I never got the love for BNL or Presidents of the United States. What’s more annoying, the singing-really-fast gimmick or ripping off half of a John Prine song and singing it in an inane way? I dunno. But I have deep hatred for both of them.

Well, it was a solid night. Two understated performers with good taste in music. No drama maybe, but it approached music.
I think both Lee and Crystal did very well tonight. I think they were the best two of a pretty lackluster season.
I am more likely to buy something from Crystal, as I generally prefer female voices to guy’s voices.
Yeah, Crystal looked like she was going to lose it during the entire latter half of that song and the entire critique, and I am actually somewhat impressed she managed to avoid tears.
She really did just bend Lee over her knee and gave him a spanking tonight, though.
I can see them doing Weezer. But my guess is that they’ll have a legitimate contestant do “Pants on the Ground” before they do anything by Wilco.
Now there’s an interesting visual. 
I think Lee will win. I’ve wondered if Crystal is too “alternative” for the people who vote. Add in the girl vote and Lee’s got it.
Maybe American Idol, but not Swedish Idol in any case.

I totally agree. I was hanging blinds with the show on in the background, and there was not a single song that made me cringe or want to leave the room. I actually enjoyed the whole show very much as music I could imagine listening to while I worked.
I actually think this might have been the best group of finale performances ever. Lee was sometimes all over the place, but for the most part, they brought it tonight, and at least we got good performances out of finalists (due in no small part to the lack of “No Boundaries”-type trainwrecks of songs).
That being said, there’s no doubt Bowersox should win this thing, but it’s looking like we’re going to have three white masculine males in a row as our Idols (and come to think of it-Crystal is the first girl in the finals since Jordin Sparks!). Which is too bad, because Lee is competent but…I still don’t think the vocals are all there. He’s got a shot at being commercially successful though, which is something I suppose.

Eh. I was going to say “straight” but I think the point I was trying to make is that Cook won over the somewhat feminine Archuleta and Kris won over the sorta-androgynous Adam. And Lee may well win over Crystal. Grizzled guitar-playing men are in vogue for Idol- something that Lee slipped right into and it gave him a bit of a free ride imo.
P.S. I’m not going to argue that Adam isn’t masculine, but he did wear finger nail polish for gosh sakes.
