What cites? You said you were having difficulty distiguishing the difference between arguing on an issue level and a personal level. I offered up an example to clarify the matter.
Maybe the problem is in the wording, as you seem to think I’m attacking you. The fist lines about gun control arguments are hypothetical. The “you” in those sentences does not mean Nothing But Net. As talented as I am, I can’t link to hypothetical situations.

Sigh… It’s pretty clear you’re still clueless, NBN. As a disinterested observer, I’ll explain how things look:

In the midst of an argument in a Pit thread, out of nowhere you basically say “Well, Esprix sucks dicks, you know.” Not only irrelevant, this is pretty rude. To me, it sounds exactly like mentioning “well, [person x] is black, after all…” in a disagreement about architecture.

This makes you look like an asshole, as has already been pointed out. Hence, an offhand remark made “in the heat of battle” defines you as an asshole right now.

You apologized for said remark. That’s good. That raises the possibility that you’re a perfectly nice, well-adjusted individiual who just said something rash and foolish. It doesn’t erase in our minds the possibility that you’re an asshole, though – you have to do that yourself, by consistently exhibiting non-assholish behavior for a while.

Now, only a day or two after your apology, you’re still defending the comment that you apologized for before by referring to it as nothing but an “offhand remark”. You’re also lashing out at people (e.g. Crunchy Frog) who are simply trying to correct misunderstandings you seem to have, but who otherwise had no problem with you.
In short, you’re not exactly winning me, the disinterested observer, over to the possibility that you’re a dashing, plucky individual who I will come to admire. My current guess is that you’re going to keep baiting people until you either drop out of sight or get yourself banned. I’d love to be proved wrong, though.
I’m honestly not trying to make you feel bad or criticize you. I’m just telling you how your behavior looks from the outside. You did something wrong – just let it go, and have fun on the boards.

If you’re referring to my post, I wasn’t calling you a racist. It was an analogy, in case you didn’t realize why someone would find your remark offensive. I wasn’t calling you a homophobe, either, despite the fact that your remark was, in fact, homophobic. In my opinion.
NBN, I am going to post an edited version of something I posted for inor a long time ago. Well, OK, so he got banned and now is over on my Board now…but he did try hard, nonetheless.
NBN - you cannot win. The sooner you come to grips with that the happier you will be. Your future has several similar, parallel Universes in it:

In this Universe, you continue to rage against the machine, fight the power, and get banned. You then go on to either continue on with life, or come back as a troll.

In this one, you just walk away from this, and continue to post in a reasonable manner. In time, people forget and you make lots of friends.

Another similar one is where you see your error (yes, you do not think you have made an error, but you have), apologize, and walk away from this thread. Same results as (2), but people forgive and forget quicker, thus you have more fun.

And there is another unhappy one, which is where, like me, you post a Board Meltdown thread somewhere, and blame your issues on booze, drugs, relationship, Bush, work, past abuse and rape, your dog telling you to “cleanse the Board”, or something. Then, 5% of the Board feels for you, 25% of the Board chalks you up as a dangerous, pathetic, pitable, possible psychopath (4 p’s, woo!), and the other 70% just don’t care. So that is not a good option either.
I guess what I’m saying is…do you have an end-game in mind? You can still belong here with us, you know. All it takes is an honest, forthright effort.

If you were a fruit fly I might give you the benefit of the doubt here. But until such time as you show me the picture of you with wings, hovering over month old bananas dropping balls of maggots, I shall assume you have the opposable thumbs that Darwin himself granted you.

Personally, I have nothing against you. I think your comment in one thread threw you way in over your head and it buried you in what should have been a legitimate thread on child abuse. And now you’ve apologized. But at the same time, you’ve managed to misconstrue pretty much everything everyone has ever said to you. No one called you a racist. No one called you a homophobe. No one accused you of telling others they like to fuck barnyard animals. No one accused you of fucking barnyard animals. And thankfully sheep don’t talk so I’m lucky there.
My point is that these were examples. If you stop cowering against the wall, swiping at anything that comes near you and just listen to what people are saying, you might actually hear them and learn.

All I ask is that the rules be enforced equitably and fairly. That’s all I ask. As I said, Tuba has inidicated a willingness to work with me (I am, you know, a newbie), can the rest of you do the same?
Oh, come on, you do remember fatherjohn, right? NBN may have his problems, but he’d have a loooong way to go to get to the sheer thick-skulled behavior and mind-numbing repetativeness we saw from SUV boy. Even jally couldn’t hack it.

True, my first post told you to “Fuck Off.” I’m sorry, but I was a bit mad at the time. Then, you requested an explanation for why I was “Jumping your bones.”
The very next post, I came in and explained myself. I will quote:

Whatever NBN. I tried working with you in an attempt to clarify some issues you yourself said you had trouble with, and the results were you claiming we were fucked up and then saying I’m flogging a dead horse. I brought up the OP since as an example to follow up the hypothetical examples in hopes of making a point, which you then promptly missed.
Since then you’ve been putting on a martyr act which gets old FAST. Especially since, for the most part, this thread isn’t even the giant pile-on it could be.

Invest in a clue by four. Learn the difference between someone trying to help you out a bit when you claim to not understand something and someone attacking you. Here’s a hint, I have yet to be on the attack in this thread, regardless of the harsh tone of this post.
For someone who claims to have lurked as long as you, you really don’t seem to understand how things work here.

Gosh, this is stupid.
NBN, I can understand your frustration. Probably, you aren’t a bad guy or a troll. You acknowledge that the “cock sucking” remark was out of line even. So why won’t people stop riding you? Why hasn’t Esprix asked the mods to close the thread?
IMHO, it’s because:
A) Your initial remark was unprovoked and unusually harsh
and
B) You haven’t been around long enough for people to have a sense of the kinder, gentler, smarter NBN
I’d bet that this is a very poor reflection of your true nature. Given the body of evidence against you, however, it isn’t surprising that the TM aren’t giving you the benefit of the doubt.
If I were you, I’d re-read Anthracite’s post. Re-read it 100 times if necessary. If I were acting as your counsel, I’d recommend option #3 be exercised by you post haste and in the sincerest manner. You lose nothing by re-apologizing and have much to gain. This place is fun and interesting; a worthwhile addition to IRL.
