An In Honor Of MMP

I spent the evening at the Zoo, admiring the lights. There are actually lots of lights - we walked around for almost 2 hours, but apparently people only take pictures of the lake.

I don’t think I’m doing much of anything for New Year’s. We’re supposed to celebrate Christmas on Saturday and I have lots to do at home…

Tired.

Guess I’ll crawl into bed…

GT

Yeah, I know what you mean.

Actually, I only beefed up the Bubster’s page as sort of a joke. And, I’ve been putting off doing something important this evening. So, of course, working on Mick’s page was a much better idea.

My two projects for the evening involved looking in my closet for something to wear to the wedding and trying to find the gag gift that I’ve had laying around the house for the last several years. Both missions were unsuccessful. But tomorrow is another day, right!

Tomorrow is not my Firday, but it is my payday. Woo! Not that it isn’t all pretty much already claimed by somebody besides myself, but whatever. At least they will be happy.

And as I have to work on Friday I don’t know if I’ll stay up or not, but I’m sure as heck not going out. I don’t have to be at work until 11, so perhaps I will, if only so I’m not woken up by fireworks at midnight.

Bedtime. yawn Work has gone from very quiet to kinda nuts this week. It makes for a nice change, or will once I’m used to it. Yay, business!

I can certify that BooFae was alive and well yesterday c. 22:20, which is when I left the group to come back to Edinburgh. Yeah, I met her and 'im indoors and three more guys, sorry no pics.

Edinburgh in the extremely-wee hours was pretty and cold…

There is a Holiday Inn by the South Side Works now and I know some of the Santas stayed there rather than risk driving anywhere after the crawl. Don’t know about rates. Affordable basic rooms for events like this I usually suggest the places along lower McKnight Road. One I believe is called something like the Downtown Inn and I forget the other. They are really nice clean well appointed places and fairly cheap. Time from downtown is maybe 15 minutes - say 5 miles.

We’ve visited a few casinos here and there but for the food and shows mostly. The most we ever spent was like $30 and the average is actually close to $10. I’m a techno-freak ---- the attraction to me is the artwork and design of the machines. There is some really cool crap being done on these compared to the old Vegas Bandits. I have made it a point to hit the various PA ones (slot parlors really). Ours (the Rivers) is my favorite because the noise level is controlled and the layout is really friendly. My least favorite is Mohegan out near Scranton ----- whoever designed that one was either an idiot or he had no intentions of ever going in the dam place. But since that one looks to be making the big money ------- maybe he knew his stuff after all.

Slot parlors really although it does look like table games are coming soon – soon in PA politics terms. One is located right by Heinz Field and another south of town at the Meadows (Horse)Racing Track.

I just got a call from my best friend. Her mom died last night. :frowning: She was 91, but in fairly good health. My friend lives in Texas. I’m probably going to fly down, if she needs me to.

2010 is going to be better, right?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN

I cleaned two big bunches of collards last night in preparation for the delayed NY dindin on Sattidy. I live such an excitatin’ life!

Picu I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s mom. She’s in my thoughts and prayers. You are a good friend to offer to fly down to Texas.

Time to feed rumbly tummy and purtify for work.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Sorry to hear the sad news, Picu, I think most of us are hoping that 2010 will be better somehow or other.

Yay! I met Nava last night - I hope she’s recovered from the experience. 'im indoors had plans to meet up with his WoWCracker buddies, so it was a bit of a strange evening in terms of conversation since I don’t play and neither does the other friend of his who came along. Anyway, it all passed off without incident and Nava can now testify that I am indeed completely bonkers.

Plans for today? We’re off to see his dad this afternoon then heading down to his sister’s place in Largs for a party tonight. I don’t think his mum’s coming along to that one, but we’ll be staying over and heading back up here on new year’s day, then going home again on Saturday.

I still have manflu.

Happy new year, Mumpers!

Up, caffeinated, off to blurf. Hockey tonight, then Happy New Year!

{{{{picu}}}}

I’m up and caffeinating, and not going in to work! It’s a bit to chancy out there for me this morning (I use a rollator - one of those pushable walkers - to get around): sleet and freezing rain. So I’m up and putting my pork loin roast in. Oh boy, I think it’s going to be good!!

{{{{{{{{Picu}}}}}}}}; your friend is in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Yay on BooFae and Nava meeting up! I happened to catch a little bit of the Sydney Australia NY celebration on the Today show at 8 AM, just as it turned midnight there and the fireworks were going off - boy that was a huge show! Hope everyone has an enjoyable NYE this year.

Ah, the irony. Just as I’m being slammed elsewhere on the net for being overweight, here I am 2 1/2 days before the wedding and I have nothing to wear because all of my old dressy clothes got too big and I gave them away! I mean, literally I have one outfit that might work, but in reality isn’t dressy enough. My grandma and I are headed out in a few minutes to the local higher end consignment store to see what we can find.

Wait…what? Who’s slamming you, **Pie? **I hope it’s not on this board. I hope you’re not taking anything negative that they’re saying to heart.

Good luck with finding something to wear and good on you for your continued weight loss. I know what hard work it is.

I’ve been up awhile, caffienating, perusing the web, etc. My daughter flies out for Missouri today. She’s going there with her boyfriend to visit his family and friends. I haven’t seen my daughter all week, she’ll be gone another week, and I miss her.:frowning: I probably embarrassed the hell out of her too. I posted on her Facebook. I warned her I was turning on Mommy mode and then asked if she’s packed or taken along a heavier coat because it’s coooooold in Missouri right now. We’ll see what kind of response I get.

Sorry to read about your friend’s loss, **picu. ** You are indeed a good friend to offer to fly down to Texas.

I’m hoping 2010 is a better year for all of us. My goodness, it’s been a rollercoaster.

Time for more coffee!

WOO HOO! I found the perfect dress! I’ll try to find a link to it and be back.

No** Taters**, it wasn’t here. Just a disgruntled ex-girlfriend of TVMan.

well, you can’t take anything a disgruntled ex says to heart

Alright, now don’t scoff at me when you see where I bought it. Honestly, I don’t think I could have found a more perfect dress. And, when I got there they only had the size below mine and above mine. I tried them both on and the smaller size fit perfectly!! So, here it is!

I may have to find new shoes to go with it. I mean, I have shoes, but they’re sort of weird and if I can find something else inexpensive, I will.

Anyways, I’m totally excited!!! :D:D

Exactly what I was going to say, rosie. Glad you found a dress,** pie.**

So, my daughter responded to my post:“I packed a few sweaters and my linebacker jacket, MOMMMMMM.” Can you just seeeeee the eyes rolling?

I’m still the only one up. It’s been rather peaceful.

Rationally I know this. However, it tends to upset me when people are mad and insulting me when *I haven’t done anything wrong.
*

Sometimes I just wish it were a shiny, happy perfect world. And it rarely is.

They do that because they have no self esteem and the only way for them to feel good about themselves is to try to make others feel inferior

I just spoke to my daughter. She’s at the airport, although her flight doesn’t leave until noon. She and her boyfriend opted to get there early because they weren’t sure how long security was going to take.

She told me it didn’t take too long; the lines weren’t bad at all. This is her first airplane ride. It’ll be interesting to see what she thinks. She’s flying Southwest, but I hope she can get a window seat. I like to look out the window. I never get tired of the view.

I suppose I should get myself cleaned up now.
