An In Honor Of MMP

Oi! Nava! I sent you a PM!

Yeah, I’m enjoying all these people trying to book rooms at the last minute. “What do you mean the only rooms you have available New Year’s Eve are $239 plus tax? That’s too high.” Shoulda booked it October, sonny. Also, tomorrow we have A Wedding coming in. I hate A Weddings. I swear, I will elope and throw a backyard barbecue later. Big elaborate book hotel room block A Weddings are for the birds.

I do concur. I concur indeed. Can it be next week when we go back to the business travelers? I like them better. They’re not needy.

And the next Floridiot who asks me where they can take their kids to play in the snow will be beaten severely with the huge chunks of ice that still litter the parking lot of my apartment complex.

Seriously. It needs to be next week. And I need to reacquaint myself with my old friend Hard Liquor. I have missed him.

I did the DMV yesterday to get the piece of paper that will stand in for my new license which should arrive in the next few weeks. I don’t understand why they don’t print them out while you’re there anymore, but that’s progress I guess.

The license plate office is much faster than the driver’s license office.

God, I’m bitter and hateful this week. secludes self

Can I sit on the tired-n-cranky bench? I was awakened in the wee small hours by a bizarre, very painful cramp running down the side of my right calf and across my foot. It felt like a charley horse, only scarier. I got up and walked around a bit, then sat and stretched and flexed it, and when I got back into bed, I lay on my right side. The cramp or spasm or whatever it was passed and I fell back to sleep. It’s still a little achy, but not nearly as bad as it was last night.

I worked 90 minutes over today, partly thanks to my stoopit system choking, requiring a hard reboot. As it crept up on 3:30, my brain was turning to oatmeal, so I finished the last search, wrote down a reminder of what I need to do first thing tomorrow, then I turned it all off. There was only one other guy in the office, and I told him my fun meter was pegged and I was leaving. He got a good laugh and I got out of locking up! WIN!!!

Speaking of recipes, this is muy yummo!!!

Buffalo Chicken Cheese Dip

2 pkgs - Cream cheese, Softened (do NOT use Light variety)
¾ cup – Hot Sauce (Buffalo Wing sauce)
1 cup – Ranch dressing
2 cups – Cubed, cooked Chicken (shredded works better, IMHO)
1 cup – Shredded Cheddar
Combine cream cheese and hot sauce. Add ranch dressing and stir till blended.
Stir in Chicken & cheese

Pour in a 9x13 pan (sprayed with cooking spray)

Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. (If oily on top, blot with paper towels before serving)

Serve with tortilla chips

That’s all I’ve got. Is it nap time yet??

Yeah, thank Homeland Security and something called the REAL ID act for that.

One of the requirements seems to be centralized ID production. Most states have complied, if they haven’t already. (Living in California for 20-some years, I don’t think I ever got an ID that wasn’t mailed to me from Sacramento.)

I LOVE this stuff!!!

Dinner tonight is toasted baguette with olives and homemade sherried chicken liver pate.

Yes, I made my own pate (it’s to bring over to The Angry Russian’s house for NYE dinner). It was gooooooood and ridiculously easy (like, stupidly easy… like, remind-me-why-I-pay-money-for-the-premade-stuff-again easy).

All I did was saute a few strips of bacon until it was almost crispy, then added a couple of cloves of garlic and one shallot (all finely minced) and cooked until soft. To that, I added 3/4 cup of sherry and a handful of chopped fresh marjoram, and let it simmer for a bit to cook off a bit of the booze. Then I added a pound or so of chicken livers and cooked those until they were just barely pink. Poured the whole shebang into the food processor, added a little salt, pepper and a dash of balsamic. Then I gave it a whirl until it was smooth and poured into a pretty bowl before pouring over a thin layer of melted clarified butter to preserve the colour… and tah-dah! Deliciousness ensues.

We had Pie’s version of the Buffalo chicken dip recipe in the blog already, but FCM’s is slightly different (less chicken, for one thing). I added FCM’s version to the same entryand noted differences. I figure it’s easier that way. Does that work for everyone?

Added your pate, too,** Muppet**. Welcome back, by the way. Sounds like you had a nice time.

Heh, taxi, sounds like you and I are having the same week. I would happily work from home and not have to deal with anyone. Hasn’t been bad, really, but I really vant to be alone.

Need to get some stuff organized here… back later.

I should probably go back thru the recipe blog - I’ve lost track of what’s in there. My recipe came from my sis - it was one of the munchies at our Christmas brunch, and I’ve got to make it tomorrow for a pot luck at FCD’s work on Thurs.

My brain is fried. I think I’m going to take it to bed.

Kisses all around, with a few random gropes tossed in the mix

My headache left and has come back again. I think I’ll go eat another ho ho to see if that makes it go away.

Careful, Pie. Do you know where those hos have been?

My cousin just friended me on Facebook. This would be the cousin I’ve only seen once. We were friends for all of three hours and then we had a fight over a Barbie doll and never spoke again. I haven’t even seen her in all this time. Time has passed and the doll has been relegated to the dustbin of history. Truly the Internet is a strange place, no?

For some reason I read FCM’s gropes as grapes. I was like, oooh kinky.

I ordered t-shirts for Irish Boyfriend from Threadless… two whole weeks ago, and they still haven’t arrived. And he’s coming back today! All I have is a monkey doll that I meant to give him along with the shirts (he likes calling me monkey, for some reason). Oh well. They said the shirts would be delivered within ten days, but with the holidays I suppose it’ll take longer than usual.

All this DMV stuff is bringing back horrible memories of California, and horrible/amusing memories of Louisiana, where the amount of money I had to pay went down because the second clerk I got liked me or something. Louisiana deserves a lot of its reputation. Not that I don’t have a certain affection for it, because I do, but oy.

Then last year-ish I walked into the county office building here and was out in under an hour (only because I had to take the written test) and less than $100 poorer with new license and plates good for two years. It was painless. And cheap. There are things I adore about Idaho, lemme tell ya.

And as far as tourists go, we’re up from last year, yay! But that means they are everywhere. This evening on my way home from work a family darted out from between stopped cars, mostly wearing black coats, right in front of me. On an icy road. Let’s hear it for snow tires! Idiots.

Course they could have been locals. Nobody up here knows how to cross a street. I think they’re spoiled because it’s virtually impossible to get much above 25 due to the blocks being so short and they just assume that you can stop. Because you will since you don’t want to hit them. Morons.

It was actually a good day. I heard Great Big Sea on a LOCAL STATION today! ON THE RADIO. This Does. Not. Happen. It was excellent. Except that I shrieked and could have very easily driven into a tree. They should warn me before they do stuff like that. (I quite understand if nobody here cares about this. But the 12-year-old fangirl in me hit an earsplitting squeal pitch, lemme tell ya, and she won’t quite shut up. g)

I also got all the paperwork and stuff on my fancy new insurance. I need to go schedule an eye exam, now that I have coverage. Wow.

Thank goodness the nausea and headache that woke me about 45 minutes ago are starting to go away. As it is I’m still having trouble just drinking a glass of water. Thank you medicine change. Obviously this won’t be happening again. Two doses of this fun and excitement is enough for me.

Whew … I fell asleep last night (Tuesday) around 8 PM, but then I awakened around 2:30, so I have just opted to stay up. Here’s hoping that I’m not gonna regret this after lunch on Wednesday!

I’m trying to decide what to have for NYE supper - I vary from year to year, and was thinking of pork loin roast this year, maybe with cabbage … any ideas anyone? Naturally, black eyed peas will be cooked - and some brown rice will be added to them also. Great recipes, they’re making me hungry, btw!

We had turkey pot pie last night and boy was it good! We also used up the rest of the stuffing/dressing left over from the day after Christmas turkey dinner. LOL Maybe it was the turkey that helped me to sleep at 8 pm, eh?

Rosie’s sig to all … glad that you made it to Scotland okay, btw, BooFae; that’s a lot of driving.

I can’t believe it’s almost 2010!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

Just checkin’ in. Time to go feed the tummy and purtify for work.

Happy Wednesday!

Up, caffeinated, off to blurf.

Ooooh…it’s snowing! We’ve just persuaded ‘im indoors’ mum to take us down into the town so we can get a train into Glasgow to meet up with some friends. I believe that also involves having curry for lunch. Yum!

Howdy y’all!! Today is my Firday cause we are closed tomorrow and real Firday. Yay!

Just got our list of official days off and we have Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day and Good Friday off so at least one long weekend during the looooong winter months.

muppet, that pate sounds divine!! ::waits by CD cup holder drooling::

tarra, that supper sounds real good, too! ::lather, rinse, repeat::

boofae, won’t curry melt that snow?

I suppose I should do some work. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tupug

Not much new here other than that my desk at work and my cell phone are conspiring to kill me.

My cell phone started ringing. When I got up to fish it out of my jacket pocket, my foot was tangled in a cable under the desk, nearly causing me to fall over and smash my head against a filing cabinet.

I can just imagine the insurance people puzzling over it, and it would be a good payout for DH as my life insurance doubles if I die at work.

Hmmm… :dubious:
