Which, unfortunately, is more than we can say for Jordin.
I’m not at home so please spoiler me this:
Did Phil sing Ain’t Goin’ Down Til the Sun Goes Up? (I’m just curious if the list above was correct; I was so in hopes Sanjaya would come out in a blonde beehive and sing Stand By Your Man.)
Jordin sang pretty well, but these songs are so bad it’s hard to judge performances. Country night is a turd polishing contest and I guess she did about as well as could be expected.
I actually don’t know what Phil sang (I don’t know from country), but I know that Jordin’s song didn’t match the spoiler.
The order of performances has matched, though.
Nope, he sang “Where the Asphalt Ends”.
As for Jordin…Now it’s my turn to say “wha?” to the judges. That was an incredibly depressing song, sung in an excruciating way.
And what is up with the sari? For country music? And a really bizarre one at that?
He sang something called “Where the blacktop ends” (or something. I’d never heard of it. Some Keith Urban song.)
Jordin sang “Broken Wings”
I couldn’t post right away because I was seeing spots from the glare off Phil’s head. He should have worn the oversized cowboy hat. I agree the song choice and genre is good for him and now he can go out on a high note. At least he found his niche first and knows to go for a country audience.
Jordin looked and sounded beautiful and I have to admit she’s become my favorite.
So far I am 0 for 2 on my predictions though. No cowboy hat for Phil or boots for Jordin.
I’m not 100% sure, but I think I so completely bored. These are not among the handful of country songs that I know.
Don’t know Phil’s song, so I don’t know if he did well, or what. Is Keith Urban the guy who’s married to Nicole Kidman? Anyway, I thought Phil was boring.
Also Jordin. I guess she did OK, but again, I don’t know the song. And was her dress made of Saran Wrap? I don’t understand what was going on there.
Oh, God. I just saw Sanjaya and I already have a headache. What is going on with his head? Does his mother know he left the house looking like that?
Jordin carried the tune, she has a good voice. And I like her dress, too…
Good lord, what’s going on with Sanjaya’s head?
Sanjaya’s doing “Something to Talk About.” He’s rocking some kind of Aunt Jemima head scarf look.
Wasn’t this song originally sung by a woman? Sanjaya has somehow found a way to emasculate it.
I dunno, I think he looks kind of cool.
The kid isn’t short on personality, is he. Heh. I’m starting to get a real kick out of him. Unfortunately he can’t sing.
Oh. My. Sanjaya.
That was the worst performance I’ve ever heard on American Idol.
ETA: As for the hair – my hair would look exactly like that if I wore a scarf…which is why I dont.
Heh. Finally someone is doing a song I recognize, and Sanjaya is running all over it like week-old roadkill. Christ on a motorbike. Was he lip-synching last week?
Sanjaya is still scary… his song choice is… interesting…
And Paula is funny, but I find her silence and not much talking telling…
And Randy is right, it was karaoke.
I have got to use phrase that in conversation tomorrow!
I think Sanjaya’s performance was flat in every sense of the word. Did he change his song at the last minute or what? He sounded like he barely knew it.
Wow … and that isn’t even a line I stole from Dave Barry, or anything!
“Jesus Take The Wheel”? Bleeeeeeeeeeeeearf. And she doesn’t even sound very good. It’s like she’s singing two different songs or something. Love her boots, though. I’d never wear them, but they’re pretty fly. (Are kids still saying that?)
Blech. That was not the song for LaKisha. Did not like.
Lakisha’s doing that godawful Jesus driving song. Could she have possibly picked a worse song?
And I’m getting tired of hearing that she’s a single mom. Who cares?
Typical Lakisha belting. She sounds fine, ballsier than Underwood, but what a horrible song choice.
Lakisha sounds so screechy.
