Hey! American Idol (March 6, 7 and 8th)

What, no Idol thread? You guys’ll have to be my eyes tonight because I have to be somewhere else right when the whole thing starts.

What was I thinking! :smack:

You weren’t, obviously. Good thing you have us.

I was fiddling around and waiting for someone else to start it.

I also do not think I’ll make it. Not going any where, but have been having a pretty stressful (in a kinda good way) week and do not think I’ll be awake in 10 minutes.

You guys must talk much and label all singers!

This is the first American Idol I see this season. Is Blake the program’s white rapper? What’s up, what is the theme today?

I actually like this… first time I see this song being performed in American Idol…

Blake is original for AI, that’s for sure. I’m liking him more and more.

Blake.

I liked that. This guy always entertains me. There hasn’t been anyone like him on the show before.

Blake is really picking some fun fun songs. He’s not such a great singer, but he’s fun. Cracked me up the way he did the radio edit over the word “ass”.

(WTF?! Randy and Paula don’t know the song? Have they been living under a rock?)

I guess I’m exposing my age and cluelessness but I’ve never heard that song before either. What was it?

Sanjaya isn’t sucking and his hair looks better too.

All Mixed Up by 311

Here’s my problem with Blake’s song (something by 311 which I’ve heard before, but I thought it was Sublime at first, so what do I know?) – that was not so much a singer’s song. He did a good job, but I can’t tell whether he can actually sing or not. And since I’m not a huge fan of 311’s kind of music as a general rule (and do not even get me started on what they did to “Lovesong” by The Cure, but suffice it to say that I think it is criminal and should be punishable by death) – it didn’t do much for me.

And now Sanjaya is on, and I think I recognize this song, but I can’t tell, because I am distracted by how much he looks like a girl, except for those eyebrows. But: wow, even Paula isn’t impressed. That isn’t good.

I don’t like Sandy’s ironed look. He picked it up a little from last week but he’s just sooooo soft. I mean, hula?

Sanjaya, Sanjaya, Sanjaya…

I hate that song. And I never imagined that anyone could sing a song more wimpily than John Mayer.

Blake’s song? It was by a band called 311, and it was out in the early 00’s, late 90’s. It’s still played, although I think most of its audience is college students (or those that went to college those years).

I don’t like this song, and I only heard the ending.

And Paula is giving good advice, I’m surprised!

I felt quite smart that I knew Blake sang a 311 song (All Mixed Up) and that 2 of the judges (maybe 3) didn’t recognize it. That doesn’t happen very often as R&B isn’t exactly my strong suit so a lot of the time, I don’t recognize the songs.

I thought Blake did fine, he is memorable and the song suited him perfectly. Pretty much what the judges said.

While I’m here, Sanjaya wasn’t as bad as he has been, I’ll give him that. He might be the type of singer that does quite well in a Studio. He does have a nice little voice…key word being little, of course.

I must go to sleep. I’ve got to be up at 5 and I’m sooooooo tired. Why does this show have this power over me?

Sundance doing Pearl Jam…poorly.

Pearl Jam! You cannot sleep. What an unusual show tonight.

Harmless little funk, haha. And did he say King Jeremy the Wicked ruined his world?
