An Arty MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. It’s Firday!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

I have to go to a high school graduation tonight. Note the have to part of that sentence. I was inclined to blow it off but the graduate himself (son of friends) called me to ask if I’d be there. I mean, how can I not go now? Oh well, it’s a small school and the graduatin’ class is all of twelve so I figure it can’t take that long.

Moonie give him hell!

Ok, more caffienation needed. Also brekkies.

Later Y’all!

Dang Swampy, you are on the very early clock these days! And a happy FIRDAY to all, yay!

Got many errands to do today, and am hoping to be home before any of the predicted though possible thunderstorms come up.

I am partially caffeinated and have et a yogurt. :stuck_out_tongue: LOL I’ll be around later today.

Blurf; Happy Firday.

I got nuttin’.

Afternoon all. Grocery shopping completed. Lunch consisted of striploin steak with onion gravy and french fries - nom nom nom! HRH is running around wearing us all out. System Normal …

That depends. Is his real name Vlad? :stuck_out_tongue:

**Moonie **-- that is one mess of a class! On the bright side, I’m almost sure that – evn if you have to go to the Dean (especially if you have to go to the dean) – you will end up with an “A” in this class.

**Taters **-- tell me about “small” assignments mushrooming to fill all time allotted to them and to several others as well…

Happy Firday, everyone!

Blurf.

{{Moonie}} I see academia hasn’t changed in the 10 years since I graduated. Consider this training for the World Beyond… someday, you may end up reporting to a Moon Unit management-type (Og knows, I’ve had my share of those).

Dotty, mind sending some of that over here? Sounds like your leftovers would make a delicious breakfast.

Glad your allergies listened to us, gt. Clearly, Mumpers have superpowers… not particularly lucrative ones, of course, but still rather useful.

Hope things go better with your project today, Taters. We’ll focus some of the MMP super-rays in your direction to help you along.

PS - It’s my last day of work before VACAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATION!

Aren’t y’all overjoyed for me?

Mornin’.

Moonie, you’re making my decision to major in English twice look like a very wise choice. I would be in a ball in the corner quivering with rage and/or frustration with grading incompetence like that.

Work is going to be fun today! I’m creating a mailing list database that is very very large AND I get to move dust-covered videos to the basement! And the pecan trees are pollinating! And I forgot to take my SudaFake this morning! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Happy Firday! Since I stayed up late last night watching the basketball game, I decided to come in an hour late to work. Which of course means I have to leave an hour early, right?

Yesterday I swapped PC’s with another guy, because this one is 64-bit. But due to bloated bureaucracy the IT ticket got closed before they “re-imaged” it. So nothing works right. But at least I can surf the net!

Moonie - I would have gone nuclear on his ass! That is purely unacceptable behavior. I’m sure you’ll get your A.

Oh - BTW. the damn car was back last night.

I’m 41 and was a teenager back when there was no legal drinking age, dahlink. My home town has been an important center for transportation since before the Romans moved into the area; that means both legal trade and “something fell out of the truck’s back”. The Bardenas, now a desert (which can be seen from my window, I just have to turn my head right as I type this), are said to have been a forest until they were burned to get rid of robbers and of the kind of folks who don’t see why a man ought’a pay border tax, thereabouts of 1500. At the time, this town was a day’s return walk from the borders to two other kingdoms, so tax evaders made a brisk trade.

A story of smuggling, from the other end of Spain. It is said that, during the 50s, there was a man that went every day from La Línea (“The Line”, meaning The Border) into Gibraltar, and the Guardia Civiles at the border were convinced that he smuggled but couldn’t figure out how. Every morning he’d go in to his job (he worked in Gibraltar as a handyman and bricklayer), every afternoon he’d walk back, they’d examine his wheelbarrow, shift the mud on it and find only mud. This went on for many years. At one point, he stopped working in Gibraltar; later, the man who’d been sergeant at the border crossing retired as well. They were in a bar, and the ex-cop said “ok, man, so tell me, how the hell were you passing the stuff and what was it?”

“I passed wheelbarrows. It wasn’t one that I kept spotless… I never brought one with me in the mornings!”

Haven’t read that post by Moonie yet. Man, it’s almost long enough to be by Sampiro.

Breathes new life into Ringo’s No No Song:
*A woman that I know just came from Majorca Spain
She smiled because I did not understand
Then she held out a 10 pound bag of Cocaine
She said it was the best in all the land
And I said:

No no no no, I don’t sniff it no more
I’m tired of waking up on the floor
No, thank you, please,
It only makes me sneeze
And then it makes it hard to find the door*

Morning all. Canes won in overtime, so we’re going to the Conference Finals. There were about 800 of us that met the team at the airport at 0300. We even cheered the UPS guy, and our good friend, the Lot 4 Orange bus.

Go get 'em Moonie!

Oooo! There’s gonna be a 'splosion today! I won’t be able to see it, but I’ll certainly go by there after I get done with workification to see the rubble.

'SPLOSIONS! :D:D:D:D:D:D

Forgot to comment on Bbbbobbio’s bat buddy - I dunno, but frankly bats creep me out. I’d probably try to get aminal control in to corral him/her, but I wouldn’t out right kill it.

When I was in my local Safeway this morning, the bakery had done up a Star Trek cake … it could possibly be worthy of a picture sent to Cake Wrecks, I’m telling ya! I don’t know what gets into the grocery store bakers sometimes - it’s like they’re sniffing glue or something! LOL It had a plastic model of the Enterprise on the cake, btw. LOL

tarra, what are you waiting for? Go take a photo! Fame via CakeWrecks awaits you. (also, I really want to see this disaster of a cake)

Nava, the funny thing is that no one ever tried to sell us cocaine when we were in Spain. Plenty of weed and hash for sale, but never cocaine (then again, I’m pretty sure the majority of the “dealers” were either in cahoots with dirty cops who’d shake us down for a bribe, or had buddies waiting in an alleyway nearby ready to mug us… why anyone would be dumb enough to buy drugs while travelling in a strange country is beyond me)

T-minus 15 minutes to Indian buffet time. I’m glad I wore a loose dress today.

Just back from our department barbecue. :: burp :: I’m stuffed. Good food!

My cheesecake-brownies-in-cupcake-shape all disappeared which is good. They were pretty easy to make so I think I’ll be making them for potlucks again.

We’re getting our trip to Seattle pretty well planned for next weekend. We’re staying with some friends in Kent on Wed, spending Thurs doing stuff downtown - probably a ferry ride out into the Sound, check out Pike’s Place, etc. - then have dinner with some college friends and spend a romantic night in a hotel (We usually stay with friends when we travel so a night in a hotel is a big deal.). Friday morning rent a car and drive out to Boeing’s plant and take the tour. Eventually meet up with the friends from Kent, drive up to Vancouver, spend Fri night there, check out the sites. Drive back Sat evening. Spend the night with them. Fly out around noon Sunday. Busy but should be a lot of fun.

I love Cake Wrecks! I’ve gotten my youngest daughter hooked on it as well. She will sit and watch Ace of Cakes for hours and is determined that she will be making her oldest sisters wedding cake when the day comes.

Swampy I haven’t had a chance to go to the state fair. It is only about 2 hours from us and I have been to the fair grounds before but I don’t think that counts for much.

Wow Moonie what a mess! I sure hope that gets sorted out for you soon.

Those are some amazing pictures Nava.

I think bats are pretty cool unless your MiL is standing in your living at 2am snapping on your kids because they are freaked out and joking but she is even more freaked out and mean. I was laughing so hard I was crying which only pissed her off even more.

The little guy found his way in three more times!

taxi, are you talking about Vancouver, BC or Vancouver, WA? I’m going to be in Vancouver, BC and area for all of next week… how funny would it be if we were both there at the same time?

I ate too much Indian food. My tummy hurts. groan

On a happier note, though, they’ve sent us all home early for the day… and since I’ve finished up all my stuff, that means my vacation starts NOW. Yay!

Home early today - the tour of the power plant was way cool, except in the generator hall, where it was around 100°! I stopped for lunch in Solomons (how is a "shrimp po’boy a charred hoagy roll with lots of lettuce and 3 shrimps?!?) then ran by the boat to pick up a pitcher and turn on the fridge. Plans for tonight involve finishing the laundry. woo and hoo.

I forgot to mention yesterday - idiot Taz got himself locked in the blue bedroom. I know he’s smart enough to open the doors because he’s done it in the past, but he blew it yesterday. I figured out he was in there because he didn’t join the doggie greeting committee when I got home and Ziva was sitting outside the door. Anyway, he didn’t wee on the floor, so yay!

TGIF!!

BC. Sorry, I forgot to specify. Unfortunately, I don’t think our schedule allows time for mini Dopefests of I’d be trying to meet up with Taters too. Plus, KT’s a little wary of the “meeting strangers from the internet” thing, even if he and I did meet here. :dubious: :smack:

Post-bbq/potluck I am so unmotivated. This is our last Friday before summer 1/2 day Fridays start, and I don’t think there’s much work getting done at all. Especially after a giant lunch.
