American Idol 4/17

Country night with Martina McBride. Please God, no “Concrete Angel”.

I think I am looking forward most to what Blake will do with a country ditty.

Yeah, if it weren’t for Blake, I might skip it this week.

Hey, didn’t I say that last week?

Blake and Melinda - mark my words - will (should) be in the final two.

At this point, I think the trick would be finding someone to disagree with that statement.

Although Jordin is a dark horse candidate for the final two.

I don wanna hea “Independence Day” no moa. :stuck_out_tongue:
But I wouldn’t mind hearing “This Kiss”.

I have an ugly feeling Jordin will be doing that one.

I’d like Blake to do a version of Cotton Eyed Joe.

Then maybe Sanjaya could do something by Slim Whitman.

Hi.

Song-list spoiler from mjsbigblog.com:
"Somebody named “Scrappy” at the Vote for the Worst message boards who claims to be part of the Martina McBride camp, claims to know the song choices for tonight’s performance show:

 1. Phil Stacey - “Ain’t Goin’ Down Till The Sun Goes Up” by Garth Brooks
 2. Jordin Sparks - “You’re Still The One” by Shania Twain
 3. Sanjaya Malakar - “Boot Scootin Boogie” by Brooks & Dunn
 4. Lakisha Jones - “Concrete Angel” by Martina McBride
 5. Chris Richardson - “Over And Over” by Nelly and Tim McGraw
 6. Melinda Doolittle - “Why Haven’t I Heard From You” by Reba McEntire
 7. Blake Lewis - “Come A Little Closer” by Dierks Bentley

ETA: There’s a report from someone close to Blake that he has a different song choice tonight. But, it’s also being reproted on Michael W. Smith’s site that Jordin is actually going second. Soooo….hmmm……

These are rumors, people rumors, so don’t kill me if they don’t come true. I’ll update with new information as it arrives. "
#4 and #6 in the spoiler put a chill in my heart.

As I always tell myself, “At least House is on afterwards so I can get my mind off of A.I. if I need to.”

This may be another tough week for me. I don’t recognize any of those songs. I only know like 5 country songs, and one of them doesn’t really count anyway, because it’s a “country” cover of a KISS song (by Garth Brooks).

Hmm, if the rumors are right about Melinda’s choice, I’m sorta torn. On the one hand, she can tear that song up but otoh, she’ll still sound show tuney doing it and that’s my only issue with her. Hmm.

And, fwiw, Jordin’s my favorite to win, although I enjoy Melinda and Blake as well.

I think I know two of those, and I get exposed to country and western every time I visit the folks. Let’s hope at least the outfits are amusing…Yes, I’m still hoping for Sanjaya in a nudie suit. And high-heeled boots. Carrying a big-ass guitar.

Lord, I don’t know if I can survive this. I hate pop country SO much. This guest is freaking awful, whoever she is.

Phil looks creepy… did he shave his head even more? So far the first song spoiler given is wrong, no?

But he doesn’t seem to be mangling the lyrics (I wouldn’t know if he did, seeing as I dislike country)…

And we’re going to start right of with Stacey hamming it up. Cheesy, smarmy douchebag, just like always. He’s really insufferable tonight with the pointing and the winking and the going into the crowd.

Did he say “that’s right y’all?”

Lies from the judges. This guy sucks out loud.

Actually, I thought that song and style suited Phil really well. I’m with Simon, it took ten freaking weeks for this guy to think of doing something in a country style? He actually sounded…not creepy. (I hated the tacked-on “y’all”, though.)

It’s his personality and manner that grate on me more than the actual singing. He was on key, at least.

What you said. I didn’t hate Phil tonight (especially if I didn’t look at the screen – ugh at the chest butts).
