American Idol week of 4/7

Adam’s song was done originally by Tears for Fears, but many people are more familiar with another version that was used in the Donnie Darko soundtrack.
He did a nice job with it.

I thought Lil should sing “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”; I thought it would be a breakthrough moment for her. After hearing her perform it, I hope she gets voted off soon. She is missing whatever it takes to be a star. That should have been her song. It’s not the songs or the song choices; it’s her.

I didn’t love Adam’s song, but singing along with the clip on Youtube, I have a new respect for him - that was freaking hard to sing! And he nailed it all except a little bit of the last note. I want to dislike him as a musical theatre ham, but he has too much charisma for that - I like him in spite of myself.

I’m not loving Allison as much as everybody else. I think she’s talented and has a strong voice, but that loud grunting thing she does is annoying. I was really enjoying her performance lastnight, until she started grunting.

I think Lil has a much better voice. But, she lacks the confidence that Allison has, to choose songs that showcase her talents.

And it’s freaking hard to fix a note that you start out wrong. Man, I thought it would fall apart, but he managed to fix the vowel and center it just right so he could hold it out. I’m blown away.

Not to sound like an echo… but go Adam and Allison all the way!

I bear in mind that Allison is still only 16 and hasn’t fully matured as a singer yet. Those breathing kinks are evidence of that. She’s getting by on raw talent right now. Once she’s had some time to really let her voice mature and to work on her breathing and technique she’s going to be a lot better. She’ll get some top of the line coaching after this, I’m sure. Not that she needs a lot of coaching, just a little tweaking.

I think they mentioned last night that she actually has had vocal coaching. I agree with the assessment of raw talent as her strength and youth as her weakness, though.

I watch Idol with my neighbor/landlord who is a voice teacher and choir director, etc., FWIW, and she thinks from Allison’s speaking voice that maybe she has nodes on her vocal cords.

It’s that raspyness, eh?

Results are on. The group song was awful!(except for Allison in the beginning) I think my ears are bleeding.

the group sing really stunk up the joint this week. one more reason to get rid of Scott. The choreographers have an impossible task with Scott in the mix.

Oh…and besides the fact that Scott is the least talented of the eight left.

Or she’s been smoking for the past 10 of her 16 years.

Anoop, Scoot and Lil

in the bottom three, with

Lil

just being sent back to the couches. I think we’ll be saying goodbye to

Scott.

Wooh, good. I was afraid they were going to save him.

I was actually surprised how long it took to get a ‘no’ out. They’re taking a page from Ryan’s book.

That was almost gripping. I like how Simon explained how they needed to hold the save just in case.
It seems like if you are the first, or one of the first told to stand up, you are safe.

It took a long time to get the ‘no’ out because they have 10 minutes of show they’re stretching to fill an hour. It was something like 8 minutes before the end of the hour and Seacrest was standing on stage with the final two. I’m sure during the commercial break they told the judges “drag it out, we have dead air to fill”.

Did anyone really believe they were seriously considering saving him?

That’s one of the things I love about this show! The run over on one night, then the next night they have 5 minutes to fill. You never know what’s going to happen! It’s craaaazeee!

The whole bottom 3 is in borrowed time.
