Just watched them on Entertainment Tonight. They asked them questions, such as “Who is the biggest flirt? “Constantine!” (a surprise, there), and the practical joker turned out to be Bo, who has placed saran wrap on Anthony’s toilet, and sent Anthony flowers from"Carrie”.
The host asked ifthere was something going on between them. Carrie didn’t say anything, then the host said Anthony is turned red. They said,no he’s really tan lately, which was true,he was totally orange.
I saw Carrie on Jay Leno last night and she seemed a lot more comfortable on stage, then again she didn’t sing so maybe the “deer in the headlights” look is just her singing face.
I am disappointed that Bo didn’t win but I think Clay showed that it’s possible to have a better career than the actual winner and I’m really hoping for that for Bo. I saw Ben Stiller gushing over Bo so maybe he can hook him up with a song deal for a movie.
By the way, did they ever give the percentages that each singer got? It had to be Rueben/Clay close.
You may have heard of Justin Guarini and Diana DeGarmo, too. The odds are not good.
Yeah, and that’s the thing about the music industry…you just can’t tell.
In general, however, you have to have something going for you. Trias definitely has it (incredible local support, irrepressible cheerfulness, that down-home girlish charm, etc.); I didn’t see it in DeGarmo or Barrino.
That said, I’m confident that Bice has a good future ahead of him. It’s a case, as I’ve pointed out, of someone actually better off finishing second than first. He’s white-hot right now, and his first album, whenever it comes out, is almost certain selling big. All he has to do is ride the wave and let his considerable creative juices flow, and the money will pour right in.
I mean, sheesh…he lost out on a lousy checking account. Small potatoes, people.
Why would it be better finishing second instead of first? IIRC, A.I.'s music company has most of the final 6, at least, signed to contract. Clay somehow got out of his, but I think A.I.'s lawyers fixed that in their future contracts. I don’t think they’ll pass on Bice.
I missed the finale (and the last three weeks or so) and am somewhat glad to be rid of the damned thing. I continue to be amused at the outrage over the outcome.
One thing that would help Bo a lot is to get his cd out quicker. I don’t know if the powers that be at AI would delay releasing his in favor of Carrie’s but if he can release it sooner and even get out of his contract with them he’d be in a lot better shape. IIRC Rueben took much longer in releasing his cd than Clay and I think being out first helped him immensely. All of Rueben’s fans probably forgot about him by then. I think Bo is more polished and professional enough to be able to get a cd together quicker. Also like I said, he did seem to have a lot more celebrity fans on the red carpet if one of them really takes an interest and he isn’t neutered by his Idol contract he could do much better than Carrie.
Let’s face it, Carrie’s cd is going to be mostly country type songs - that’s her strength, she doesn’t do as well with pop, so that is going to limit her appeal. I bet a lot of those people who supported and voted for her have no intention of actually buying a cd.
Wouldn’t it be funny if the winner was decided by presales of their cd?
Well, they have to go on the AI tour before either of them gets studio time for a CD, right? Although they’ll rush Carrie’s single out with that horrific song, neither of them or any of the other finalists will have much time to work until the tour’s over.
All 12 had to sign AI contracts to continue competing, and Simon consistently said in interviews that the contracts were from 4-7 years so I doubt Bo’s getting away from them anytime soon. AFAIK, they’re all pretty equally stuck with 19 Entertainment, the difference between first and second place is that 19 will spend oodles promoting Carrie and not spend oodles promoting the other finalists.
Wile E I don’t have a cite, but I heard a radio interview Thursday morning that gave the tallies at 38 million votes, 4% difference. Dunno if it’s accurate, but there ya go.
IIRC, one of the stipulations of any AI contestant’s contract is that they must agree that any CD they produce cannot be released until the winner of their season’s is. So, contractually, Bo’s record CANNOT come out before Carrie’s. One of the perks of being the winner, I guess, is that your product gets out there first. I think they got around this with Ruben-Clay by having one of them release an EP instead of a full-length CD. (Much of the speculation about the “Mario thing” is that, by quitting his AI contract, he was not bound by the same restrictions. But, of course, having never signed an AI contract myself, and being “getting up there in years” and therefore somewhat forgetful, I could be very, very wrong.)
Carrie’s single is going to be released on June 14. Bo’s on June 21. Bo’s single is actually #1 on Barnes and Noble sales right now. Go Bo!
Oh my. John Stevens has a cd coming out at the end of June and I just heard his version of Maroon 5’s “This Love.” I like it. I might be insane.
Really? whats the single called?
I mean Bo’s single, of course.
“Inside your Heaven.” “Vehicle” is the B-side.
They both have the same single?
Usually they do. Tacky, isn’t it?
I’ll buy Bo’s.
