And that’s probably why she’s going to win the whole thing. Her getting choked up at the end is going to draw votes like crazy. People are suckers for that ‘glurgy dreck’.
But like others have said, what kind of future does she have? Maybe she can sing the love/inspirational song on the next Disney animated feature that runs during the credits. Then they’ll put that track on the soundtrack and it’ll sell well.
But an entire album of just her???
Personally, I like Blake’s music style better than Jordan’s, but I do believe she’s the better singer. And her choking up at the end of {contest winning generic glurge song} (and the cynical side of me wonders if it was deliberate) probably got her a lot of “awww” votes.
Right or wrong, my eyes kept insisting he was wearing a Civil War officer’s uniform. A Confederate officer. Brain could not compute.
Ya know…it didn’t matter what they sang, or how well they sang it. The people who liked Jordin before will vote for her again, and the same for Blake. (OK, there may be one or two complete nimrods who base their vote on that night’s performance.)
Has somebody sung “Broken Wing” at some point in every season of AI?
That or Independence Day. Even with it being the last show, Jordin still didn’t sing the whole song, with the verse where the beat-down woman finally breaks away? Silly.
This is my first season watching AI, and I’m curious about the opinions of veteran watchers on this subject. Do you think that actual performances at this stage in the game influence the vote much? Or is jsc1953’s statement an accurate description of how things work? I think it rings true.
I think clearly Jordin does. Black, female, more similar song stylings than Blake’s beatboxing. The fact that all the Melinda voters will now vote for Jordin is the reason that IMO Jordin is a shoe-in to win.
(Not surprisingly, perhaps) I was thinking the opposite. As a huge Melinda supporter, I can sympathize with a mindset that might blame Jordin to some degree for Melinda’s fate, and then respond by supporting Blake out of spite or to punish Jordin.
Jodi’s view seems logical, and Liberal’s makes a kind of perverse sense, and I fall into a third category. For four or five weeks, my hierarchy of preference was Melinda, Blake, Jordin. So when Melinda went home, my vote shifted to Blake.
During the Bo Bice/Carrie Underwood finale, I thought Carrie Underwood did terrible. She was clearly so nervous, and none of her songs were very good at all. If that was the only time I had seen her I would wonder how she got that far. But she had already sealed the votes.
I forgot how much fun the final show was. It’s too long and I missed a lot (tuned in when Kelly Clarkson was singing). Seeing all the old guys was fun. Smokey was a blast! Yeah, I know you younguns complain about all the oldies and how many of you complain about all the Mowtown and R&B but-- how do I put this nicely-- too bad for you!
