American Idol - Final Two (SPOILERS)

I’m glad Carrie-Okie won, although I would have been happy either way. Other thoughts:

  • Ok, former contestants we haven’t seen in forever, they’re not laughing with you. Go away.

  • Medley? Carrie-Okie? Awesome. Bo? Awesome, but stop singing that song. Everyone else? Is there an auditory equivalent of “ZE GOGGLES! THEY DO NOTHINGGG!!!”

  • Wow! They got David Hasselhoff?!? They could have at least introduced the kids to Pam “Watch my new show” Anderson (assuming it hasn’t been cancelled already).

  • The skit must have been directed by SNL people. It was 10 minutes of funny in a 20 minute package. The funny parts were pretty funny though.

  • Worst note of the night? Lindsey “Girls Gone Wild” Cardinale during the opening number. Yikes!

  • I normally can only mildly tolerate Mikalah, but her red carpet foolery was actually pretty funny. And a hell of a lot better than Joan Rivers et al. She needs to look into a career in that area (and never sing again).

  • Still hate Matt “Rose Bowl” Rogers. Please shut up dude. And don’t get fonky with anyone on my screen, much less the First Lady of Okielahoma. And the location shots in general? Dump 'em. Those segments were universally disasterous.

  • Latoya London wins the award as the first idol whose name I can remember, but whose face and singing I can’t.

  • Saw George “I’m not 30 - I promise” Huff about 100 times. And John “Teen Martin” Stevens a couple times too. Any other former spares in the audience?

I’ll probably come up with more, but it’s late and I’m tired. Two hours of high-grade treacle takes it out of me.

I just have to say that of all the songs with the Idols, I think I liked Vonzell’s the best. I actually teared up a little during her song.

FUCK!

My sentiments exactly, only I was going to use fewer words.

Bah! Stupid poopy sheeple win again. I’m moving to Mars.

Alright, now I feel super cheesy because I was tearing up throughout that whole finale. When they brought that one auditioner to sing the national anthem? That was great. An obvious ploy to tug at the heartstrings but man, it worked on me. And having all the idols sing with their idols (even though I think it was more like “sing with whoever we can actually get to come on this show” with the exception of Bo and Carrie’s) tugged on the 'ol heartstrings as well.

And the “expose” was just hysterical. What a clever way to handle that whole mess.

Seriously, this finale made up for all the lame ass filler and endless commercials they bombarded us with all season.

And I’m actually glad Carrie won. I was rooting for Bo of course, but Carrie I think deserves the “crown” more. It just fits her better, if you get what I’m saying.

We certainly haven’t seen the last of Bo.

YAY!

I know it’s not a popular opinion around here, but my husband and I think Carrie’s voice is exquisite. She gives me chills every time she sings, and I don’t even like country music. That duet with Rascal Flats was breathtakingly beautiful. I think she totally deserved to win. I like Bo, too, and I’ll even buy his CD. He’s got a great tone to his voice reminiscent of Blood Sweat & Tears, who are one of my all-time favorites. But Carrie is just a slightly better pure vocalist. She may have had less “stage presence” during the competition than Bo, but tonight she was relaxed and emotive and she shone.

Congratulations, Carrie!

Love Bo, Hate Carrie…really glad at the outcome. There would have been something so wrong about a hunka hunka burnin’ love like Bo being all packaged up in eh Idol thing. Yech.

And I have to say…Bo was cute from the start, but he has reached serious, major, tingly-in-my-bathing-suit-area hotitude in the last month…YUM.

Does anyone know the vote totals or percentage between them?

I’m sorry. I didn’t think (about Lost). I reported it but, it’s a day late and a dollar short, I’m sure.

Really. I’m sorry.

It will probably never be announced. In previous years, they’ve run into problems with the totals not jiving with the percentages; best to sidestep the matter entirely.

—I forget what they did last year, but I liked that Ryan had to open a sealed envelope to announce the winner. (Season 2, Ryan was allegedly holding the card with Ruben’s name on it in such a way that Clay saw it before it was read out.)

—Did they drop confetti? I didn’t/couldn’t watch Carrie’s singout.

—I didn’t realize, or I’d forgotten, that Nadia has no boobs.

—I’ve changed my mind again. I wish it had been Vonzell and Bo in the finale. Because if it’s so “okay” to come in second, then she could have come in second; she never would have beaten Bo. And I like her a lot, so I would have enjoyed the final 2 performance a lot more.

—Whose idea was it to have Scott sing falsetto? For that matter, whose idea was it to do a Beach Boys medley?

—And these people just do not harmonize with each other well at all.

—Nikko looked and sounded awesome. He just didn’t fit into this year’s lineup, I guess.

—Anybody catch that Mastercard ad with Kate Winslet?

—Well, looks like Anthony and Carrie are definitely an item.

—And Jessica’s not pregnant; just out of shape.

—That was so cool, that whatsername got to sing the SSB, and Dirk got to meet David Hasselhoff! He (Dirk) was so overjoyed! However, Adam seems to be a nasty little famewhore. Notice how he sat down, then stood up again when he realized Dirk was still standing? Not gonna lose a second of camera time.

—JPL looks awful with short hair. What little physical charm he had went with it.

—That little kid was priceless. “Whah do you use revarse sigh-cology on Bo?” That’s gonna be my new catch phrase. Complete with accent, of course.

So…er…

See you all here again next season?

Anthony and Carrie are an item? I missed those last few seconds, what happened?

He was first on his feet for every one of her performances on Tuesday and last night, then, when she was named winner, grabbed her in a bear hug like he was the kissing sailor on V-E Day.

Bo sang one song last night that has been driving me crazy. I can’t think of who sang the original even though I was singing along.

It was the song with the Earth, Wind and Fire-like horn section. Please…won’t someone tell me who sang it originally?

Has anyone been watching the numerous interviews with all of them? Please tell me someone else saw (dunno which channel) a woman asking Constantine if he could kick as high as the camera, and he did, and fell down? priceless.

I saw Carrie and Bo an the Today Show this morning. Carrie, was of course, still in shocked and very happy. They had a tiny clip of Bo who said something like, “Hey, I got a CAR!” It was priceless.

Last night I noticed Bo trying to call the folks in Lynyrd Skynrd forward to be recognized by the audience after their joint performance. I though that was very dear and appropriate. He’s a good guy.

I finally decided last night that AI has been sand bagging us about Carrie. I suspect Carrie has had incredible numbers throughout the contest and they hyped Bo the last several weeks (not that he didn’t deserve the attention!). Then in the finale performance show Simon says “Carrie can win.” In the final show there is all this buzz that “Carrie could win”…I’d guess no one at AI is surprised. I’m sure they think this is all in the way of making for more excitement and more viewers.

I wish them both well and hope Bo comes out with an album soon, because I will be buying it.

So…you think you can DANCE???

Oh, yeah? I’ll have to rewatch it.

“Vehicle” by the Ides of March.

BTW - AI could have scored 1,000,000 bonus points with me had the Simon exposé been titled “Scandlemakers” and poorly narrated.

Is this the Babyface we saw last night? If so, he’s 47??? I hope I look that good when I’m 30. >_<

From Yahoo today:

FANT ASIA and Ruben were there? If they were, they sure weren’t featured prominently.
