Up early, again thanks to Scruffy. I was lying in bed contentedly, watching a show on public TV about comedy, when idiot little dog started barking. **FCD **still wanted to sleep, so I got up and took her scraggly dog butt outside. So now my sweetie is snoring away contentedly, and here I am, wide awake. Stoopit pup.
It’s raining, supposed to rain most of the day. Of course, it was supposed to yesterday, too, but it didn’t. However, it is coming down right now, so I won’t have to water my little container gardens today.
We were going to do some boat stuff today, but I guess that ain’t gonna happen now. I do need to buy some groceries - we’re out of milk, mostly out of cereal, and daughter needs lunch fixins…
Speaking of daughter, she’s supposed to do RenFaire today. ick - in the rain?!? Poor kid.
That’s all for now. Except to ask, where did **FCD **put his ID cards? They were in the back pocket of his jeans when he left work, at least that’s what he thinks, but we can’t find them anywhere. The jeans have been laundered, and they didn’t show up there. He’s checked his car and the bedroom. I’m wondering if idiot cat #2 took them somewhere (they were all in a little pouch thingie.) That, or when he opened a drawer to take out a clean t-shirt, the pouch may have fallen in? Ideas - I need ideas!!!
Nice and cool today, the rain brought a cool front. I have the door open.
Mr Rebo isn’t feeling well, and went back to bed.
Blaze was so funny this morning. I put the leash on him to take him outside, and when we walked past my Dad’s sitting room, whose door was closed, he plopped right down and wouldn’t move. I opened the door, and he waddled over to my Dad’s chair, where he was sleeping. (A normal thing!) He bumped his hand to wake him up, got petted, and then was ready to go outside. He’s doing better already! Yay!
Today is menu/grocery list/clip coupons/shopping day. I need one more meal using chicken…
Thursday is Mr Rebo’s birthday. His requested birthday meal is spaghetti and meatballs, salad and garlic toast, followed by German Chocolate Cake.
Cool rain has dropped the temp here a bunch. It’s refreshing, if damp.
And we’re back from breakfast/Lowe’s/veggie stand stops. I’ll be running to the grocery store a little later. Might even bake a cake. But mostly, it’ll be another lazy day. Yay!
We did get some poison ivy killer at Lowe’s - I need to spray quite a few areas of the yard - it appears to be a bumper year for the evil plant. There’s one creeper that’s reached about 7’ up a tree. Not good.
Maybe I should bake a cake. It would be theraputic. And medicinal. And yummerrific…
There’s a cake in the oven - yellow with French Vanilla pudding. Milk chocolate frosting will top it. Yum.
**snowbunny **- at breakfast, we walked thru his Friday, and he thinks his ID might be in a coworker’s car. They went to lunch together, so he had to have his ID to get back on base. He remembers taking it out of his pocket, but not putting it back. When he wakes up from his nap, he’ll try calling coworker to find out.
More news on my endless quest for prestigious gainful employment next year: posted on Daily Kos about it, got a reply from a grad student on campaigning and shit, emailed him, got a longer explanation of what I should do, and sent him the letter I wrote marketing myself to Carnahan’s manager. With luck, he’ll tell me what else I should have in there, and I’ll send it soon.
Here’s hoping that FCD’s ID turns up safe and sound.
Good news about Blaze, Rebo! I mean, good news that what’s wrong is treatable and he seems to be doing better already - woo hoo!
Went to see the Star Trek movie today - while I love love loved the actors and thought they all did marvelous jobs (young Spock! young McCoy!), I (Trek purist that I am LOL) have a -huge- problem with shooting Star Trek canon all to hell and back. Gah, but I abhor that! And it’s the Vulcans who are affected by it, one of my very favorite ST races. Oh well, I think what I shall do is just ignore the canon changes and keep to the ST canon that I know. la la la la … I can’t hear you, my ears are plugged.
Arrgh, we have take one of the new bikes back. Admittedly, these bikes aren’t uber expensive (mid two hundreds range), but we specifically paid for Shimano shifters, that’s what the bike was listed as coming with, and all the bikes without those types of shifters were waaaay less expensive.
So, we get the bikes home last night, and first thing the kickstand actually BROKE! It totally snapped. We weren’t pleased about that, but what the hell, kickstands are easy to replace.
However, this morning, we’re going over our new bikes when hubby notices his shifters are different than mine. Upon further examination, we discovered they weren’t even Shimano, but some other brand that came on bikes about hundred dollars less than ours. Both of our bikes are the same model number, etc.
Bah!
The silver lining for today is that the sun is shining, and it’s warm and pleasant.
Groceries have been shopped and put away. **FCD **is feeling a bit ick, so he doesn’t want to have supper. So I’m guessing my supper will be a sammich or something. And cake.
Just started a thread to ask for geeky Paris tourist suggestions. I’ll take non-geeky, too, but I think it would be fun to find something that my best-friend-in-law and godson would like. Of course, I forgot to ask about classical-music related stuff (everyone in the family is a musician).
Been to work - got a good list of stuff to do before I leave and stuff for others to do while I’m gone.
Also got slightly better passport pictures (got some yesterday that were awful; I should have had her re-take them again - she shot 3 of them before I gave up; should have just walked away at that point). My eyes still look puffy (happy allergy season!), but I look less like someone dragged in for some type of alcohol/drug issue.
So, now it’s time to get back outside to put stuff in the ground. It’s supposed to be quite chilly tonight, but everything I’m planting should be fine.
In a mad dash to finish packing and get everything settled around the house. I think we’ve taken care of everything. Possibly. Maybe.
Of course, as long as the house doesn’t blow up while we’re away, everything else can be dealt with so long as I’ve got a credit card, a clean pair of underwear and/or a smile.
runs in circles, waving arms in the air and screaming frantically
Will be up ridiculous early tomorrow to catch our flight. See you guys in two MMPs! blows kisses
