think Lauren would be thought of as Little Carrie, and I don’t think she can live up to that.
[ramble]I think this was back in season 5, when Daughtry went out fourth despite heavy predictions that it would be him and Taylor in the final 2. A lot of people were aggravated about this, and someone else chimed in to say that the order of elimination didn’t matter because “They’re always going to have the right final 2!” I don’t think that’s true at all (although I admit MMV about what’s the “right” final 2). I don’t think the winner can be predicted even when it’s down to two, like David vs. David or Lee/Crystal. I think just being in the finals is all anyone can hope for, and whatever happens after the show is mostly up to them.[ramble]
Just a reminder, American Idol is on Tuesday - Wednesday next week. Not Wed-Thursday.
Yeah, those guys were great! They performed on Jay Leno the other night, too.
