American Idol week of 3/14

I can picture Chris singing something by Elvis. Maybe “Heartbreak Hotel” or “Hard Headed Woman.”

**Ace: ***I Only Have Eyes For You * - Flamingos

**Bucky: **Jim Dandy - Lavern Baker

**Chris: **Shout - Isley Brothers

**Elliot: **The Great Pretender - Platters

**Katharine: **I’m Walkin’ - Fats Domino

**Kellie: **Your Cheating Heart - Hank Williams

**Kevin: **Only You - Platters

**Lisa: **In The Still Of The Nite - Five Satins

**Mandisa: **Fever - Little Willie John

**Paris: **Why Do Fools Fall In Love - Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers

**Taylor: **Tutti-Frutti - Little Richard

Here’s a list of the most popular 100, for inspiration.

Kevin: Love Potion #9, for the most “appalling” combo of singer and song.

Someone (Bucky?) should do “Jambalaya (On the Bayou)” just for fun. And “Rave On” is upbeat and fun too.

Barry’s album:

  1. Moments To Remember
  2. It’s All In The Game
  3. Unchained Melody
  4. Venus
  5. It’s Not For Me To Say
  6. Love Is A Many Splendored Thing
  7. Rags To Riches
  8. Sincerely/Teach Me Tonight (Duet with Phyllis McGuire)
  9. Are You Lonesome Tonight?
  10. Young At Heart
  11. All I Have To Do Is Dream
  12. What A Diff’rence A Day Made
  13. Beyond The Sea

I should say, a list of the most popular 100, based on their criteria.

Looking at the list from Barry’s album, I think Elliot should try “Unchained Melody.” He really needs to knock one out of the park this week, and I think that just might be the song to do it. If he could do something interesting and unique with it, he’d gain a lot of respect.

I hope someone does “All I Have to Do is Dream.” I absolutely love that song.

Paris-- Take 5 (like at the audition!)
The Pickler-- Crazy
Elliot-- Mona Lisa
Katherine-- Dedicated To The One I Love
Taylor-- Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
Mandisa-- Since I Don’t Have You.
Kevin-- Mack the Knife
Chris-- Rock Around The Clock

I forgot Ace and Lisa!
Ace-- Purple People Eater (suits his voice)
Lisa-- There Goes My Baby

So, which are they doing? Any songs of the 50s or just Barry’s album?

Oh, that could be good. LeAnn Rimes, Jr.! Hopefully “the 50s” is a genre she may have heard of.

I forgot Bucky too but I ain’t got nuttin for him. I do, however, wanna change my Mandisa wish to Heatwave.

I just remembered that I wanted to add further comment to this the other day but I forgot. Sure, Elliot may have been over the top when he cried at meeting Stevie. Still, I can understand how it would be an emotional moment for him. Stevie Wonder is one of his idols, and he loves his music and likely is well-versed in it. Compare that to the Pickler, who admittedly didn’t know any Stevie songs before this week. So what in hell was she crying about when Stevie walked into the room? That chick is seriously getting on my every last nerve.

Bucky: It’s Alright, Mama by Elvis

Hey, are Chris and Bullethead from the auditions the same guy?

I think Crazy was released in the 60s.

no, Bullet head was cut pretty early on in Hollywood, thank goodness.

Chris is far less skeevy.

I wish Simon would acknowledge that, for all his fawning over Chris’s real-world performances, he was the sole “no” vote at the audition. I notice that he’s dropped that dumb business about lacking “charisma” lately.
