It’s definitely spring. I just caught an anole with a death wish in my bedroom. It was walking towards Petercat. Petercat took out an anole’s eye playing with it last year.
Hai everybody.
I’m sorry, I haven’t really read much…
Carrot, I’m glad your dad is okay and on the mend, though I’m sorry they still can’t figure out what’s causing his troubles.
Spaz, I had to look up what an anole is. Ew. Anything with scales has no place in my bedroom… ew ew ew. Glad you caught it before Petercat did, tho.
We’re trying to keep some semblance of sanity around here… various family members are trickling into town to provide support and comfort (Mumsy just arrived an hour or so ago), and I’m making daily visits to grandmother to make sure she’s okay since aunt and cousins are in no shape to do much of anything. We’re all still trying to understand how something like this could and did happen… hopefully the police investigation will bring some closure, but I’m not holding my breath. It still doesn’t feel real.
My employer has kindly allowed me to use vacation days to deal with the mess. :dubious: Nice, huh?
Apparently, I can’t use sick days for this purpose because I’m not actually sick, and the company doesn’t provide bereavement leave except for immediate family. I know this policy is so that people can’t use the death of their 98-yr-old great-aunt twice removed as an excuse to play hooky… but still, it pisses me off that they can’t be a little more flexible, considering I’ve taken a whopping eight sick days in the seven years I’ve worked for Faceless Evil Corporation.
Aww, Muppet. Sorry for all the sadness and stress.
Took a 2-hour nap. Feel much better. Back to conquering the household.

Back from the boat. I put 2 coats of Cetol on most of the teak. Last coat will be tomorrow morning. We got a set of steps from the clearance sale at Boater’s World for easy boarding. They’re now screwed down to the dock, and they work great. Yay.
I’ll be going out to ride the mower in the yard shortly. Then I’m quitting for the night. Gotta pull something out of the freezer for supper. Always something…
**MamaTigs **- I sent you an email.
Muppet, I’m sorry to read about all you’re having to deal with. Sending big hugs your way.
Back from getting my son a state ID, but he MUST go down and get a permit this week or he’ll be screwed out of getting his license before he’s 18. Damn.
I’ve been sitting here all day, ripping many many CD’s that Mr Rebo bought at a garage sale. I’m in the home stretch now. There are about 50 of them! He got some good ones, though.
It has been raining like a mutha since yesterday afternoon. The yard is a lake.
I’m gonna make a big ol’ pot of stew very shortly. Mmm.
Sorry about all the crap, Muppet. Bosses can be such assholes.
I hope you’re feeling better soon, Rigs! That can be soooo aggravating.
Time to check on the dryer…
Muppet sorry for all you’re going through. It’s tough havin’ to use vacation time for this.
It’s been a lazy day at da cave. Food consumption has been cereal, toast and sammiches. Two naps and “appreciation” have been had.
We’re goin’ to a graduation party in a little while which means I should go get presentable. I suppose I should do a nice shirt and slacks and be all presentable.
I took a bath, applied the medicine(s) as directed and laid down (for maximum um, “retention”) and promptly fell asleep for 3 hours. I am a new woman. (thank god) Believe me, the hairbrush would have been an improvement!
Stripper is on the swing (that does sound a bit odd) and now I have to wait 3 hours for it to work.
Mahna–that is so sucky. I really don’t like it when company policy doesn’t recognize human concerns. A coworker had a tragedy happen to her daughter last fall and she got only a month off to deal with it (her 18 year old daughter suffered a crippling accident and major stroke–not a broken leg or the flu). She has FMLA, but she really needs to be half time. She can’t be and keep her job (and we have a hiring freeze on so she wouldn’t be rehired). Stoopit company policy.
Howdy! I’ve been working, and watching the Canes play. My friends and I were on TV the other night while at the Ale House. Gordie is throwing a baseball at me.
{{{{{}}}}}} and scritches for rigs
Sorry Muppet.
thank you, I try.
Glad Carrotdad is better. I hope the profs are understanding.
Spaz, tell Petercat that it’s all fun and games till someone loses an eye.
Hope the itchies are gone soon, rigs.
Also, thank you for sharing, swampy.
I’ve been slowly cleaning up because little brother is spending the “night.” He just called and said he’d be her sometime after midnight. And he’ll be leaving around 5 (early flight). So he’ll be sleeping for a few hours then off to an exciting week at some conference. I’ve still got to vacuum, but after that, I’ll be crashing for a while.
Hugs.

Had good chinese dinner with BCSurvivor friend - but the fortunes were dull and definitely not remotely snerkable
Just fininshed a Mike’s
Off to sleep - tomorrow I shall be productive
No, really. I will. You’ll see.
Looks like I’m the first one up this morning … imagine that! I’ll put a pot of coffee to brew and make sure that the ice cube supply is up to snuff for those who like their caffeine iced. Oh yes, I’ve got a supply of tea and soda as needed.
I’m only half-caffeinated myself, though, so I’m afraid I’ll have to use Rosie’s sig this morning. While I’m grateful for the beautiful (so far!) weekend, why does Monday have to be filled with rain again?! I still haven’t gotten to Whole Foods either. I need some meat substitution suggestions too, if anyone has any, please.
Enjoy your Sunday all.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. The grad party was interestin’. The honoree is highly allergic to ants and got ant bit. He had to go to the emergency room for a shot or two of stuff. He made it back to the party in about an hour though. Poor guy. We hung around til about 8:30. I had to get back to da cave. It’s definitely allergy season and I was miserable from the oak pollen all around us last night. I came home, took some Benadryl [sup]TM[/sup] and went beddy bye. Had a great night’s sleep though.
Ok, time for more caffiene and consideration of brekkies. I might even cook a real breakfast. That’ll get ol’ y’all know who up!
tarra, I’ve been up for a while, but apart from tending to the menagerie, I had to water all my houseplants. And I got the email from the electric co announcing my bill was ready for viewing - holy crap, having the kids here *more *than doubles our electricity useage!! I need to talk to them about turning stuff OFF! SIL leaves the computer printer and speakers on whether he’s got the computer on or not. I have to wonder if he has lights on all day, too. We shall discuss.
It’s overcast, but not supposed to rain till this evening, so putting the last coat on the teak should be more pleasant today - at least, less hot. No yard work for now - I mowed the early weeds along the side and the little bit of grass out back. I need to get the push mower and do the front - maybe later this week. We got the sticks up in the front yard, plus loaded the rest of the branches from the back on to the trailer.
The dump isn’t open today, so maybe I can take it after work on day this week, depending upon SIL’s schedule, since I need the van. We haven’t taught him to back the trailer, so he can’t do it for us. Plus it’s a huge load - definitely a 2-people job. That’s something to look forward to.
Speaking of looking forward - do we have someone on deck for tomorrow? Maybe someone who hasn’t started things off for a while… or ever??
Happy Sunday! Off to caffeinate.
It seems there is already a new MMP up…?
Tonight starts Yom HaShoah- Holocaust Remembrance day. My mother will be speaking and a memorial service.
She is one of the last survivors alive- the generation is dying out. Soon there will no longer be anyone alive who was there.
Yep, looks like we’ve got a returning Mumper starting us off a bit early. Guess that answers that!
