Allison should do Warrior by Scandal!

mjsbigblog is reporting that next week will be one solo each plus duets. I think that could be interesting. Who’s the poor kid who gets stuck with Danny? I’d like to hear an Allison and Adam duet. I think their voices would contrast nicely.

I think Allison should do Bon Jovi. You Give Love a Bad Name? Never Say Goodbye? I’m pretty sure she doesn’t have the range for Amy Lee.

MJ aso narrowed down the theme to “Classic rock songs of the 70s and 80s.”

Wow… can’t believe I missed that, although IMHO based on that weak performance, the AI Pearl Jam hymen still needs a good strong thrust…

You seem overly optimistic about the chances of someone who was in the bottom two last week despite being at the top of his game. Danny was in the top two, and the other person in the top two was someone who has been in the bottom three several times., so he would at this point seem to be the clear front runner.

Based on this blog entry, Adam may not have been in the bottom two.

The short version is that the New York Post published an interview with Nigel Lythgoe in which he admitted that, while the bottom three are indeed the bottom three vote-getters, the order in which the bottom three are “released” is intended to maximize drama, and does not necessarily reflect vote numbers.

I totally think that Gokey, Alllison, and Adam were the top three by a mile. Amusingly, since I think Adam was probably in third place, he could have joined either group and been correct. Ryan just asked which group he belonged with, not which one was the bottom two. I hate to say it but Gokey was actually good the other night. I love Allison but her phrasing was off. Finally, why not have them do two songs each? They’re making it too easy.

As long as she doesn’t do “Black Velvet”. favorite of so many AI auditioners.

I don’t understand how two songs each, one a duet, is easier than two solo songs each.

Ooh, here’s my chance to do AI math!
2[solo songs/contestants]*4[contestants]=8[songs]
(1[solo songs/contestant]+1[duet songs/pair]/2[contestants/pair])*4[contestants]=6[songs]

8[songs]>6[songs], ergo Adam will boost the chances of whomever he performs with.

Well, your math notwithstanding, if I have to learn two songs, I have to learn two songs. I think the shorter part for the duet is easily matched by having to sing with another person.

Mathematically, 2=2. Or 8=8, if you prefer. There are 6 songs, but 8 performances.

I’d give Allsion fifty cents to do a Janis tune. Try (Just a little bit harder) or Down on Me – she’d kill with either.

Six total songs vs. eight.

Edit: Huh…looks like I had this window open longer than I thought…

From a time standpoint, the producers would rather have to deal with fitting in six songs rather than eight.

MJ has some great suggestions for this week’s song choices, including the genius pick of “Gimme Shelter” for an Adam/Allison duet.

Ooh, and switch the genders for the vocals - not because of that “Adam is teh gay” tripe, but because it would work better that way. Adam would do better than Allison with the Merry Clayton part, and Allison would rock the growly Jagger part.

I fear the “Rock” weeks, because we often end up with tepid covers, like Adam’s “Born to be Wild”. Maybe it’s because I listen to “Classic Rock” a lot, AI performances often fall short, to my ears. Maybe this week will be different (crosses fingers). It IS a good group this year.

adam’s “born to be wild” was a broadway/vegas version. as good as his voice is, he wrecked that song. the worst performance he’s ever had. awful really.

i don’t know how they’re going pick the pairs for the duets, but if i were one of the three guys left, i’d be praying that i’d be paired up with allison.

male/female duets usually work better than male/male.

I was picturing it the same way. And I know the song can get cleared, because the Clark Brothers did it on The Next Great American Band. Oh, how my hopes are gonna get dashed tonight.
