That’s what I used to remind myself how to do it. My jam came out The Yum. In a couple of hours I’m going over to Irish Brother’s place to give him his jar since he wasn’t home at a reasonable hour on Monday.

Rosie’s sig to all!

**Spaz **- I found that via Google, but I opted to follow the directions on the pectin pack for my first time. My biggest goof - I bought pint jars instead of half pint, so I have 4 plus a little… Oh well. And it’s a very messy process - my kitchen looked like a disaster area!

Once they’ve come out of the bath, do they have to be refrigerated before opening?

Daughter moved most of her furniture out today - she’s spending the night at her new place tonight. Tomorrow, she plans to finish packing, and the last thing to go will be her cat. By Monday, she’ll be gone. I’m not thrilled, but I’ve accepted the arrangement.

**FCD **and I are going to Annapolis tomorrow for breakfast and some boat stuff. We haven’t been there in a while, so this should be a fun day.

I need a shower, after which I shall assume the knit position for the evening. I’s tahred! I worked hard today!

No, once the seals pop they’re airtight and good until you open them. I put my jars in the dish drain until they all sealed. It took a couple of hours.

Best tip I ever got about canning: leave the jars in the dishwasher on heated dry so they’ll be hot when you’re ready to put the jam in them. My mom used to boil the jars. My mom also had a jar grabber. I really need to get that and the Foley mill soon so I can do blackberry jam and possibly grape jelly. You really need the mill for grape jelly to get the pits out of the grapes.

Good thoughts and prayers headed out for **mr. mmmmm’s **Mom. Hang in there on the relocation stuff, mmmmm.

FCM - if the lids are sealed properly you don’t need to refrigerate the jam until after you open the jar.

I’ve never made strawberry jam. Well…except for a small amount of freezer jam, now that I think about it, with lime. Yum. I’ve made grape and cherry, though. Not together. Both also yum.

Took a nap after I came home. That felt good. At least today was less traumatic.

Guess I should go find something to do. I’m tired because I read what FCM did today. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hugs.

mmmmmms prayers and good thoughts headed out for Mr. mmmmmmmms mom and for all the family.

I put <snerk> Butt Rub <snerk> on the ribs. They’re sittin’ in the fridge and will get smoked in the mornin’. YUM!!!

I see no need to make jam or jelly as long as Smuker’s, Welch’s and the like stay in bidness.

Those of you who had appendages crossed for me can uncross them now, thanks.

I did get a job offer, for a company where I already had a short stint a few years back and with my favorite agent. There’s people who despise him because those projects he does under his own company’s name are not “high-flying” enough for them, without realizing that first, he’s the biggest subcontractor in Spain for one of the Big 4 (about half the consultants that particular firm provides here are actually “his”, and some of them do get a lot of air miles); second, if he can’t find you a job at reasonable rates nobody can (dude has more contacts than the yellow pages); third, he pays faster than about anybody else and using Actual Billing (instead of sending your bill for May on May 25th to be paid on July 31st and having to issue a corrected bill if you miss a day of work between May 25-31, you send a bill on June 1st and get paid on June 6th).

The job is 2h away from my place, too, so I’ll be coming here every weekend. That means I can paint the room which is in great need of a new coat once my roomie leaves, yay (he’s getting the keys to his flat next month). It’s for a couple of months, until they can hire someone permanent for it - I’m to train that person as well.

Prayers for the M-clan added to those for TomKitten’s Godfather and our own Herbs.

Haven’t been around- Rosie’s sig to all.

Just wanted to pop in and say that today is my girl’s Bat Mitzvah day.

OMG.

I’m trying to remember to breathe. She’s fine. I’m a wreck!

 (I really miss the little Jewish smiley dude).

I haven’t been around much this week either, been a crazy busy week with exams and stuff for me so I’m joining Soapy in spreading a little more of rosie’s sig around the place.

We have a three-day weekend which is good news as I could do with a few days doing absolutely nothing. We were supposed to be fixing the fence panel by the side of the house as that was damaged in some strong winds earlier in the week but it looks like the nice guy who owns the rental property next door has fixed it for us.

I could do with getting out and cutting down some more of the grass but the weather is not too promising so I’ll have to see how it goes. Maybe tomorrow…or maybe not!

Off to do errands in town now, and then we’re off to the pub tonight with friends.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated, brekkied and got ribs on the smoker. I’m usin’ a sloooooooooow cook process today that should take between four and five hours. The last hour to an hour and a half, the ribs are wrapped in heavy duty foil. Makes ‘em all juicy and tender. YUM! On the weather front, ‘tis 73 and foggy out right now but fog should clear out in a bit and it’ll be 95 Amurrkin and hawt this afternoon. Good pool/party weather. I suppose if one is kickin’ off Summer one should have Summer weather. Of course the perfect Summer day would include a tboomer around fiveish but I ain’t holdin’ out for that. I’d love one of those fifteen-twenty minute storms however. Anywho, beer is chilled, ribs be smokin’, corn on the cob is ready to go on the grill later on (yes, grilled, in the husk even!).

Congrats on your Bat Mitzvah SoapyGirl!

Yay on the job offer Nava!

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

to the Soap-ette: !!מזל טוב, מזל טוב

Ah, thank you Rosie! I’ll post some pictures in the next MMP!

Good morning! I plan to take it easy today.

Congrats to Bat Mitzvah girl!

Thoughts and prayers and healing vibes to those that need them.

Later!

Thanks so much, everyone, for the healing thoughts and prayers, they are very greatly appreciated!! Guess I didn’t realize how far I’d slipped, so to speak. Prayers back for Tomkitten’s godparent, and Mr.Mmmmm’s Mom, and anyone else who might need them. While the O2 has helped clear some cobwebs out, it hasn’t gotten to all of them.

Thanks again all, and Happy Memorial Day.

I’m tryin’ to be nice. However, somebody needs to get his hairy butt outta bed soon. I might need to make noise in the general vicinity of a closed bedroom door.

In other news, I lurve the smell of hickory smoke. Mr. Smoker is smokin’ away out on the deck.

Funny how sometimes you don’t notice that your health is wrong. I had mono about 15 years ago and it took me quite a while to get back to normal. It was only after I’d gotten back to normal that I realized how much I’d been dragging as I was recovering. Hope things keep improving, tarra.

Congrats on the bat mitzvah to Soapy’s not-so-little girl! Do you want to get us started on Monday? If not, I can…

Fell asleep way too late, but I’m up now. Really.

Off to seek something to wake me up.

Hugs.

blurf. Sick and tired. Finished moving except for dogs. hope no one gets eaten.

{{{{{{{everyone}}}}}}}

gt findin’ a gorilla on your front porch would wake you up. Just sayin’…

OYKW finally joined the livin’. I am now all purtified. Also appropriately attired for pool time.

I’m kinda lookin’ forward to all this in case y’all can’t tell.

ETA: **{{{doggio}}} ** feel better and stay uneaten.

Congrats on the bat mitzvah to Soapy’s daughter! They grow sooo fast!

I’ve got finish caffienating and clean myself up so I can take my rig in for emissions testing and then get my car tabs. I need to get this all done before noon.

After that, I’ll probably do some tidying around here.

I’m going to lunch with some of my friends tomorrow. It’s a “girls” lunch. I’ll need to pick up one of the group and take her home. It’s irritating because it’s out of my way, but you do for your friends. She rarely drives herself anywhere.

Other than that, I don’t think we have any real plans. We need to buy some propane for the grill at some point this weekend too.

It’s gray and wet here. Not a surprise; it’s the weekend and it’s Washington.

swampy: :stuck_out_tongue:

Went to the parade - I’ve always missed it before. It was LONG! I forget how many people we have in our little suburb, but it’s not lots. And yet, we were able to get a 1/2-hour parade together, with lots of variety: vets, musicians, librarians, politicians (too many of those, actually), kids’ baseball teams, classic cars (about 4 sets of them), firefighters and cops, a tae kwan do school, some charitable organizations, the Army Corps of Engineers, and probably some others I’m forgetting. Amusing, at least.

Now it’s out to the garden, even though I’m suffering from the donwannas. It’s only supposed to get to 80 today; tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, it’s supposed to get to 90. Arghhhhhhh.

Off I go.

Hugs.

Watch out for gorillas in the bushes while you’re out there gt. One never knows where a gorilla might pop up!

Ribs are now wrapped in foil doin’ their final thang. When that’s done they shall be placed in a slow cooker still wrapped in foil to stay warm. I guarantee they’ll be fallin’ off the bone good! Oh and there is Sweet Ray’s bbq sauce for those who desire. However, I say a smoked rubbed rib needs no other embellishment.

In twenty three minutes it will be noon. That’s the official start of weekend beerverage time. Before noon is just trashy!
