Possibly a hijack, but has anybody who auditioned in a gimmicky outfit or costume ever made it to Hollywood?
Alex is definitely her own person. I never would have guessed she was 16 in a million years. She looks much older, much more self-assured than the average 16 year old.
Looks like they’ve got an interestng lesbian coming up after the break.
Allegedly someone who auditions this year while wearing a lobster suit makes it to Hollywood. I’m not sure if they’re ever going to show it, but spoiler sites mentioned that someone made it to Hollywood dressed up as a lobster and singing a song from The Little Mermaid.
The only gimmicky auditioner I can remember making it through off the top of my had is Scooter Girl. She had a prop, not a costume, though.
And there’s been a few people who have made it through wearing military uniforms if that counts as a gimmick, which I think it should.
Dude, you are like, totally not funny. Ugh, go away.
I now have a favorite girl. Rock and Roll nurse kicks ass.
Leather can sing, but I get the feeling Simon is worried about her being too butch…also about her not being bland and insipid like his Underwood army. Simon hates AI contestants to have any kind of edge.
Oh, yeah, she’ll fail miserably, but I adore her anyway. AI hates lesbians and rocker chicks–two of them in one person is the kiss of death even if she’s a ball of talent like this girl.
I agree, and the sad thing is that kid’s probably high fiving his buddies right now and thinking he really put the smackdown on Simon.
He lives in a van. . . DOWN BY THE RIVER!
Dude, if you live in your car, you’re homeless. Face reality.
I don’t like British Accent Band Boy’s voice.
I dunno how I feel about the last guy’s voice. And seriously what is with the accent?
ETA: I am amused that they’re playing a Kooks’ song though. Young British boys with bad teeth band.
Where are the auditions taking place tomorrow?
Tomorrow is a Best of the Rest show.
I didn’t like homeless guy’s voice at all, but I thought his personality was interesting. And he’s the only person I’ve ever seen to sing a song he wrote and make it through. The lyrics were pretty good for an 18-year-old high school dropout, too.
Wanna squish homeless guy. Love him, don’t love the vibrato, but I totally fell for the sob story. He appeals to my Elliot Yamin brain.
Joshua was pretty interesting. I don’t think the Brit affect was that big of a deal. British singers affect American accents all the time when they sing and I’ve heard American punk bands kind of adopt a faux Johnny Rotten accent when they sing too. It’s no big deal as long as it’s not ridiculously exaggerated. I think it just shows the influences. It’s something most singer grow out of as they mature, though.
Anyway, I thought that kid had something.
Oh man, the chick that was grieving for her Dad…Damn…
She just found out she had lost her Dad before this audition.
I agree about people milking a sob story but this was IMHO way different.
I’ll admit that I’ve had a couple drinks but she touched my heart. I had tears in my eyes.
Dang
That emo kid that thought he was funny was horrible.
I liked the leather biking nurse.
BTW
I am on the west coast and DVR everything so I just watched this episode.
Cheers
Josiah.
I agree about his vibrato. I told Dan “he sounds like he’s trying to make machine-gun noises while he sings!”
BTW, didn’t see Dan’s brother & his wife in any of the crowd scenes, but it was hard to tell. I’m leaving it on my TiVo for a few days, though, because they know where they sat and who they were near and are much more likely to find themselves in the crowd. I’m sure if they were there, they will send out email telling us where to look
