I called a few times for DC. Mostly busy. Might try again later, but for now the Twins have the bases loaded with nobody out.
Maybe the judges are using reverse psychology on us. I wish I knew if Cook really wants this. He did say something about “going for the gold”, but does he truly care?
Screw it. I’m voting.
Cooks second song was irredeemable. It was a badly written sing song piece of crap. Bad song ,boring result. Seemed like a Monkees bad tune.
Cookie would have done well with Collective Soul’s December
Off to vote, and vote, and vote, and vote again…
Hmph. Profound disagreements with the judges around here.
I was surprised at how well DA did with the Elton John song. Very different personalities, but apparently fairly similar voices. I thought that was the best thing he’s done all season.
But the U2 and Collective Soul? Fabulous.
My mom’s going to wear out the redial button on her phone. She’s getting through on probably 40% of her calls.
I liked it…
Archie’s songs were chosen for mass appeal. He’s like a little sellout. He might win tomorrow nite because people are dupes… But Cook is the real rocker and winner in my book.
Just saying…
Oh so cute and cuddly…
Although that doesn’t seem quite right for DC, does it?
I’m not getting through at all anymore.
Getting through consistently on Cook’s 05 line.
Well, I hoped that tonight would be a good final. It was so “good” that I dropped out altogether. I stopped paying attention and did household chores in the kitchen. I could hear, and if anything had sounded good, I would have changed rooms.
I started to get through 100% of the time on 05 too.
Ok, I caved and decided to phone in a few votes.
Apparently I misdialed, since I’m fairly sure AI’s call center isn’t in the Yukon.
Anyone wanna help me out?
1 866 436 5701 or 03 or 05.
For David C, it’s 1-866-43657-01 -03 or -05.
For David A, it’s 9-1109-20029-200200290-202
Ahh, it’s not 876 at all then. :smack:
I love that you supplied the right contestant’s numbers, too.
Hahaha!
I mentioned it, I believe, in one of the first threads. And then once again, wondering why no one agreed with me. Good to see someone does.
I must say I was very surprised tonight. Cook phoned it in, simple as that. Sometimes that happens, like after a dress rehearsal. You feel the valve open and all the pressure leave. It’s a feeling that it’s already finished. It’s an afterglow that leaves one exhausted and content. When that happens, the live performance is anticlimactic from the singer’s point of view. It happened to Cook tonight.
Archuleta, who in my grade sheets has scored lower than Cook as often as higher, released his valve tonight live. This was his climax, and those amazing tenor tones rang out like bells in Westminster Abbey. Beautiful.
I like their mutually respectful relationship. I like that Cook takes on willingly the role of mentor. And I like that Archuleta takes Cook’s lead — applauding when he applauds and shuffling when he shuffles. Whatever comes out of this finale, their relationship seems genuine to me, and is the best I can recall from any season.
Simon got it right: Archuleta won the night. Whether he won Idol, however, remains to be seen. The question is whether there is sufficient irrational hatred of Archuleta in the gen-pop to make a difference. I’m not sure there is. I might have to eat the prediction I made in the OP.
DAVID ARCHULETA, A+
DAVID COOK, A-
People can’t hate negative sales upon a singer. It’s only about whether people love enough to buy the record. We’ve learned that the passion people feel during Idol season wanes quickly, and I just don’t think David A has enough charisma to withstand the post-Idol-generated-hype phase of his career.
We’re both Cook fans but my SO maintains that she would buy Archuleta’s christmas album.
I think it’s a good point.
