American Idol week of 4/7

Adam is the class of this field. It just aint a fair fight. It seems like he works very hard with the band and the lighting to get the right theatrics. Moreso than any of the other contestants.

I think Allison might have edged out Adam this week. Gokey wasn’t even 3rd. I think even Anoop did better than the Goke this week.

I agree. Adam is very meticulous and detail oriented. He really designs a whole performance every week, from hair and wardrobe, to the precise arrangement he wants to every move on stage.

Dammit. This thing ran over and I missed the person I care to see the most (DVR got me). Anyone know where to view Adam’s online?

There’s Adam, and then there’s everyone else. I was waiting for him to get over-ambitious and do a crash and burn, but I don’t think he’s going to. He’s just that good, smart and experienced. He has a great voice, and he really understands how to use it. Carrie Underwood was the last person I thought stood out from the crowd this much(all due respect to Bo Bice, who’s better than a few other season winners himself), and I think Adam would win over her.

Allison is AMAZING, for a 16 year-old. Give her the 10 more years experience Adam has, and it will be very interesting to see where she is. She’s very, very talented at even this young age. Unlike other “rocker chicks” we’ve seen on Idol, she has the voice to do more than rock. She can have a very nice career.

Ppl like Adam and Allison is why I watch this show. Some folks seem to watch just to hate on the contestants, but for me, it’s the chance every second or third season to see one or two ppl that deserve to be a star.

Laugh of the season:

Adam’s parents:
Mom: “Adam was interested in everything!”
Dad: “Sports, not so much”

If I’d been drinking, I’d have had an **epic **spit-take.

Followed by Adam “I liked to play dress up more than soccer.”

I nearly had a heart attack and died from lack of surprise!

I have called Lambert since auditions, and am so glad he continues to be amazing. I would put that performance with Fantasia’s “Summertime”. I also think they put him at the end knowing it would go longer to screw the people that DVR, because this is Fox’s big time to make money off commercials. Matt Girard was the only one I thought was good, but I hated his hat because I felt like he was taking the Justin Timberlake references too seriously. I agree with an Allison/Adam final two, which is why I am voting like crazy for Allison, I know Adam doesn’t need my votes.

ETA: I loved that Adam toned down the eye makeup and hair this time. This guy knows what he’s doing, and I don’t think it’s the least bit unfair. He’s savvy as hell, and has the talent to back it up. Allison has the talent, and I really hope she will do great as well.

SECONDED!!! Aaaaggghhhh stupid DVR!!

Yep, Allison is best as far as I’m concerned. I don’t know why she didn’t make it before this show.
When Scott said, the guitar was electric to show his ‘punk side’, I was sure he would’ve done better with any punk like song from that year; heck even My Way would’ve been okay.
For sure hes got to be in the bottom 3. I love that song he did, but he sure doesn’t have the vocals like the original singer did (who was…?)
Please make Gokey leave.
I’ve actually never heard the song Adam did before tonight.

Stupid Fox. Here it is:

I warned you about the show going over in Post 43. (if you read btwn the lines)

Consider this advanced warning that they will probably go over one hour next week too, especially if they have a mentor. Add an extra 15 minutes to your DVR recordings.

Jimi Jamison, from Survivor (the band, not the show).

Yep, I have a full fledged man crush now.

I definitely will next time. I should have known better this time, too. But I typically try to stay out of this thread only reading a few posts at a time as I see the performers. I even like to see the song they are going to sing and youtube it so I can see the original and then theirs. That leads me to be pretty far behind the actual show.

Ahh, sweet relief. Much obliged.

And I really enjoy that Adam went for the cover version by Gary Jules.

Geez… I’m flattered, but all I did was provide the link.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I just tuned in on DVR and third the gratitude for the Lambert link, especially now that YouTube has cracked down on clips this year. Since I’m sure mine cut off early as well, I watched the clip first, now I’m catching up on the show.

Adam was amazing, full stop.

Best to worst:

Adam - Once again, he knows how to deliver a song. Dynamics, tempo, body movement, the whole thing. Great performance.

Allison - She’s the anti-Adam. Where everything Adam does is planned to perfection, she’s just got natural talent and the songs just flow out of her. She makes it look effortless, and she always seems to deliver the song just right.

Then there’s a wide gap…

Kris: I liked him better than most of you, I guess. And once again, I want to violently dismember the sound people on this show. It looked to me like Kris was doing some very cool stuff on the guitar - he had kind of a ‘B Movie’ soul riff going there, plus some interesting looking fills, and we didn’t get to hear any of it because the morons who do the sound mixing left his guitar on the floor. They screw up like this on someone almost every week.

Anoop - Good vocals. Boring presentation. Yeah, you’re a nice guy. I don’t care. I’d never pay money to watch you sing, because it’s just not that interesting.

Matt - Sorry, the Timberlake hat just turned me off, and the Jazz noodlings annoyed me. On the plus side, the hat covered the small alien growing out of his forehead.

Danny - Wow! You started slow, then did your soulful-Gokey chest thumping power ballad thing. Who’d have guessed? B-O-R-I-N-G

Lil - Oh man, I almost busted a gut when you came out with the Tina Turner walk. And the way you turned your head in the one verse was so exactly like Tina in the video for that song that I’m guessing you practiced it in the mirror. And that’s why you sucked. The judges were unanimous and right - that was more a second-rate Tina Turner impersonation than it was an audion to be a star. Apparently, you don’t have an original bone in your body.

Scott - This was his best vocal performance so far. It still sucked. And that guitar ‘playing’… I think I could play like that after my first week playing guitar. Maybe after the first hour. It sounded pretty bad. But if you want to blame the sound guys for mixing it in wrong and making it sound worse than it was, I’m down with that. In any event, you should go home.

So can we just crown Adam now and dispense with the rest of the noise?

Oh, ok, let’s fight over second place (To the tune of “Attica!” from Dog Day AFternoon) ALI-SON! ALI-SON!

That girl is amazing.

I havent’ read the whole thread, but do most folks here realize that the arrangement Adam used was Gary Jules’? Not that it takes away, I just like credit given…

Four were good.
Adam seemed to sing an amalgam of Tears For Fears & Donny Darko.
Four were awful.:frowning:
Kris, Scott, & Lil threw themselves under the same bus.
