American's pizza poll

No.

Pineapple is an abomination. Pineapple on pizza doubly so.

Yes! Even just pineapple pizza.

Yes. Oh yes.

I do not like Hawaiian Pizza. I have never, ever bought a Hawaiian Pizza.

(I did buy a pizza in Hilo one time, but I guess that doesn’t count?)

Repulsive and reprehensible. Not fit for man nor beast. I question the sanity and taste of anyone who even would consider such an abomination.

In case I’m unclear: no, no, a thousand times no.

Yes.

Pepperoni and pineapple is also pretty damn good (though not as good as CB & P)

Strangely, prosciutto and pineapple - not good. I don’t know why. You’d think it would be better than canadian bacon or ham & pineapple, but it just doesn’t seem to work.

No.

Harmonious, as you’ve indicated there is a huge difference between what people say they like and what they’ll pick. I like just about every food known to man, but I’ll still be selective when I’ve got a choice.

I like pineapple and Canadian bacon pizzas. But I might prefer sausage and garlic at a buffet, even enough to wait for it. The proportion of the population who “like” it will not explain the buffet problem you’ve described. Two completely different animals.

This confusion is related to why I never tell people what my “favorite” anything is. All too often they think it will please me to offer me my favorite every flippin time. No thanks.

Papa John’s has a chicken-bacon-pineapple 'za with a sweet BBQ sauce that I’ve set up as my standard order. Love.

There’s another place in town that serves a gyro pizza - schwarma, feta, onions, tomatoes on tzitziki sauce - and with their excellent crust it really does taste exactly like a regular gyro. Only a lot bigger.

Tonight I was at a restaurant that has a shrimp and roasted peach 'za with a slightly sweet chili sauce as its base that was lovely.

Some commercial fropi (Freschetta’s?) used to make a chicken pizza with Thai peanut sauce.

One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had was made of carmelized onions and gorgonzola cheese.

Pizza “purists” puzzle me. They have no idea what they’re missing when it comes to the round, toasted, open-faced sandwich genre.

I love it, along with almost any other kind of pizza.

I love Hawaiian pizza, but the wife does not like pineapple (odd for a Thai not to like pineapple), so we never order it.

Ha! I’LL tell YOU about weird pizza. Over here, you can get it with carrots, peas and/or corn! That’s REAL sacrilege. Other odd ingredients, too. Some of the Thai-food variations, like “tom yum kung” pizza or spicy chicken are actually not bad, though.

I don’t eat meat on pizza, in any form. Bacon or ham would be double ungood.

Pineapple’s fine, though, although I rarely order it. Generally speaking, I’m a purist - pizza should consist of pizza: dough, tomato sauce and cheese. Anything else would just be a distraction.

But I’m weird that way. I mean, I’m just about the only Israeli who eats his falafel sans salad.

A result of almost no likes would have shown a reason for the hawaiian pizza just sitting there. Nobody that dislikes it will take it, but the reverse isn’t true. This poll as asked was meant specifically for seeing if the reason it sat there was almost nobody liked it.

I’m not American, but hell no! Pineapples should stay on the trees*, where they grow.

  •

Yes.

I thought I’d hate it, but it was delicious.

It’s not what I usually order, though. But at a pizza buffet where it’s present, I’ll have a slice or two.

Delivering pizza from IMHO to Cafe Society.

A few years ago, I found a page of weird Japanese pizzas. I can’t find it now, but if you google “Japanese pizza,” there are some weird ones.

Pizza-La, apparently the most popular pizza chain in Japan.

Joe

Wow, that Pizza-La…raw ham!!!

Yes, mahalo.

I love it.
