Many happy returns of the day,** Jahdra**.
I go to doc at 1:30. No idea why am writing like telegram. Slept awhile; feel no better. WTH is wrong? No congestion, no cough, --throat has an occasional twinge. No appetite. No energy.
I had mono in HS.
Sorry I haven’t read everyone’s tale of joy/woe/intrigue/mundanity/anger. Will later. Promise.
I did call into work for tomorrow. Cried on phone. I’m going to be 45 soon–I wonder when I’ll grow up?
:dubious:
Janam Din Mubarak Ho!
That’s Happy Birthday ini Hindi. Literally it means “Congratulations for the day of your birth!”
Unfortunately I can’t write it in Hindi characters. Or…can I? Nyah, doesn’t look like it!
--Happy Birthday, Jahdra!--
Isn’t it fun when the sun shines on your birthday to match your mood?
I’m sorry you’re sick, Rigs. Feel better soon!
It’s good to see all the missing folks returning. I am still drooling over all your salmon, kai. Yumm, salmon…When Skiffman goes out commercial fishing, how long is he gone for? And what area are they fishing in? He’s not going out into the Bering Sea, is he? (I know he does sometimes, but man, that looks awful!)
I am rapidly coming down with a case of the “I’m tired, dammit, and I Don’t Wannas.” Caffeine isn’t doing the trick, either. And I don’t have time for a nap. :: pouts ::
<snerk> Mika called Jah a ho! <snerk>
What? Somebody had to do it!
Special One Happy Bday in Hebrew is just jake!
And now…

We’ve had almost three inches of rain today. YAY! Course that means I had to drain water from the pool a bit ago cause the water level was at the top of the skimmer which ain’t good. Plus I uprighted the swing that fell over in the storm durin’ the night. More is on the way too.
Supper tonight will be bbq pulled pork, (I put a roast in the crock pot when I got up this mornin’ and let it do it’s thing whilst gone. It’s done to a turn and coolin’ off so I can pull it apart, dump bbq sauce on it and return it to the crock pot to simmer and keep warm), coleslaw and the N.O.T. wedgies Rebo described earlier cause they sounded so nummy I just hadda do it. I stopped at the store on the way back today and got some buns and a package of coleslaw mix (I’m lazy, so what!). I dumped a bottle of sweet and sour salad dressing over the mix. So, supper shall be num.
The interview went very well I think. The interview panel seemed all impressed with my answers concerning counseling techniques and behavior management and all that good stuff. I appreciate all the appropriate/inappropriate crossed appendages but y’all don’t have to keep ‘em crossed all the time, just when I got an interview goin’ on. So, everybody uncross and relax.
rigs, I’m sorry you’re sick. Go back to bed with a good book and some tea.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAHDRA!!!
I ate lunch! Real food! And I don’t feel sick right now! I’m going to celebrate by napping.
Cumpleaños feliz,
cumpleaños feliz,
¡te deseamos todoooooos
cumpleaaaños feliiiiiiiz!
Knowing how bad you’ve had it makes me specially glad when I see you happy
Congratulations, Li-Li
swampy, you make me hungry!
So you don’t believe me…
and you’re mad at me…
?
(I actually recognize the word “mubarak” as a loan-word from Arabic – in which it means “blessed”)
**Swampy **-- good job on the interview! (uncrosses appendages) Ouch!
I think I managed to iron out most of the bugs in our (who am I kidding? My…) code – so we are now down to about Yellow Alert in our relationship with the client. I hope.
What will it be, WetUrsine? Beer, or prison?
Naw, not that I don’t believe you, just :dubious: that you were switching to another language…
and mad that you thought of it first…this time. (Previously, I said it in Hindi FIRST!)
Yuppers. But who’s to say we borrowed it from them? I’m pretty sure Sanskrit is just about as old, and it’s definitely older in the written form.
However, there are so many similarities where I come from in Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi with a flair of Arabic. Half my words are Urdu.
Good morning people! It’s kinda weird to be up for just a bit, and to read about swampster getting his din din ready, being so far behind everyone in time is just, well, weird! Cama’i to those who missed me!
I woke up to the cats hollering about food, we ran out of kibble last night, so I had to give them a couple of cans of salmon, the poor dears. I’ll get another bag of kibble for them later.
No rain so far, but it is chilly and overcast, yippee skippee. The Son just left to go and weed whack with a buddy of his, then they will go swimming, and he is also going to be spending the night, so it will be just #3 and I home tonight with the critters, sounds like a movie night!
bobbio you have had an intense weekend, I am in awe. And good on you for being willing to give your time to those in need.
pugs I hate making those cold calls too, and I am not a salesperson, not in the least, you have my sympathies.
You have a goofy cat MBG!
mika you are moving again? It seems as though you just moved not too long ago. I hate hate hate moving, I hope that you find a place where you will be happy to stay for a while quickly, and that your move goes quickly. Oh, and how are the reptiles, haven’t heard much about them for a while?
As long as you keep yourself hydrated li-li you will be okay, even though the nausea is a drag. I truly hope that your hormones will be leveling out soon.
A very Happy Birthday to you, Jah! Glad that you are here to enjoy it. (Been there and all that…)
Are you saying that you have mono again rigs? That bites, rest and get plenty of fluids, and feel better soon!
I have lived in salmon country all my life MamaTigs and I used to be very fond of it. Moving to Kodiak though, fish is such a staple that I get so tired of it. I appreciate those who buy wild Alaska salmon, as it pays my husband, but I don’t eat as much of it as I used to! Skiffman fishes salmon just around the island, although generally not too close to town. He will be going to the Bering Sea this autumn and winter to crab and cod fish, after having taken the last season off. It’s not my favorite thing by a long shot, but with fish prices the way they are, we need the income. Once the kids have left the nest it will be different, but for the next five years he has to grind.
Well I am off to toddle about doing chores, a good day to everyone, see ya later.
OK, I’ve already forgiven you :p, since you may not know. My sweetie told me ( not asked, told) that I was going to marry him - this was 2 days after our first date. We were married 4 weeks after the aforementioned first date, and it’s been 23.5 years so far. So it’s not always stupid - sometimes it luuuuuuurrrrve!
Of course, if my daughter pulled a stunt like that, I’d kick her butt from here to next year! Lucky for her, she and her intended have been dating over a year and a half already…
I was going to mow the hill and ditch when I got home, but I just don’t feel like it. It’s hot out there and I don’ wanna! Maybe later when it cools a bit.
Happy Birthday, Jah!!!
All you sickies, feel better, dagnabbit!
**LiLi ** - I just gotta tell you that the monster idea has really got me all excited and stuff! I think I’ve come up with a “brand name” and I’ve done some rough sketches of prototype monsters. Can’t wait to start throwing and monstering!
That’s all for now. I’m sure I’ll think of something else before beddy-bye time…
Oh yeah - **MamaTigs ** - I’ll be sending an email to **Alice ** - I hope her addy is in her profile - otherwise, it’ll go via you.
Kaiwik, I am not currently moving, but I am in the market for some other place. I really want a house-type or townhouse thing. But it is not an urgent move, actually we plan to take a lot of time and look for a place we can live in for a long time.
Everyone is so sick! Get better!
Happy Birthday, Jahdra.
Scaring cats is fun. But I’m usually with my GF in the bedroom when it happens.
Want I should knit some monsters, or some monster clothes for your monsters, FCM? That would be seriously cute! Let me know; I’m always willing to bite of yet more than I can chew.
You might wanna get the mowing done pretty soon, too; there’s a nasty line of thunderstorms moving, of all the strange directions, SSW towards us. They’re supposed to get to me in the not too distant future, and I assume you’re next in line. Of course, who knows if they’ll actually make it this far without fizzling; they appear to be fizzling a bit already. Which is definitely good.
I just did a quick-and-dirty sort-through of my yarn stash. My, I do have a bunch of it! I’m freecycling away some of it that I had for a charity project that’s no longer in demand, so someone else can use it for their charity project. But there’s enough of the rest I probably need to spend a few hours one of these days putting together a spreadsheet so I can keep track of how much I have of what type and what color. Besides “a whole metric buttload,” which is the best I can do currently.
Papa Tigs and I knew each other very, very slightly from an internet discussion group; he was living in Japan and me in California at the time. After a couple years of a brief exchange or two of emails, we met in person at a big gathering, basically both fell instantly and madly in love, and spent the next three days till he had to go back to Japan practically 100% in each other’s company. He then came back a few months later and I joined him at his mom’s house for a ten-day visit, and then I went to Japan three months after that and we got married. So we had spent altogether, in person, about 12 days together when we got hitched. Shh, I’ve never told my mom that! But that was 11 years ago. So length of time together doesn’t necessarily have a lot to do with anything when it comes to Twu Wuv.
:hides from FCM:
~ Happy birthday, Jahdra! ~
It’s nearly bedtime for me, just got time for a nice cooling bath before dreamland beckons. Tomorrow, folks!
You don’t have to hide from me. You know I’m nice, dammit!
Yay! Multi-lingual birthday wishes!
I had a nummy lunch: strawberry milkshake, (veggie) burger, and onion rings. Hey, it’s my birthday! I don’t think I’ll be needing dinner.
It’s very, very quiet in the office today, apparently there’s a partner meeting somewhere. I know I’m bored when I pounce on filing. That took 2 minutes, only because I had to wrestle with the lock. Only 3 more hours until home time! If I feel really wild and crazy, I’ll stop by the yarn store on the way home. Then I’ll go home, knit, and watch DVDs. Yep, I’ve got a real wild evening planned.
I’m glad you’re excited about the monsters, FCM, and I definitely get first dibs.
I still don’t feel sick. It’s a miracle. I’m going to set off for work and exciting sock-shopping on the way there. So much fun.
Incidentally, speaking of **Alice ** - why hasn’t she visited the MMP of late?? HMMMMM???
