We left Raleigh on Saturday morning, and had an uneventful drive. We dropped our bags at the hotel, then went and partied with the Nasty Nest, under an overpass near the Phillips Arena. We did beer relay races, with the Caniacs beating the Thrashers 2-1. There were about 120 of us in various groups, and we were shown on TV a few times. Sadly, the Canes once more snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. We tailgated some more, then went to bed. My car left early, because of the chance of bad weather. We did see some sleet, but the only real problem was that 300 cars in front of us decided that the speed limit sign said “6.5MPH” instead of “65MPH”. :dubious::mad: Apart from a 2 hour delay of stop and go, and some road rage from the driver we made it home in good time. The snow is following me, which meaas Gordie might spend another night in the kennel.
The snow is still coming down - they say we could have 10" by morning. The big question remains - will I have work tomorrow?? At the very least, I get to sleep in a couple extra hours. We shall see come daylight.

You line up 2 teams on either side of a table. each player has about a shot of beer in a plastic cup. 1st person on each team chugs their beer, puts the cup on the table edge, and flips it so it sits upside down. When it is flipped, the next person in line does it, and so on. The winning team finishes first. I flipped my cup on the first try all three rounds. I guess I rock.

So I made lamb chops with pistachio crumb topping and polenta for din din. Chops and pistachio crumb topping were very very good, but not so much on the polenta. Will have to fiddle with that recipe a little bit, methinks.
I don’t wanna go to work tomorrow. Nonononono. Someone call the waaaaaaahmbulance.

Doggio - I am jealous. I wanna take a road trip and have been planning on one for a while. Maybe get a buncha friends together, buy a usd Winnebago, and head out west for a few weeks… Also, grats on your boozy victory. it’s nice to know the Dope is well-represented XD
FCM - I’m crossing fingers, toes, eyes, and whatever else i can for school to be closed tomorrow. I don’t wann go to class I wanna sleep. Perhaps together, by our powers combined, we can sop the storm in its tracks so it just keeps snowing? Its gotta be worth a shot.

And no, the piercing really didn’t hurt at all. A little pinch when the needle went out the far side and completed the hole but that was it. The whole experience was quite pleasant actually.
I should be reading an article for my class in 8.5 hours. But I’m not.
Always make sure said cup is completely empty … once I left a tiny bit and when I tried to flip it, everyone was consequently baptized with the remnants. :smack:

I picked up a lost cellphone today. After wondering for a bit what to do, I decided to flip through the text messages to find someone that seemed like a close friend so I could call them and let them know I had their friend’s phone.
Every single text message this girl had received was work related and about debts and late papers and otherwise crappy stuff. Plus there were a bunch of messages from a guy: “you think you’re too good to answer my calls? you know I’ll make you regret it”, etc. It made me wonder what someone would think of me and my life if they were ever to pick up and go through my cell phone.
I’m keeping the phone on but no one has called to claim it yet. Hm.
Whenever I find a cell phone at work I look in the contacts for “home” or “mom” or “dad” or someone that is obviously family and will recognize the number. That serson should be able to get in contact with the person that lost the phone.
I had a fab weekend (despite being in London) with the girlies. We went to a show on Saturday afternoon, then headed off for drinks before going to a Moroccan restaurant for a meal. fter that, we went to a Polish vodka bar and had probably more krupnik than is reasonably good for one person before getting on the tube to go back to our hotel. On Sunday after a leisurely breakfast, we went to the Portobello Road market for a wander round before it was time to get our trains home.
I am only at work for four days this week as I’ve got Friday and next Monday off. We’re going to the Dead Rat Ball in Ostend on Saturday night so that means a long weekend is in order. Well, it’s my birthday and they’re having a fancy dress party. It’d be rude not to, right?
Two hour delay, and I still woke up shortly after my normal time. UGH! On the other hand, I had two kittehs visit for a morning snuggle. How bad can the day be when you start out skritching two kittehs?
It’s still snowing at a good clip. I took the doggies out, and poor Scruffy could barely move, the stuff is so deep. I picked her up and set her beside the house - there’s a narrow strip beneath the eaves where she could walk and squat in relative comfort. But I had to towel both of them off before coming back in. And I’m glad I grabbed my boots last night - in the deepest spots, I’m guessing there’s at least 8".
Work is still playing last night’s recording, so we’re still on 2-hour delay, and the base is on unscheduled leave status. I may wuss out and stay home. I’ve got enough leave on the books and my little car is so lightweight, I don’t know that I could even get up the little hill out of our neighborhood. Especially since I doubt that the county has plowed here yet. I’ll call the work recording again in about an hour and see what they’re saying, but chances are, I ain’t goin’ nowhere.

Good Morning All, well, my toes are still there. They’re still swollen but not black and blue. Quite strange if you ask me. And when I walk, I look like this.
