But why start voting for him now? If you didn’t like him before why let one night change your opinion? That’s as bad as when the consistently good performers have one off night and then get voted off because of it.
I got through for Bo once and I didn’t get through for Vonzell at all.

Stupid double posts. My browser seemed to be stuck after I posted my reply, so I hit refresh and it ended up posting it again. Sorry.
I’m a little worried after hearing a promo for the show this morning. They had a clip of Ryan saying (again) that we would be shocked at the results.
That generally only happens when a top contender gets booted.
That’s just the way it goes. I feel he earned my votes this one time. I only voted for Constantine once, when he did BoRap, because that impressed me beyond his other performances. And if a consistently good performer stumbles and then gets voted off as a result, that’s also the way it goes. The votes aren’t cumulative; it’s a matter of who can stay in the game until the end.
On preview: Jaade, you’re making me nervous! OTOH, though, Ryan way overuses the word “shock”.
Pleasepleaseplease let Carrie go home! She gives me the creeps.
It is my opinion that Simon deliberately trashed Vonzell in order to motivate people to cast a vote for her. Reverse psychology, you know.
*Vonzell is darling. I’m rooting for her though I think she’s a bit generic.
*Scott’s “On Broadway” was the best I’ve seen him do. However, as a stage presence, he sucks. Unless you’re an acid rocker, beligerence has no place on stage.
*Anthony - He’s made for Broadway musicals or a boy band. He just doesn’t cut it as a solo artist, IMO. He’s white bread - nice but not too filling and a bit boring.
*Bo - His performance tonight was unmemorable. I’d love to see more personality out of him. The thing he’s got going for him is that he can write his own music. I don’t think any of the others (save the departed Constantine) writes his own stuff. (Correct me if I’m wrong.) If he has a vocal range, his choice of songs has not capitalized on it.
*Carrie - I enjoyed her second song. She looks like Reese Witherspoon. I can see her in the finals.
My rankings (top to bottom)
- Carrie
- Vonzell
- Bo
- Scott
- Anthony
If Carrie or Bo goes home before Anthony or Scott it will be a travesty. Vonzell is in the middle here. I have loved Carrie and Bo since the beginning. Vonzell has steadily grown as a performer and a singer. I think she’s truly benefitted from being on the show as a vocalist.
I will be very unhappy if Carrie goes home tonight. Ditto Bo, and likely Vonzell. There should be no question, take A-Fed or take Scott. I’m sick of the more mediocre singers continuing in this competition while more compentent, likable contestants are sent home.
Oh, c’mon…that little Elvis lip-curl thing was just adorable.
I think the look Scott is going for is straight-up-gangsta-home-boy. And it was, by far, his best week. Doesn’t make me like him any more, though.
And I can understand Scott not realizing that George Benson’s version of “On Broadway” was a cover (cuz he’s an idiot)…but the judges didn’t seem to realize it, either. And Randy had never heard Elvis’ ‘Treat Me Nice’? Dang.
And that’s not even the dreaded Results Show. TiVo was made for American Idol.
Bill Maher joked about her last night – something about someone being as “frustrated as Paula Abdul with a fistful of Vicodin and nothing to wash it down with.”
I didn’t watch AI this week, but I’m glad to hear that maybe she’s doing better.
She seemed a little toned down. My theory is that they superglued her to the chair.
The only one leaving that would shock me would be Bo.
I should introduce you to some of my ex-girlfriends.
Heh…there’d be a brawl at the song selection meeting, as everyone but Bo tries to be the one who gets to sing Beth.
I won’t be happy that Scott stays, but tonight we’ll be saying “bye-bye” to either Anthony or Vonzell. Probably the former, but in the long run it doesn’t really matter – the only acceptable final two is Bo and Carrie.
If the results are indeed “shocking”, then it has to be either Carrie or Bo who leaves. None of the others would be a shock. I’m not a Carrie fan, but it would be a travesty for her to be eliminated at this point. She and Bo are a level above the others. I love Vonzell, but she doesn’t really have an identity, and she had a mediocre night (her first song would’ve come across much better if her voice hadn’t been overwhelmed by the band).
“On Broadway” was a good choice for Scott; it’s the type of song he does very well. All the hatred for Scott takes me aback. What exactly did he do to deserve to be hated? His performances have not been good enough to keep him in this long, but that’s no reason for hatred – he’s not the one calling in the votes. I have to think it comes down to his looks and his lack of social polish, and I suspect there are a LOT of people who identify with being disliked for those reasons; those are probably the people voting for him.
I very much enjoyed Bo’s “Heaven”. It was something different for him and showed some versatility. The fringed jacket was hot.
Anthony had a very bad night.
My rankings:
- Bo
- Carrie
- Vonzell
- Anthony
- Scott
I won’t hazard a guess as to who will go tonight.
Carrie!?
You know, I consider myself a high-minded individual. I get no pleasure from dreck like Jerry Springer, Cops, Hard Copy, and the like. I enjoy the finer pursuits.
But hell yes I’ll be watching the ABC show. Sounds like fun on a bun!
Would anybody be shocked to find out that the incoming calls were impeded by technical problems and the vote had to be re-done?
I tried for the better part of two hours to cast a vote for Bo and Carrie (from Orange County, CA). Got an “all circuits are busy” recording every time.
That would surprise me because I believe that’s happened before, multiple times, and they’ve never redone it on that account.
I agree with just about all of this. The only change I’d make is Bo for Carrie in the winning spot, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. I also notice that, as the list gets winnowed down, the show gets more tedious and I care less and less who wins.
Oh, and if Carrie wants to win, she should sing “Let Him Fly.” If she put some heart into it, she’d kill.
