“Shine” would have been a better choice, especially when the song speeds up about 2/3 of the way through. His performance was good, but not enough to win over anyone with a short attention span. His first song was the best performance of the night.

This is why I don’t understand what they’re doing. Cook will clearly sell more. He’s more intelligent than Daughtry and is a word freak, so I’d imagine if he’s given lyrical control, his music will be better than Daughtry’s Nickelback cloning. Are they doing this to him because they think they can control Archuleta more? And if so, how are they going to deal with his stage dad?
Archuletta is choosing songs to appeal to the masses…he’s a big ham, just trying to win. Cook is a true rocker, playing from the heart and following his heart. He’s the real winner in my book.
The little 17 year old kid might win tomorrow nite, but Cook is going to be a real success… That’s right.

I’m not even sure what Simon thought he was on about with the “For the record, David Cook is not a monster” stuff. Cookie handled it well, even as he was struggling not to break down and all.
I could only wish to have whatever Paula’s got in the cup, but I’m going to agree in general with the judges. Archie did better at playing to his strengths tonight than Cookie, I prefer Cook’s voice/styling over Archuleta any day, but the kid did well.
Like Cook said, it really doesn’t matter, they’re each getting a car, going on the tour, and making a record. Archuleta will get the million dollar promotional deal, but Cook oughta get more radio play in the end.

Nothing more to say, really. I hated what he did to this classic, beautiful song the first time, and I hated it this time. The judges can suck it. David Cook will be kicking Archuleta’s butt on the charts a year from now.
The problem with being 17 is that you identify with Imagine and think it’s the most profound song ever written.

I’d love to see the breakdown of the iTunes single sales. The only reason I haven’t bought Cook’s singles the last few weeks is because they inexplicably recorded my least favorite of his multiple songs, rather than the one he nailed.

Am I just too old to watch this show? How on EARTH can Simon think that the generic David A showed himself to be the star between the two of them? David C has more personailty and style and, yes, star power in his guitar pick than David A has ever shown. I could see if Simon said that David A was a better singer, but the better “star”?!
