American Idol - Final Two (SPOILERS)

Oh. My. God. I’d have paid good money to see that. I’m laughing like a lunatic just reading about it. My cubemate thinks I’m crazy.

 At first, I thought he was joking, but I doubt it. She then sat down to continue talking to him. I wish I’d had my tape ready.

That’s him.

Thank you.

Winne, they played the clip on my local Fox news station this morning. Hilarious. The reporter tried to play it off play squatting down to him and singing “I Belive I Can Fly”. Priceless.

If Ruben and Fantasia performed, it was off camera, because I sure didn’t see them either and I watched both loooooong hours. I did see the gal from Hawaii with the flower in her hair (Jasmine?) and a few others from last year.

Meh. I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that they’re an item. It shows that they have some affection for each other, but that doesn’t necessarily mean romantic involvement.

Some would say I’m being naive. Personally though, as someone who’s had a several intimate platonic friendships with women, I’d rather not jump to premature conclusions.

I finally got it on tape. Its a keeper. :stuck_out_tongue:

Did Bo/AI take the ‘Neil Young’ reference out of Sweet Home Alabama last night? I didn’t think I heard it.

I know Mikalah was one of those two women singing there, but I couldn’t recognize her–and I had a 50-50 shot.

I saw Skynryd (because I work where they played) about 3 years ago, and they have seen better days. It was half full, and then the people started streaming out halfway thru. Having Bo as lead singer might jump their careers, then again maybe not. Bo will do just fine without them.

as will Carrie!

Bit of a disappointing outcome, IMHO, althoughI still believe the right final two were on hand on Tuesday.

My fantasy had Seacrest saying: “And now Bo Bice, our American Idol for 2005 will perform the song he will be releasing as a single on June 14, Inside Your Heaven.” And Bo responding with: “The hell I will. I hate that freakin’ song. Let Carrie release it.”

I didn’t hear it either…they only got as far as “In Birmingham they love the governor” part, as far as I could hear.

I was a bit miffed that they wrote a song that would fit a Carrie-type singer and not a Bo-type singer. He did the best he could with it, but it wasn’t him. Automatically an unfair advantage to Carrie.

Liked them both, but I would have liked to see Bo win, just so we could have one less Carrie-type singer in the recording world. She’s good, and as cute as a button, but its been done to death. But Bo doesn’t look like the “American Idol” type to me either. He probably wouldn’t be happy doing that gig. Just my opinion.

I’m not sure what kids you’re refering to, but those guys wanted to meet David Hasselhoff!

Yeah, one of them sang a David Hasselhoff song when he auditioned for the show.

And from the snippet yesterday, at the audition Simon asked him, “so you are a big Baywatch fan?”
The guy answered, “Yeah, I really like David Hasselhoff.”
Simon seemed, uh, sort of taken aback and changed the conversation.

I believe people were speculating about pregnancy based on Tuesday night’s show. There was a blonde girl, same age, sitting with the contestants in the front row who was obviously pregnant. They panned over the faces quite quickly, and since we didn’t see Jessica elsewhere, it looked like it might be here. By Wednesday’s show, however, it was obvious she was not that person.

Final thoughts:

In the long run, I think Bo Bice is going to be happy that he went the distance and then lost. He just never struck me as a harmless, mainstream, plain-vanilla type idol singer, and as time went on I really saw the show cramping his style. Now he gets to pick and choose his label, his bandmates, when the album comes out, everything. Personally, I hope he does either real rock, a la Aerosmith, Guns 'n Roses, and Bon Jovi., or Bad Religion-style militant punk. Now THAT I’d pay thirteen bucks for.

Carrie Underwood looked great, stayed positive, and did exactly what it took to win. For that, I congratulate her. I definitely believe she’ll be a success, although probably not on the level of Kelly Clarkson (the only winner thus far who actually achieved some level of stardom). Not really passionate about country, so I hope she eventually branches out a bit. Maybe I’ll get a single or two.

Oh, as for Vonzell Solomon and Anthony Federov…I think they have a future in the business, but they need to start small. Vonzell would make a fine backup singer, as someone previously suggested, and Anthony probaboy is perfect for the lounge circuit or mall appearances, as has been said about way too many contestants.

Speaking of which, did anyone else find it strange how much Seacrest trumped up the incredible prize of…a checking account? This pretty much sums up the one huge problem with the show, the perception that it doesn’t really matter who wins (and I certainly felt that it didn’t this time). The producers have to, HAVE TO fix this, or we could be talking shark jump. Never freakin’ mind Paula Abdul and that ridiculous non-scandal; you have real problems to deal with.

One last thing…how 'bout that Jasmine Trias? Man, is she living the life or what? Huge star at home, big album coming out, cruises, an upcoming movie appearance, seeing the world. And this is last season’s third place finisher we’re talking about. (See previous note.) You go, girl.

It’s certainly going to look like an interesting few months. Can’t wait to see how that tour turns out.

Finally saw the results. I was amazed at how nervous Carrie was on Tuesday night. She looked shell-shocked. Wednesday she looked even worse. Right before the vote was announced, I finally some Bo’s nerves start to get to him. He plays it close to the chest. I felt for both of them, especially when Ryan Seacrest rudely wedged himself in between them and they couldn’t hold each other’s hand anymore.

Thought Bo was an incredibly gracious winner and Carrie was a humbled winner. Nice to see. I did think that Carrie’s voice had more range to it but I like that Bo was the oldest finalist and that he didn’t try to force himself into the Idol Pop mold.

I’m finally getting around to this thread. Been a busy day.

I can’t believe people are actually that pissed that Carrie won. You know, there was this other runner up a couple years ago. You may have heard of him—Clay Aiken?

I’m just sayin’, don’t give up on Bo yet, my darlings. We haven’t heard the last of him!

My thoughts from last night:

What the … Kenny G?!?!? You’ve gotta be frickin’ kidding me.

It was nice of them to resurrect the dead members of Lynyrd Skynyrd to sing with Bo, too. Well, at least most of them looked like they had one foot in the grave.

Carrie and most every AI singer since day one has a very undeveloped lower range and overcompensates by screaming at the upper end. Great power. Pitchy as hell Tuesday night, but looked like a billion bucks Wednesday. The wooden delivery had gone electric. But she needs to develop her lower range–if she has it in her–or focus on the middle.

Bo’s range is so-so, but he’s got that signature timbre and growl.
