I’ve been playing a free MMORPG, since I can’t access WoW but, due to how they’re blocking it, I can access others.
These guys’ reaction to someone opening a ticket is “we don’t help people cheat.” When you politely explain further, they realize it’s a [Sesame Street]buuuuug repooooooort[/Sesame Street] and not a request to help you cheat (dude, seriously, people are dumb enough to ask an admin to help them cheat? And I never got one like that in eight years of being an admin? Srsly?). I’ve had two tickets. With one of them, the bug got fixed but there was no communication back to me beyond “oh. We’ll investigate.” With the second, the conclusion was that “everybody misunderstands how that is supposed to work. Some common sense is needed.” Uh, d00d? If everybody (which I can testify, seeing as I opened the ticket after consultation with two dozen other players, and everybody’s interpretation matched mine) is “misunderstanding,” maybe you’re “misexplaining”?
I don’t understand why do Germans have a reputation of being polite, except maybe that there used to be a time when they used the polite Sie form of address with everybody (thus rendering it pretty much neutral). A lot of them seem to go through life looking for excuses to insult people. This is a “no fee for monthly play” game: they still want your money, just not in the form of monthly fees. I’m looking forward to being able to play WoWCrack again, where admins are polite and have a sense of humor
No snow here, but we did have Scandanavian Hell, aka the big sale at Ikea.
We wanted to get a couple of the “Malm” dressers that were today’s big loss-leader. Got there at about 10:30 and the parking lot was already half full, and people were streaming into the building. We were there with BIL and SIL, and they were ogling all sorts of stuff. They also bought a bunch of stuff that I will probably be asked to help assemble. By the time we were out of there, the lot was full and the place was mobbed.
At least our new dressers are done.
Ugh. It’s my first ever slightly buzzed post. No, I didn’t drink at the wedding, but I did decide to have a shot of Bailey’s with some milk and whipped cream when I got home.
That’s all really, I’m very tired and will have to tell about the wedding tomorrow. Good night!
Oooh, pretty striped kitty, Rigs! I’m not very creative with names, though, but Hayley jumps at me for some reason. LOL
It’s cold in the mid-Atlantic/Maryland area also, unfortunately!
At least there’s no snow forecast, although there is a 30% chance on Monday. Gah. What can you do though – it is winter. I am sipping a big old mug of chai tea and surfing the 'net. I don’t wanna go back to work on Monday, but at least I didn’t have FCM’s schedule over the New Year’s holiday ! My condolences, btw; at least you are getting credit time.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, all, and Rosie’s sig as applicable!
9.8 hours - that’s how long I worked yesterday. And I’ve still got about 3 more hours of work before the project review at noon-thirty tomorrow. I will be so glad to put this project to bed.
One thing I just don’t understand - the person who will be taking our slides and briefing them to some mucky-mucks wanted *every-little-frikken-detail *on each and every slide. So if we labeled “Item A” on one slide, it had to be labeled every single time it showed up on any slide at all. Even if that slide had nothing to do with Item A, and even if there were so many labels, it was impossible to tell what the slide was supposed to be showing. I suggested we do an overall slide and label where the detailed breakdowns could be seen. Silly me - why be so logical and practical??
I don’t care. I don’t have to brief it - I just have to be available to answer question that may come up. But I am irritated that the project lead didn’t fight for common sense. Then again, she’s young - maybe she was somewhat intimidated by her boss. Me, I’d have told him what I thought. In fact, I did, since he’s my boss too… Oh well.
Cold is not the word. ***AGONY ***comes close. It’s in the teens and windy as all get-out here. I wouldn’t care as much except I’m the one who has to take the dogs out in it. I can just let Scruffy go, but Bernie has to stay on a lead.
Speaking of Bernie, when I got home (finally) from work last night, there was blood spattered all around her dish and the floor. **FCD **had no idea what it was about, and he checked her over. There was no blood anywhere else, either on the other critters or on the carpet. It’s a mystery.
So, help me out here - where the heck did I put my prescriptions? I got them from my new doc in Nov, but they didn’t need to be refilled till now. In fact, I took the last of one pill last night, and the last of another is for tonight. I need my meds. I can’t remember where I put the silly blue papers. grrrrrrr If I can’t find them this morning, I’ll have to call and ask that they call in to the pharmacy tomorrow, and I’ll just be short one pill tonight. I am not amused.
Is that enough whining for yesterday and so far today? 'cause I’m sure I can come up with more.
Happy Sunday!
MOOOOOM they’re in the dresser underneath that hideous “Hello Kitty” sweatshirt you got for Christmas three years ago. I just know it!
Good Mornin’ Y’all!!! I survived the bday/New Year’s bash last night. Good food (of course!), good friends, good times. We ate. We drank. We made merry. No peach cobbler though. I’ll make him one tomorrow since I’m off, bein’ as it’s my weekstart.
Ruble glad the MIL is at least no worse off.
It’s 23 degrees Amurrkin out! No frost though. It’s sunny and calm, just coooooooooooooooooold!
Ok, gotta get a casserole in the oven for brunch and go purtify for churchification.
Later Y’all!
I went to the local gas station to get a Sunday paper for VWife. The young chickie working the register had never heard the expression “Colder than a well digger’s ass.”
Dottie, original surgery date is today. Did you stay in Sand Central, or are you headed back Down Under for it?
cold, windy, cold, trees waving precariously, cold, grey, cold windy, and oh, did I mention COLD?
The windchill here is in the single digits. That’s indecent.
It’s warmed up to 23 degrees Amurikin. Today is skate and sled downtown with the Booster Club.
oh! I have news. While I was at the doc’s yesterday, I decided to step on the scale (I know, I must have been temporarily insane) but it showed I’d lost another 8 lbs in December - My official total (from June) is 45, my actual total (from last January) is closer to 70.
Congrats, rosie!
Here’s a LOLcat I made.
Wow! Go rosie!
**
doggio:** LOL on both the LOLcat and the dryer hockey.
Was that MBG I saw sneak in earlier? Did you save me some tamales?
I was wondering about you, too, Dotty.
Purty shoes, Pie. Sorry about your mentor. It makes me crazy that people can’t get necessary medical care to keep them healthy. I keep wondering how much our overall medical costs would go down if everyone had access to basic care. Seems like there has to be a way to get this that all of us can live with. (Heh. It’s a pun. Didn’t mean it, but I’m leaving it right there. :p)
Prayers and good vibes headed out to ruble and family.
Stayed longer than planned at brothers. I was going to come back yesterday, but didn’t feel like it. So I stayed up late with nephew and brother and watched the [del]Scandal Bowl[/del] Alamo Bowl. Great game, even if the ol’ alma mater lost.
I managed to knit a hat while I was there. Yay! We had fun, although the niece was pretty grumpy the whole time. She’s 15, so that’s pretty much a default state.
I’ma get stuff set up to get errands done and house organized while I’m on vacation. There’s lots to do, but I want to put a plan together for house and garden projects for the year, get moving on some of them (or at least get the groundwork laid). Also need to do my annual review of the state of the finances…which haven’t done for a couple of years.
And I need to write the MMP, I suppose.
I know there’s stuff I missed…general hugs all around to make up for that.
GT
Wow, that’s great **rosie! ** I am afraid to step on the scale. My clothes are telling me all I need to know; which is get off my ass and start exercising and eating right again.
Spoke to daughter via text several times yesterday. It was five degrees where she is.
It’s certainly more temperate here; in the 40s, I think.
It’s my last day of freedom before heading back to the salt mines. Bleh.
Yeah Rosie!
Save you tamales? GT, we used 12 pounds of pork, another 2-3 of our leftover turkey - so almost 25 pounds or so of total tamale goodness. Drop by, they’re filling our freezer!
Whew! That was an expensive series of errands…
Found my 'scrips - they were on my dresser behind a print that I put there to remind me to frame it. Got 'em filled - to the tune of $117 (damned Lipitor) - but for 90 days, I guess that’s not too terrible. We ran by WalMart because I needed some critter chow. Came out of there $170+ later, but we did get 5 pretty cool throw pillows to replace the sad ones we had. Unfortunately, I forgot to get onions while there, so we stopped at McKay’s where I got onions and milk, totally forgetting the canned beef broth. Too bad - no more shopping.
Then we gathered the household trash and ran to the convenience center. It was way crowded - there were 4 vehicles unloading, 7 in front of us, and 4 more following us. As we left, there were at least 14 in line, 2 more pulling in as we pulled out, and we passed 2 more coming down the road. Lotta trashy folks in St. Mary’s county this frosty day!
But all or garbage and recycling is gone, so yay for that.
Unfortunately, the driver’s side window in the van won’t open. Dunno if it’s frozen shut or dead. On one hand, I hate to sink any more money in the van. On the other hand, fixing the window would be lots cheaper than taking on a new car loan. We’ll se when it gets warmer.
Daughter just called - they’re 30 minutes out. YAY! It took them over 6 hours to get to South Carolina yesterday - she said the traffic on I95 was abominable. So this morning, they got started at 5:30, and they’ll be here by 2. Yay!!
<happy mom dance>
I’ve got a chuck roast in the crock pot. Veggies will be cooked eventually. As soon as I finish reading the comics, I’ll resume the knitting position. I’ve got 2 kidlet afghans in work. I like making them because they go so fast!
I love the fucking weather site!!
I will have to share it…
I’m all churched and brunched. Lots of comfort food today bein’ as it’s cold out. MMMMMMMM… comfort food!
Next Sunday is our annual Parish meeting. That’s were we hear reports of all the goin’s on from various organizations for 2009, get a report on the 2010 budget and elect three Vestry members. I’m up for election along with five others. Anywho, we got introduced as candidates durin’ brunch. I was described as an “experienced” parishioner who has served several times on the Vestry and has good knowledge of Parish business practices. That is either a compliment or a nice way of sayin’ “this one is older than dirt.” :dubious:
Also, next Sattidy is our Parish Epiphany party. It’s a fun time. Everybody brings a(n?) hors d’oeuvre to share and whatever one wishes to drink. It’s held at the home of brave souls who volunteer to host. It is also understood that Vestry candidates “schmooze” durin’ the party. Lucky for me, I can “schmooze” with the best of 'em.
MOOOOOOM I was almost right. The prescription was on the dresser. Now all you need to do is find out what’s under the “Hello Kitty” sweatshirt.
I need a nappy poo!
Later Y’all!
Me and my uterus are still here. Waiting for details on consult date in Australia before I book my flights.
Here is a picture of our new cat. She is such a love–lots of fun and spunk. Our other cats were slugs with fur. She’s going to be fun. Yay!
