American Idol Feb 27-Mar 1

I like that Chris Sligh wisely got more humble and went for the “Aren’t I the luckiest guy in the world” image instead of the too cool for school thing. Nice voice, but I don’t like to watch him sing; his mouth is oddly small for his face and it’s distracting.

Sanjaya has so much talent hiding in there, I love his voice but wanted to light a fire under him. I hope he stays in.

AJ and Phil I just didn’t care about, total meh. Jared wasn’t quite up to Mr.Gaye but it’s just such an awesome song he gets a pass.

Nick’s voice was disturbingly high.

He over-achieved in the wife department, thats for sure.

Nick Pedro:

Shouldn’t “Fever” have some heat to it? Yawn. My refrigerator is hotter than that performance>

Damn i hate stickeykeys on someone else"s computer>>>

Chris S. was the only notable one so far. It was a great performance and yeah, his wife is very pretty.
Sanjaya, little Sanjaya, I want him to do well. He is so likeable and he does have a good voice, but I think he may be too inexperienced and nervous for this show right now.

Blake

Busting out the beat box, all right.

I don’t know this song. Performance is a little boy band, but Blake still makes it look cool.

If Blake could have given Sanjaya 50% of his onstage charisma/passion/oomph, they’d have both been better off. Love Blake, but he was a little over the top.

My daughter called to tell me she liked Blake Lewis. My son thinks he’s good. He appeals to the younguns. I liked last weeks performance much better but this wasn’t bad.

Virtual Insanity is one cool video and has always been one of my favorites. I never realized how tough it was to sing until Blake made an attempt at it, however. He was alright but I suspect if he didn’t beatbox he’d have gotten a much different reaction from the judges.

I have no idea if Simon is right about Blake copying the original singer (who was it, Jameer-something?) but I think he’s missing the boat on the likeability of this kid as a performer. The scatting was cool.

Funny, I guess I’d underestimated the popularity of Jamiroquai. I was under the impression that he was fairly well known the world over…shows what I know.

Well, I’ve never seen the video but I do like the song. I absolutely agree with the rest. I wasn’t watching the screen, and his singing just didn’t seem paced right or quite on-key. But then again, I thought that about him last week when he got good reviews too. Maybe I just have a Blakeblock in my ears.

I do like Blake’s song choices.

I do not like Brian’s voice. I do not like his smiling and winking. But dang, he’s got some nice skin!

Holy Shit! Did Jamiroquai just enter American Idol?

Nice!

I love band! Funky, and very hip!

Rock on Blake!

He and Chris Sligh have a dual coming up…

What song is Chris Richardson singing? Geek in the Pink? Dedicated to his dad? That sounded awful, what the hell is Randy talking about?

On listening more closely:
Dedicated to grandma?

Lord, I disagree with Simon and that never happens.

My son on what Chris’s opinionate grandma is saying right now: I said sing a COUNTRY song, you son of a bitch!

Biggirl, please tell me your son is of legal age. Because I’m half in love with him based on the comments you always report in the AI threads…

He’ll be 20 his next birthday. And in real life, he’s quite obnoxious.

Alrighty, I’m gonna get awfully peeved at all these kids if they keep singing songs I don’t know. Harrumph.

I liked Richardson tonight, even though I thought there might be something weird going on with the sound quality. There were parts in the beginning where the music was drowing him out, I hate when they do that.

What the hell did Sundance just say? I’m gonna be whoppin your willy why?

OK, this performance is dialing down my Sundance hate. Although he needs to work out or something because he looks like he wants sit down after that.

Sundance

Wow. that was the guy we saw in the initial audition round. One of the top two or three of the night.
